    Have been waiting for a video like this for ages, have to do the same in my own house and have been considering tackling it myself bar the plastering. Good video!

      Ahhh, that is really awesome to hear Anthony 😀 thank you man, I hope it helps you if decide to take on the work yourself. If you do and get stuck you can always fire me a message on socials and I’l try help out the best I can.
      I would strongly advise though, strong boys are not very suitable if your opening is going to be any wider than this. I’d go for a needle option. Same preparations to a strong boy but the needle goes through instead and sits onto acrows on both sides of the wall 👍
      Really appreciate the feedback mate, thank you 👊❤️

    Hi, a video on the step by step process of who to speak to for permissions etc in order to take on this kinda work or any other , would be great. Cheers

      I could try to get one together on our next job like this 🙂 in short though, you’d speak with your local council to let them know your intentions. They may want steel work calculations drawn up by an structural engineer and also oversee the project inspecting the work once the padstone’s are in place pre plastering.
      Hope that helps 🙂

    Great video, i think i can tackle mine myself, what about building regs and all that though did you need to get it all calculated first my a structural engineer then have building regs manege it/check it?

    How much for a job like this including the steel?

    • @CraigToddBrickwork
      @CraigToddBrickwork  11 днів тому

      Unsure how much this cost to be honest, it was a while back now. Maybe 1500-2000

  • @soundslight7754

    As the bricks are going straight to a skip, why bother with removing the plaster?
    It caused a lot of dust and health risks in case it had any asbestos contents!

    • @CraigToddBrickwork
      @CraigToddBrickwork  2 місяці тому +1

      Good question mate, its because we use a grab wagon to remove the hardcore & they cant take plaster

    • @soundslight7754
      @soundslight7754 2 місяці тому +1

      @@CraigToddBrickwork Thanks Craig for this answer, it makes more sense now. Grab wagon was probably a choice: maybe lack of space, permitting, cost/labour or access was the reason you made that choice? Either way best of luck and take care of yourself also your team 👍

    • @CraigToddBrickwork
      @CraigToddBrickwork  2 місяці тому

      Thats it mate, space for a skip with out it getting filled by residents and also price is better for a grab + plus other hardcore from other work which can be in the grab too
