Wow! It was hard to appreciate the size of that thing, until you had the 20 lb propane bottle next to it at the end! Its HUGE! Your review was great. There was definitely a tremendous amount of engineering that went into this design, both for form, function, heat dissipation, long life, and maintenance/service. Seeing all major components right at the access door on special brackets and mounts, and all major items easily accessible and well laid out. Seeing a 2 cylinder air cooled engine but with full pressure lube, meaning an actual oil pump in the pan, and not splash lube. Plus the special vents for the alternator and oil cooler. Automotive grade air filter on the top. This is impressive engineering. And getting one step closer to making built in models, I'm guessing. Between Genmax and Duromax, they would take over the built in market with Briggs/Kohler/Onan on the small residential standby market...
Well said ☝🏽
Thanks for the comment.
I believe with this being one of the largest portable inverter generator available on the market, it definitely shows that whole home backup is capable using a single unit.
Paralleling is still an option for increasing power output and having redundancy.
This is definitely a game changer 👍🏾

We're thrilled to be part of your video content. Thank you!
Thanks
Good video, I have the XP9000IH; it's a good unit for the money. The XP16000IH looks like it could power everything in your house although a soft start upgrade on a home A/C unit may still be needed. I always check my propane connections with soapy water to maker sure there are no leaks and I ground the unit before running it. I don't need a fire. This video reminded me that I need to do my monthly generator run on my XP90000IH to keep it in shape. 👍👍👍
👌🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I am just wondering since I've never done it before, but how do you ground the generator properly? Like do you literally drive a copper stake into the ground and run a ground wire to the generator, or do you just need to find some way to connect it to your house ground in the panel somewhere?
I run my generator in the backyard. It's far away from the power panel. I have an old roof antenna that was installed by me in 2004. It is grounded with an 8 foot copper ground rod hammered in the ground. I have my 25 foot ground wire attached to this ground rod with a clamp and rolled up. When I run my generator, I unroll the connected wire and connect it to the generator. When done, I disconnect it and roll it back up for future use. If you decide to install a ground rod, just make sure there are no utility lines where you're going to hammer it in. @@petef.4361
Wow, another Gold Bullion delivery. The generator is a bonus. Really like the new intro. The power rating keeps increasing, sweet. You will be able to power your entire State at this point in an outage. Guess the "Go Big or Go Home" motto is your new T-Shirt Logo. Cheers.
Lol 😂 I like it my new T-shirt logo
That thing is a game changer for home back up.
Been waiting for this on UA-cam. You’re the first to review it.
Yessir thanks bro 😎
🎉
I think a video of this 16000 vs two 9000s paralleled would be a good one. Compare sound, power response with load on eco mode, cost comparison Thanks for the videos. Very helpful when shopping for a generator.
Agreed 👍🏾
I would love to see this or versus 2 Genmax 10500 in parallel
Glad to see them innovating, now if they could get the oil filter on a swing arm for no mess changes 👌
Staying tuned for the load test and 5 ton AC test
Wow Gavin, that's a monster gen. Glad to see that Duramax is out with this size inverter gen. I'm sure Champion and Genmax will follow soon. Would love to see you do some propane runtime test on this 16K monster.
Muy, muy grande! ⚡⚡⚡⚡💪💪💪💪
I was confused at first why the two 50 amp two pole plugs and then I realized that with parallel operation, you would plug in two RVs into one of the two generators.
That is one of the nicest units I have ever seen. The only thing I want is a lower price. Beyond that, very lovely gen.
Yes!! Very nice unit and lots of features too
That’s a beast for sure.
I think this is the first time you’ve recommended not going to synthetic until after the third or fourth oil change. I usually go full synthetic on the first oil change. Tell us more about this please. Thanks.
You got it I’ll mention it in the first oil change video
I used amsoil break-in oil on my xp9000ih per amsoil instructions and have been on synthetic since day one.
One other thing my dad always mentioned was that propane burns REALLY clean. Does it hinder break in? I doubt it, however I broke mine in on gasoline since I'm a glutton for punishment.
The GODDDD-ZILLA of portable generators! At least for now. Shout out to Matt's RV Reviews.
No, that’s what I’m talking about That looks like a beast of a generator. I don’t know why you would need to parallel unless you’re running a mansion. 😮 excellent video as always keep them coming.
Thanks 🙏🏾
This is the generator i have been waiting for. Looks easy to convert to ng.
That thing is a beast!!!!!
Another great video !!!!
Gavin is the best!!!!
Thanks 🙏🏾
Thanks for the video and looking fwd to the next ones on this monster of an inverter!!!
This is a beast! Looks very well built.
How do you hook it up to a large propane tank (over 120 gallons)? Because it does not make much sense to run it from small lpg tanks, especially for long power outages!
Oh my lawd, What in the world is that!!
Amazing bro
I can't believe you got that beast running on a 20lb tank. I would've thought the pressure would be too low.🤯
The tank looks like a shot glass sitting next to it. 😅
@@GeneratorReviewsisnt that what the regulator is for tho? I would think a 20G propane would be ok
Exactly the same design as the Predator Generator from Harbor Freight. But this one has more power. I cannot believe how quite this DuroMax is.
Nice introduction 👍. Yeah this is a massive piece of engine alright. Great overview & Test video. Thanks.
Thanks 🙏🏾
Great 👍 generator on UA-cam videos
Thanks for watching and subscribing👍🏾😎🙏🏾
Holy lightening bolts Batman. This will power Gotham with no problem
😂🤣
I'd like to know the THD (total harmonic distortion) on this unit.
For the first start you should start the generator with the eco throttle on that will keep the engine rpm low. And power a load that has periodic changes in load like an air conditioner.. the engine should exercise rpm every few minutes and then you should do an oil change in the first 2-6hours and then at 20hours and after that every 100 hours like the manual says..
In a engine with oil filter you can skip the 2-6hr oil change.. and replace it after the first 20hours.
Don't keep a constant load on new generetor if you want it to last long!
I am enjoying your videos. I just bought this monster of a generator need to know break-in process according to your specs.
wow…that’s a bad-boy!! 🚀🚀🚀
My favorite part is when you said run the 5 ton ac and the rv at the same time
I was waiting for this video
Such a beast!
I have a duromax generator and it is one thirsty fella.
Wow!!! What a hog!!! Looking forward to the test/service video!!!
this thing could power a small city!!
Great review! This is a beast !!! Super sleek Duromax .
Thanks 😊
Thank you for the Info.
Looks like a beast.
Can you explain how you would incorporate two 50 amp plugs for your backup. I know I could connect one of them to a 50 amp breaker using an interlock. How would you add the second?
I would be interested to see a fuel consumption video at say betwen 60-80% load variable like if you were running your house off of it, to compare to a smaller 9.5kw inverter that i have on propane.
You should do a video on how to parallel two solar power stations together to power an RV roof a/c unit.
ua-cam.com/video/iyPxyobMCbw/v-deo.htmlsi=8ZRvLtkbCeVcu9p6
It needs bigger wheels. It will not roll easily in grass especially when it's wet.
I'm really curious if they have one large inverter in there or two smaller ones in parallel.
That’s a great point I will definitely check!!
Now I'm looking for a new house with a third garage bay just for this generator
lol 😂 now that’s funny
Dude! That thing is a beast!!
One thing I’d be curious about is serviceability. I get the impression that some of the other generator brands on the high-end are more serviceable. (Honda, Kohler, generac). My father-in-law had a Duramax (I believe) breakdown and none of the local mechanics could work on it. If I’m gonna pay 5K for a machine, it’s got to be serviceable outside the warranty.
Gavin, this unit is a bonded neutral unit.
I have an interlock kit on my house panel. The interlock kit does not disconnect the bonded neutral at the first panel. NEC says to not run a bonded neutral generator when there is another bonded neutral (at the panel). Do you know if this unit can be made to run as a floating neutral, and then the generator should be used only with the house interlock kit. In other words, the generator if setup as a floating neutral, when connected to the house becomes bonded at the 1st panel. Do you know from Duromax if this generator can be setup as a floating neutral?
Any Generator can be converted into a floating neutral
No pull start on this beast!
It would probably break your arms off if you try to pull start this 😅
👍👍👍
😎👍🏾
Ring seating on propane fork truck engines has been a problem because the propane burns so cleanly. I broke in (ran in) the engine on my dual-fuel generator using a tank-full of ethanol-free gasoline so that the rings would seal quickly. I am considering adding a 3rd option of natural gas as the gas companies frequently have their own power systems to keep the gas flowing in the event of an electrical outage. Natural gas is cheaper than propane.
I Noticed there's no pull start on this behemoth! 😄
Now available in the UK with a Senci badge, just for those of us looking for the largest inverter machine available...
Hey Gavin, I know you said you were going to make a video servicing the 16000ih, oil change, air filter, spark plugs, ext….. I also have a 16000ih and I have been doing my break in and coming up on my oil change. I have seen in some post about how tight of a working space it is and a bit challenging. Would love to see how you handle this…. I love your insights. Thanks brother🙏
Hi gavin- i saw that you used a regular 20g propane- with all your experience have you had any issues running these gens on 20g propane tanks- lots of groups im in say to use a 40G minimum to keep it from “freezing up? What can you tell me about that
Yes it is better to use a 40 lbs bottle because the 20 will freeze if you run the generator at over 50%.
can't wait for it to be tri fuel
A 20 cylinder 4MW Caterpillar C175-20 would be the go to generator if your going to charge cell phones etc. That's four million watts, or 4000kw.
Stupid question - why does it need two 50 AMP/240v outlets if it can only output 50AMP max?
Also - can you hook two of these in parallel to get 100AMP/240v for a large house?
Yes, it is parallel capable
How about height, width, depth?
I will mention that in the next video thanks for the recommendation
Genmax has one like this as well, I think its tri fuel.
Yes coming soon
What timing... Bought the Genmax 9k & it's great, but this output would be ideal. Looks like they upped their game by going to an oil filter setup. With the weight of this...the oil drain tube was smart also being that moving this around to do maintenance is not likely. My only disappointment in Genmax is the remote start doesn't work...it'll only shut it off.. this looks like the exact same remote...
I want to buy one but confused on how you can achieve full wattage when your 50amp receptical is only rated for 12500 max wattage.
It’s rated for 13,000w running that only leaves you with 500 leftover which is perfectly fine. You don’t have to run at 100%
I'm really curious to see if it keeps time on the time M my 9000i H I had to send it back and they didn't give me all my money back wasn't happy
Can you show us how to do two of these in parallel connection and do load tests as well as power output tests? I want to get 2 of these, however it just seems too good to be true, so i want to see it tested.
Gavin, can you cover how to connect the dual 50-amp outputs to a home circuit breaker panel (if that is even possible)? Having the dual 50-amp outputs seems to be a waste if you can't utilize both with respect to powering your home.
I agree with you and that would be so nice having all that power at your disposal.. more power 😅
That will not work. The two 50 amp outlets can not put out the 50 amps each, and the power would be out of phase from one to the other.
It’s not really a waste when your using it on the back of a truck to power tools for your mobile welding business. I could have two welders running at the same time or since I work by myself if I were to get a fancier set up I could have one welder hooked up and permanently wire up a plasma cutter or air compressor or something.
That beast is intriguing but at that price point, it's more affordable to invest in dual 9000ih and parallel kit them.
Their parallel kit only makes it a 240v system not 120/240.
Okay so while you'd have to split the legs down to 120, each is independent whether it's one generator or two, so it's still possible to draw unbalanced. @@renearrazola6599
I'd need a 500-gallon tank buried in my backyard for a 5-day outage, 😂
5 years 😳
I need one ☝🏽 also
😅😅
Curious what your run times have been? I see your box said 10.5 hours at 25%. The Duromax website says 18.2 hours at 25%, and 10.5 hours at 50%. Which is more accurate in your real world usage?
I use the 40 pound propane bottle ran it about 25% and I got around 18 hours
i should of gotten something like this instead on my crappy 8k generator
Wonder how long that fuel tank lasts at say 50-65% load
Westinghouse has a 10k open frame inverter just came out not too long ago
Gavin, how do you calculate propane usage? For instance a 20lb tank will last for how long? Or for every hour the generator is on how much propane will it consume?
The Duromax XP16000iH, along with its 10.6 gallons fuel capacity, can run for around 10.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 1.01 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for around 3 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.57 GPH).
Hello Gavin, that thing is a monster! Do you sell any of the generators you purchase after you test them?
I sure do usually sell them locally or if somebody wanted me to ship it to them at their cost.
I figured you could sell them in Florida easy enough.@@GeneratorReviews
Being Harbor Freight has been getting into bigger generators, they might have something of this capacity soon.
Gavin you got the hook on that price? I have a super nice Predator 9500 inverter trying to decide to parallel or get that I wish I knew then what I know now!!! Why don’t they make a portable inverter with one 100 amp plug with Bluetooth
I learned hard lesson on all this and main lesson is…. portable power that isn’t diesel powered that’s not direct wired isn’t for whole house power and have to use an inverter because of sensitive electronics. I priced the 22kw Generac whole house should have just went that route Now I am playing grab ass truly tying to piece together something efficient but if I get that 16000 or parallel 2 9500 I am still half the price without the flexibility but it’s been a frustrating experience to say the least
These huge generators sure are cool, but with a gasoline consumption of around 23 gallons per day at 25% load, I just don't see how practical it is as a home back-up? How do you handle a power outage that lasts multiple days? I guess hope you can still fill gas cans....or have a large propane tank you can tap into? Thanks for all the great videos!
Lots of people out where I’m at have 500lbs or bigger propane tanks you could hook up to. But really I think this thing would be better suited for a service truck or running mobile offices out of semi trailers and such.
How long does it run with the 20lb propane?
Provides around 3 hours (on a 20 lbs. tank - propane consumption around 1.57 GPH) of operation with propane.
Lots to love about this monster, but the price point doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when a pair of Genmax GM7250iEDC is around $2800.
I really would like to get one of these for a home backup. I know you just got the unit in, but I was wondering as a rough guesstimation. how many hours of operation do you think you could get out of 100 pound propane tank at half load?
I understand this should probably be a ballpark figure because the engine understand is absolutely massive
When using propane, it can run for around 3 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.57 GPH).
So a 100 lbs tank I think would be around 15 hours
Just need info on the oil filter and air filter
Gavin, do you think this generator would withstand commercial daily use?
Yes with proper maintenance and service I do.
@@GeneratorReviews I have a 2kw fiber laser cleaning machine for my
Mobile business, but the last stage is finding a suitable generator that can deliver! Minimum 12kw and on the quieter side would be preferred
Why can't we have stuff like that in europe?? Maaan its cool.. The largest inverter generator I can find here with 230/380V 50hz is 7000w..
Gavin please clarify
Does this Duromax inverter have a bonded neutral or floating neutral?
Ty Sir
This one, the XP16000IH has a bonded neutral.

can you add a NG kit to this?
You’ll have to check if someone has manufactured a kit
High rpm engines only last half as long.!!😉
Will it run your 5 ton ac without the soft start?
No, it’s gonna need a soft start by not having a soft start. You’ll pull way too many amps towards the AC starting up.
@GeneratorReviews thanks for the fast reply, can you show the sine wave on full house stationary nat. Gas, and other generators non inverter, thanks your the best.
Natural gas conversion kit available yet?
I will check and update you with a video later.
A little dissapointed that it's not natural gas compatible
Tri fuel would’ve been nice
Who will be next to make one of these as well? Leave you comment 's. Thanks
Until the price point comes down, I not sure how many will. You can purchase two xp9000ih for the same cost and be wattage ahead.
@@tomroth2634 oh yeah for 5 grand that's a lot of cash
Westinghouse and GenMax. And possibly Champion.
@georgezaid9155 disagree. Aipower and genmax. Champion and westinghouse dont do larger inverters. And westing house has a 20000watt generator already that's cheaper and has
@@tomroth2634true but you'll be limited to the single 50 amp plug off the parallel kit. But it would be easier to move 2 smaller generators than one big one. I agree that this won't sell well till the price comes down. Hopefully at least $1000

Just click the link that he provides in the description.
This is what's known as "over-kill" unless you have a ton of fuel to burn. During an extended power outage fuel can be hard to come by. Nice unit, but I don't really see the practicality.
This unit is perfect for the food truck and mobile business looking for clean energy for their business. The average Food Truck has two ACs four refrigerators one hood vent stack then you have kitchen appliances like blenders, toasters, lights, microwaves, coffee makers.
So this generator is perfect for large homes, mansions and commercial needs.
