- Back again with more Noob vs Pro Scrap Mechanic! Today Dapper and I are finally going to try a train transport challenge! We originally wanted to do this challenge earlier but unfortunately the custom track pieces did not work. Now with the recent updates these custom assets work again and we can compete in an epic train challenge where we have to load and unload cargo at different stations!

Those drive rods do actually do something in scrap mechanic, though whether that thing is helpful or not is debatable, but it prevents wheel slip on any individual wheel, also, not the boiler explosion. Got an idea for another train challenge, armored train vs forts
Excellent setup for a Noob vs Pro. I like that you gave Dapper a functional base for a train and the freedom to ignore it.

next NVP challenge, the Trans-Atlantic railway! race trains from the surface to underwater and back to the surface as if they couldn't afford to make supports for the rail way across the ocean.

since you brought it up now i really want to see a noob vs pro rocket train challenge honestly that seems like it will be interesting to watch.
Train challenges:
- Cowplow chalenge: Like the KillBots chalenge but with speeding trains in a hallway. If your train is stoped, you loose the round.
- Juggernout challenge: Similar to this but, instead of a race, you keep adding weight. Only one runs, the other places a crafter each checkpoint you pass. You loose at first derail or when you can no longer run.
- Builders challenge: Superlong track. The train engine goes with a switch or switchs. And you have to build something in your train without welding it to the train. If the build falls, you start again.

Week three of asking kAN to do a noob vs former noob vs pro and bring kosmo on to do a challenge for kosmo to redeem himself by redoing a challenge he lost when he was the noob. Example: you could do the dump truck challenge with dapper, but invite kosmo on too. Or you could do the tank challenge with dapper and kosmo. You could also do a challenge that kosmo never got to try because survival wasn’t out yet! I just thought that would be cool to see kosmo again, but this time also racing dapper!
I want to see a resource gathering train challenge, set up a forest, and one of each lake fairly close to the tracks. then you have to build cars to gather and transport wood, chemicals, oil, and water, as well as building the engines.
also, a Garrat style engine would probably do so well in this challenge.
You a faster because of the bigger wheels! Wenn you have the same angle velocity and you multipy it by the radius to get the rotational velocity, the bigger wheels will be faster than the small wheels, but as the leverage law states, they also will be less strong!
I once suggested this a few months ago.
I actually think you can make an anti flip mechanism by making the whole train tilt into the corner.
I really hope they add train tracks into survival. Imagine pulling up to the trader with a hundred food crates. Add train station tiles too. Imagine making a base around one. Making walls of metal 3 around the base for raids and opening the door for your train to leave the base on its journey to the trader

Train combat: 2 tracks with trains going opposite directions. You design the engines and weapons for the given wagons, last one moving wins
The next challenge should be to do what I thought you were doing this time - build cranes on the train cars to load/unload the cargo, rather than doing it manually. To make it fair, you could start with the same base train & engine, or just use the trains you made for this challenge.

you should do an armored train challenge where you have to build a train with turrets and have to make to the end of the course while bots or people try to stop and destroy the train
Not bots, but one team has to build a train, the other team has to build a car, they battle them out on an abandoned railway, the car is allowed to have a rail-mount to get over the train bridge, the car team has to detach the carts from the train and haul them away to the start. If the train makes it to the end with a full train then they win, after the first round they switch builds.

*kAN* here's a tip, if you want to reduce the lag in Scrap Mechanic you should move the Physics Quality slider off Advanced and moving it to at least Physics Quality 8 helps. I've found that the lower physics quality works fine with bearing and only seems to affects pistons (unless you turn the slider all the way down). So if you plan to do any other challenges that involve a lot of bearings, I'd suggest changing the Physics Quality.
I feel like you should do this challenge, but someone else has to make a delivery van and has to drive around a course picking stuff up rather than doing so on a track. Seeing who’s faster, train or van?
Shunting challenge maybe? And if put the wrong car in the wrong siding it blows up?

7:29 Some steam locomotive terminology, the "big wheels" are known as drivers, as they power the locomotive. 7:52 The "little arms" are known as side rods or connecting rods, as they connected all of the wheels together to move them. Kan has made a 4-6-0, a "Ten Wheeler" and Dapper has built a 4-4-0, and "American" Type, but could be classified as a 0-4-4-0 because all of his wheels are powered, Idk what that is called. Kan's is the the same I'm guessing, making it a 0-4-6-0, which to my knowledge has never existed irl.

the middle pins aren't neccesary, they actually cause lag. The front and back bogey are the ones keeping the train on the track. the middle ones just cause pressure
Honestly I feel like that you should also have two way guards so that trains won’t fall off

next noob v pro idea: handcar races : no seats, a button to turn it on, and first one to the finish wins BUT it has to look like a real handcar
What if you make cars but the other person has 10 seconds to sabotage your car?
All it takes is one bearing wrong and the while thing is useless, so kinda boring

Who else thinks it would be cool if, when having a creation on a lift, it shows their weight (measure is amount of those 'weight dots' on blocks)
I think the lag is because if you make a straight line in front of each train, they cross on the curves. The game thinks you collide sometime and lags before. If someone is behind the other the lines don't cross and there is no lag.

You should do a train challenge where there are sensors and thrusters so the train floats over the rails and other thrusters to keep it on the tracks

Idea - Piston powered car race
I'm pretty sure the reason the corners are laggy is becouse the velocity vectors of the trains and the carts intersect theother train leading to the game starting collision calculations just incase they collide(I don't know how the game works but this seems like the cause)
You can do this same challenge, but fully automated. Manually picking things? Holding 'W'? Overshooting the stations? Why would any mechanic do that when bots can do all the work for you while you take all the profit.
