You can have great satisfaction knowing the pto is back in top shape and working as planned. The walking stick pad is a smart idea for a dust cover on the pto shaft. Thanks and take care Joseph
Hello folks! You guys do a great job getting the pto back on. The cameraman does a super job plus can help at the same time. I hope you pay him well. Excellent idea with the walking stick ends. Take care
Hello there Joseph and Iain!! Nice job mounting the PTO. Pretty tight quarters there but this is one time when having your small hands paid off Joseph!! Those dust covers are the cat's meow too. Looking good fellas!! Take 'er easy!!
Thank you. It is times like this that I wish my hands were even smaller. We have fitted a few PTO's to tractors of the same model so we have got the hang of doing it now. The dust covers work very well, we will have to get more for our other tractors. Take care
Glad to see the PTO installed - looks good. One suggestion I will offer is to engage the PTO lever (with the engine off) so the belts are pulled into the lower pulley grooves. Then use a 1/8" diameter drill bit or piece of 1/8" round rod (or metric equivalent) to verify there is a gap between the inner surface of the lower belt guard and the outer surface of the belts and pulley all the way around the lower guard - this will verify that the belts won't be rubbing on the guard when the PTO is engaged. If there is not enough clearance you should be able to adjust the belt guard so it drops a smidge - the bolt holes in the belt guard brackets are 3/8" diameter and the bolts used to hold the guard on are 5/16" diameter. This allows for a bit of adjustment so the belts clear the guard when the PTO is engaged but are still "trapped" by the guard when the PTO is disengaged so they don't try and turn the PTO shaft.
Hello Joseph. For as hard it was to work on and film, you and your Dad did a great job. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works. Take care my friends 🔧👍
Great series on the pto rebuild. And, those caps are perfect for the pto. I imagine they are much less expensive and much easier to find than the original covers.
Thank you very much. The originals have not been obtainable for many years and are very hard to find now. It did take us a while to find a good alternative but they were not expensive, we should put a link in the description to help others with the same tractor. Take care
I like the nice blue belt! The PTO looks good and you two used teamwork effectively to get it installed. Filming a project is always more difficult than just doing the work, as you are well aware. Good work! I'm catching up on my UA-cam watching after a busy week! All the Best to you and the team.
Thanks 👍The belts are kevlar belts made by PIX and I think they are an Indian company. The belts work well and we have used them on a few of our tractors. Take care
Nice to have it at the ready 👍 Spring must be well along there yes ? Things are really filling out here now, nice to not be seeing the neighbors every time we look or go outside ! See you next time !
Thanks. Our spring weather is very late this year but it is started to warm up, we just need it to stop raining. It is surprsing how quickly hedges green up and block the view. Take care
Well done Joseph, it’s always difficult to work in tight quarters 👍🏻. I use something similar for the PTO on my front mount quick hitch, it’s rubber feet for step stools except they are not as long as your model. Have a great week 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
Thank you. The rubber feet from a step stool is a great idea, we will look to see what ones are available over here. Take care and I hope you have a great week too
Nice job fellas. Great idea on the dust cover. The original one looks like a steel chair leg cover foot. Great explaination. I like the two belt drive, I’ve often wondered why some of my pto driven equipment doesn’t have two drive belts, especially for the snow throwers and tillers. Have a great upcoming week. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks. I did not think of steel chair feet, that is a good idea. Some Bolens tube frame tractors only have one PTO belt but I do like the two belt design. Take care
Thanks for the great video Joseph. I’m about ready to put mine back in so your timing is again perfect. I really like the idea of the dust cover. Can you mention the manufacturer and where you got it so I could order some too! Could you also demonstrate how you adjust the PTO lever to get proper belt tightness on the PTO belts? I like 29Chevy well he has great stuff on garden tractor forum! got a love Bolens tractors. Thanks again, Steve.
Thanks Steve. 29Chev has a huge amount of knowledge on Bolens tractors. We bought the dust covers from ebay, here is a link to the item www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284272832181 To adjust the PTO we aim to set the height of the PTO so that the belts start to tighten when the lever is 1-1/8 to 1-1/4 from the left side. In the comments 29Cheve has provided some great information about adjustments of the belt cover. Take care
I love the DIY walking stick dust covers. You are doing a great job on the rebuilds.
Thank you for the kind words. These projects are fun. Take care

Thank you very much. The rebuild PTO feels great and works very well on the tractor. Take care
Glad to see it on the machine after the process of rebuilding the pro. The dust cap was a great tip you received and passed along 👍
Thank you very much. It was a great project to rebuild the PTO and good to have it fitted to a tractor. Take care

Thank you for the kind words. I am sure the cameraman thinks he is worth more :-) Take care
Got it installed!! I like how you used the belts as a third hand. Well done!! Great Job Joseph!!
Thanks. We have put a few PTO's on this model of tractors and using the belts as a third hand is something we found to help a lot. Take care

Thank you very much. It is great to finally have a PTO on this tractor. Take care

Hey Joseph. Fine job, sir. The double belt on the pto proves its potential power supply. Great idea for the cane rubber.
Thank you very much. We do like the design of these PTO's and it was interesting to rebuild one. Take care
Looking good. The dust cap idea is very cleaver.
Thank you very much. It was great to find an alternative to the standard dust cover. Take care
Another great video and the walking stick cover trick is a good one…..CHEERS
Thank you very much. It was good to finish this project and have it fitted to a tractor. Take care
That went on well! V belts and jockey pulleys are always a bit fiddly till you get them set up right, then they just work! Well done Joseph!
Phil
Thanks. We have installed a few PTO's on this model of tractor before so I think we are slowly getting the hang of how to to it. Take care
Tight place to work for sure Joseph. Nice job getting it all together. Thanks for the video !
Thanks. It can be a struggle fitting a PTO on these tractors but it is something we have done a few times now. Take care

Very nice install Joseph and a very good idea for the dust cap !! 👍🏻
Thanks 👍 I am pleased you liked it. Take care
Good video Joseph, and that was a great idea using the walking stick ends for covers 👍
Thanks 👍 The walking stick ends work very well and look very similar to the originals. Take care
And now shes happy, nice job mate
Thanks. We have been wanting to put a PTO on this tractor for a long time. Take care
Nice job!
Thank you very much. Take care

Good work, I bet its nice to finish up this project and move on
Thanks. It is always good to finish a project and small projects like this are a lot quicker. Take care
Another job well done experience from rebuilding one will help to rebuild all the others
Thank you. We have a lot of this model tractor and I suspect we will be rebuilding a lot of these PTO's. Take care
Great video you should start a small engine repair thanks for sharing
Thanks. We have done a few jobs for others but it is much more fun working on our own projects. Take care
Thanks
Thanks for watching and I hope everything is good with you. Take care
Good afternoon Joseph
Hello Gary, I hope everything is good with you. Take care
Finally getting some much needed rain here.
It’s coming at a bit of an inconvenient time for me, but we desperately need it all the same.
We have had a very wet winter and we need some dry weather now. I hope your rain does not cause too many issues. Take care
good idea by using dust covers from cane tips.. bolens didn't make changing belts very easy.
Thanks. You know all about the fun fitting Bolens belts but it is hard to expain the challenges to someone who has not done it before. Take care

Speaking of rain, we are getting our share here.
We have had a very wet winter. I hope you do not get flooded. Take care
I love the DIY walking stick dust covers. You are doing a great job on the rebuilds.
Thank you for the kind words and for following my videos. Take care
