I just want to thank you so much for the recent video you made about sizing your knit garments, and with gauge issues. Because I literally found myself in that situation, and I am now knitting the small not the medium, knowing it may land somewhere in between lol. I was about to get frustrated and put it aside for months before I remembered that was an option!! ❤
I’m a slow knitter compared to the individuals I watch online and I’m ok with that. 🙂 I enjoy my process and I find if I try to speed up unnaturally I make mistakes which cause me to not enjoy my favorite hobby so cheers to the sloth knitters 🥂

I’m all for slow knitting. However, I recently completed a cardigan in a bulky weight yarn in 3 weeks. I blocked it and after it dried, I tried it on and hated it. Loved the yarn, hated the fit. My husband called it a failure. No, I said, I love this yarn. I get to knit with it all over again, and I’m one step closer to a garment I will love.
I, too, am a sloth knitter. I used to feel bad about that, but knowing there are other sloth knitters makes me feel that it’s ok to be slow and to enjoy the making, that it’s not about speed and quantity.
So nice to see a video where a project took more than 2 weeks.. I've been getting such knitting anxiety from people completing a sweater in under 3 weeks but I loved this. The new angle is super cosy and I'm here for it :)
I fully agree on your words! ❤❤I don't have time (and the need tbh) to knit all day long as a mother and employee. I still love the community even if it sometimes is a lot

My favorite finished project is a poncho I made for myself. Just a simple, no frills pattern but I wear it all the time in cold weather. I used Knit Pick’s Simply Wool Twist in the color Wallace and Wanda which I just love.
I crochet a lot. Like a lot. I have anxiety and crochet makes me happy and excited for life. All my pieces are "quality" because they served a valuable purpose in my life. There should never be judgements on how little or how much you produce as long as you are happy or the quality of the yarn. This is a hobby... you can enjoy your hobby every day or once in a while. I love when content creators show all their projects :)
Thank you so much for this video. I wasn't going to watch it because I am so sick of the "everything I made" videos. I'm a slow knitter, and it is hard not to compare my small stack. I had a lot of fun watching your video, as always, and you make me feel better about being a slow process knitter, and taking time to enjoy making. My favorite thing I knit in 2023 was a pair of socks for my mom, because she loves wearing them, and sends me pictures all the time of the socks on her feet.
Huh. What I see in all the what-I-made videos is stacks of stuff I get to look at, hear about, learn about and get inspired by. So I like them a lot. A competitive/braggart element never occurred to me.
it's definately quality (versus quantity). I made a shawl last year that took 8 months! But it is large and lovely!
“Emphasize more quality and joy” These thoughts were so meaningful to me in a completely different sector and I thank you for it. It was a message that I absolutely needed to hear. I always appreciate your real talk. My fav project this past year was a cropped cardigan with yarn I picked up (on quite an adventure 😂) in Germany. ❤️
My hugely flawed Flax sweater was my favourite. It was my first sweater and some of your videos with approaches about adjusting patterns to gauge made it not sound so hard and gave me the guts to try so thanks for that. I used very inexpensive acrylic yarn which also gave me nerve and I wear it all the time to cook and clean and garden because ….who cares if it gets stained or ruined. I made it and I love it. A great cross section; me too.
I’m really glad we’re having conversations about quantity vs the quality of our knitting experience. Thanks for talking about that. I have two favorites from 2023, and both are important milestones. The first was an Oscar cardigan for our toddler great nephew, that I made while he and his family were visiting. People in Winnipeg stop his mom and ask where she got it! 😊 It was my first finished garment and I had to get over my fear of seaming so they could take it home! My second favorite was my Geogradient Shawl, the Westknits MKAL. I’ve purchased kits before - some not started, some started, none finished. This time I purchased a budget-friendly Holst Garn Supersoft kit, and it released all my angst and insecurities. I finished it! I love the result, and I never get tired of breathing in the sheepiness of the yarn. ~Brenda

Thank you for this video! I, personally, enjoy watching the "Everything I knit" videos, but they do sometimes make me feel like I am not a productive enough maker. However, many of these content creators have waaaay more knitting time than I do. I'm a mom of four children under the age of 10, I am newly self-employed AND trying to finish up my MA degree on the side. I feel very represented by you. My stack of knitting is as humble as yours. I am very proud of the fact that in 2023 I, for the first time, I fnished garments for myself. I've been knitting for almost 30 years, but I had yet to make a garment for myself. I fnished a (very modified) No Frills Pullover out of the first hand-dyed yarn I've ever bought and I knit two summer t-shirts for myself. I knit a lot for my children, who enjoy wearing their knits. My proudest knit of the past year is probably a colorwork yoke sweater, that I knit for my 6yo daughter, from yarn I purchased during our family vacation to Denmark.

I really enjoy the retrospective episodes most of all when the knitters use the perspective they've gained over the year to go over which things they made that didn't turn out to be as useful or wearable as they thought they would be, and why. I'm thinking specifically of Amy at NeKnits, but she's not the only one. This kind of honest assessment is really interesting and informative and prompts me to think about the things I've made that are just sitting around, and how that might influence my choices in the future. I'm a huge fan of the review videos when they're presented this way.
My first pair of socks is my favorite thing I made!! Now I'm a sock addict lol
I’m glad to know I am not the only person who doesn’t knit a bunch of projects throughout the year.
The one thing I created in 2023 was a pair of socks that actually fit! It took me a while to realize that my foot shape did not match typical patterns AND that I could customize as needed. Now everyone in my family is asking for custom socks!

I liked hearing your take on the trend of yearly round up videos! I don’t make knitting content but I consume a lot of it and I prefer the round up videos where the creator takes the time to talk me through the details of their makes and their feelings about the process and their finished garment. Whether they’re showing me 5 pieces or 45 pieces, I get more value out of that than the creators who, like you said, just fly through the projects without providing any details in a “look at this and this and this and this” way. However, I do find that I benefit from the creators who do have large stacks of makes because their opinion on what patterns or yarns worked for them is taken from a wider pool of options which helps me (someone with a budget who doesn’t make knitting content as part of a job and with a limited amount of time) decide what patterns and yarns will make my priority list in the coming year. Just wanted to share my perspective bc I loved hearing your take!
I honestly completely share your perspective here and I feel like you really hit it on the head. Folks who knit a lot of items, potentially have a lot of insight and if they share that insight in a meaningful way that helps inform others, that’s fantastic. I’m here for that. So yeah. Thank you. I'm a product knitter, vs. a process knitter, which means that I make LOTS of things per year. I found great joy in gifting more than usual in 2023, which was just the most fun ever. THE most favorite thing of the year is hands down, the scarf I wove on my new loom! I took a class in the fall, and fell in love with the process. The third one was a simple striped warp of two tonal solid hand dyes, with a weft of variegated hand dyed (all Bad Sheep Yarn in sport weight). It turned out SO gorgeous, and became a Christmas present for my sweet daughter. When she sent me a picture of her wearing it, my heart was full!
I made 3 quilts, my first ones ever! I also made 3 quilted table runners. I also learned how knit on magic loop with the Worlds Simplest Mittens by Tin Can Knits.
My favorite thing I knit in 2023 was my Ranunculus!!!

My favorite thing(s) I knit in 2023 were gift sweaters for my brother and new sister in law as wedding gifts! Not only was I really proud of the sweaters themselves, but they were perfect knit gift receivers and send me pictures of them wearing the sweaters all the time which makes me so happy!
My favorite thing that I knit in 2023 was socks for myself. Toe up... and extra strand of alpaca on toes and the bottom of the heels. They are so warm and cozy.... I started them as a gift for my granddaughter... but she has tactile sensitivities. So I said, "Oh goody... I'm keeping these!" Best decision ever. Lol. Great ramble Tayler! ❤

I wear them all the time and love the process. As well as that they are simple enough to show case the yarn, endless possibilities of yarn, and of course how practical and useful they are.
My favorite thing that I made in 2023 wasn't even made for me, it was made for my mother-in law and it was a jumbo yarn blanket for Christmas. The thing was huge and heavy, but her face was priceless when she saw it. I love making things for others more than making things for myself!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved this video. I have only been knitting for a year and a half and have only just started knitting garments. I gift a lot of my knits. I’m amazed at how much some people knit. But I know that is not me. My favorite thing that I knit was the friend to friend shrug. I knitted several and I could see my knitting improve. Happy Knitting 🧶

My favorite thing I made in 2023 is my first pair of socks. I didn’t have to take a class, as I usually do, and “taught myself” with various UA-cam videos. I now have the sock knitting bug and have just finished my 2nd pair of socks!
3 things:
1) Favorite thing I made: I made a blanket/afghan for my dad. He has been using the same one for at least 40 years, and it was starting to get holes in it. Luckily, I started knitting in August 2022 and kept pushing myself to learn new techniques with almost every project. In September of 2023, I finished the blanket in Tuck Stitches by Nancy Marchant (with extra length and width to make it the size dad wanted). Not only is it something he gets joy showing others, but I also learned brioche foundations.
2) I am all about you making the pattern for your improvised t-shirt. I absolutely love it!
3) Here Here!! (On your comments of quality over quantity). I try to limit consumerism for many reasons (financial, sustainability, etc.) While I love knitting, I truly enjoy using it as an opportunity to slow down and appreciate what I have around me. I would never be able to enjoy this craft as much if I was just focusing on cranking out one thing after another.
My favorite thing I made in 2023 was a simple hat made from yarn that I spun myself. This hat was made from wool spun and plied on my drop spindle. I gifted it to my husband for Christmas. I have you to thank for my most satisfying crafting experiences yet. It was a video I watched back in August of 2022 that inspired me to dive in! Down the rabbit hole and loving it here. :)
My favorite 2023 thing was the Alden sweater by Jennifer Steingass. It's a fingering weight, color work sweater (!!!), and it fits! I got to be a little creative by working a couple extra colors into the yoke design. I think it's my favorite most of all because I was patient enough to cut off the sleeve cuffs (they were too tight) and redo them instead of just living with a sweater that would disappoint me every time I wore it. I did a grown-up, mature thing in 2023, with yarn. 😁
I've been knitting for three years, and this last year my favorite projects were socks. Until July 2023, I had only knit one pair of socks, and now I've done 7 more. 2 pairs were gifts.
My next favorites are the two baby blankets I crocheted for friends.
Third, I gave away every single blanket I've ever knitted/crocheted to various people, including a 3 year old who was jealous of his baby sister's crocheted blanket. He won't get in the car without it.
Last but not least, I made a beautiful one sleeve poncho for a friend in October, and that weekend her father passed away. I'm so glad I had something for her!

Your version of the recap is so refreshing. It is a modest stack, as you say, but it’s a REALISTIC stack as well. I am always blown away by folks that have knit 20-30 sweaters… and Im thinking… how do you ever wear them all? I love that some of your knits are for yourself and some are gifts…that each one has a story. Quality over quantity for sure.
But I’ll also say, it was also just fun seeing what you knit and celebrate the accomplishments with you. So, done in the right spirit, the recaps can be fun. 😁 Never get tired of hearing about Frank!
Love the space you are recording in. My most successful knit was the Dustland Sweater for my partner, knitted in Cascade 220 heathers. I'm very late to the Ranunculus party and now knitting my 2nd, it is the most fun, fabulous pattern ever. I now get the hype. 🤩

My favorite project of 2023 was the Amaru Shawl. It’s a mosaic pattern, knit with Bicycle yarn from Stephen and Penelope’s. The yarn was a gift from my oldest male friend who was visiting Amsterdam last summer. He picked the yarn and colors himself as a surprise. I had no idea what to knit 4 contrasting 50 gram skeins of fingering until I saw this pattern. I finished it in time to wear on a trip to Salem with my friend for Halloween ❤
My favorite thing I made in 2023 was my Steinkriger sweater. After knitting a Dog Star for my husband for our trip to Scotland, I became jealous, purchased some Lettlopi, and whipped out my colorwork sweater in a week so I could have it for our trip! 😳😁 Make no mistake, I am usually a slower knitter, but I was determined to have this sweater for our trip. It usually takes me months to knit a sweater!
I enjoy watching the "Everything I made in 2023" videos. I don't knit, but I crochet. I don't compare myself to anyone else. If they made 50 items in a year, then good for them. I don't think I even averaged out to 1 item a month. I do have other things to do besides crochet. I thought my favorite items would be the ones I made for others that brought them lots of joy. I actually see them wear the items , and they receive compliments on them. But my favorite item was the hexagon cardigan I made with variegated yarn. I love the colors, I love the fit, I love how it feels on. AND, it was almost mindless to make.
My favourite thing in 2023 was the Fort jumper. It was the first jumper I knitted for my partner and I get a real sense of joy and pride whenever he wears it. ❤

Thank you for sharing! I agree with crafting being about joy and quality over quantity! Even so, when some people see it as a race, i think what's important for us viewers is to not being intimintiidated and trying to make tons of sweater or whatever in one year. Everyone has their own pace and preferences so just accept what kind of makers we are and go with it
My favourite item that I made in 2023 was my first ever attempt at hand spinning yarn on a drop spindle. I got a 4oz bump of BFL top from a local yarn shop and spun it all thick and thin and I didn't worry about consistency, just what the wool felt like as I drafted it in my hands. It was a beautiful brown and white and I was so happy with it that I made a chunky super textured cowl/headband (because it could work as either) and gifted it to my mom for her birthday. She was overjoyed with how soft and funky it looked. It encouraged me to keep learning to spin and ultimately opened the door to a whole new aspect of the craft.
I really hope you knit with your handspun it really helps to inform you about your yarn and how you want to grow with it. Not to mention just how special that finished handspun object will feel to you!
My favorite project that I completed this year was a set of embroidered tea towels for my daughter. She and her roommate love Studio Ghibli movies, so I embroidered some of the characters on the towels for them. I also knit hats and mittens for all of my kids this year, and they wear them which makes me so happy.
I love your take on it being quality over quantity, you've made all your makes very personal, which shines through. I'm eager for your Frankensweater pattern! My Miss 20 yr old came in while I was watching this video with "whatcha watching?", just at the point you had the photo of you wearing the Frankensweater on screen, she said "I would so wear that. I love it!" Made me happy as she's the only one of my tribe who isn't into wearing hand knitted things, though I did crochet her a black cotton halter top, because crochet tops are on trend here in Australia. My favourite knit this year has been The Ramson, a long rectangle shawl knit sideways in garter stitch with variegated autumnal coloured leaves & petals with grey/cream background. A gazillion short rows!
My fav make of 2023 is definitely my first handknit sweater. Theres many mistakes. And it's not a perfect fit but i love the color and i wear it ALL the time.
The thing I like least about many yarny podcasts is the section called “acquisitions” or, even worse, “my haul from” XY Yarn Fest-unless they’re linked to specific making ideas. Just a pet peeve. 🤷🏼♀️
My favourite item I knitted in 2023 was a couple of pairs of baby socks for a friend’s first baby 😊
I absolutely agree Tayler about these kinds of videos. These types of videos usually bother me because of the amount of knits people talk about, as I view knitting as the antithesis of fast fashion. My favourite thing that I started (but thus far haven't completed) is my Handsome Chris sweater I started in March 2023
I appreciate your emphasis on quality over quantity and FUNCTIONAL objects! I have seen some "what i knit this year" videos where creators have made PILES of sweaters and things and they admit they haven't worn so many of them even once. It seems so wasteful to me and should not be praised!
I made the Ranunculus sweater this year. I made it from a wool/cotton blend and added length to it to wear with leggings. It was so fun learning new stitches 😊
My favorite knit in 2023 was a vibrant c2c baby blanket. So fun & it brought me immense joy! The baby's parents loved it! Thank you for sharing your knits with us. I can't wait to see what we make in 2024!

My favourite thing I knitted in 2023 is the Robinia Sweater from Anne Ventzel. I love it! Not only the design is beautiful, the fit is spot on! I highly recommend this pattern!😍🧶
i knitted a throw originally for my grandma but she found it a bit heavy so I kept it and its my favourite thing to snuggle under, its so warm and cozy and i love the striping pattern on it, that was a lot of fun to do
I follow a lot of reading UA-cam accounts as well and I see the same issue with emphasis on number of books read, thumbnails with people holding huge stacks of books. I've made my peace with my pace of both knitting and reading during this season in my life, but your channel has certainly inspired me to try new techniques, tackle new projects, and get more creative with my knitting in general. It's definitely become more a priority in my crafting life and I'm so grateful for that! It's not about "how much" I'm knitting, but the satisfaction I get from the process and learning new things.
I have been a knitter most of my 77 years and enjoy it so much. I usually have more than one WIP. I watch a lot of knitting videos on UA-cam and I came across this one today and I love it.

My favorite knit in 2023 was a gift for a friend. I knit a Musselburgh Hat using Freckled Whimsy’s Cancer (Zodiac) colorway. It was a perfect fit for her and the thinner stripes looked amazing. I fell so in love with the way that it knit up that I also ordered Taurus (for me) and Aries (for my daughter). ❤ Thanks for sharing!
love seeing all your knits! My favorite knit from 2023 was a cardigan for a baby knit from deep stash, I ran out and added more yarn from deep stash and the most adorable teddy bear buttons. It turned out so CUTE! It went to the most knit worthy new mom and she was thrilled! Maybe later down the road the cardigan will be cute clothing for his bear? Who knows, doesn't really matter, just very happy my knit went out into the world and it's super cozy warm for a new little guy! I have knit other things, sweaters, socks, hats, but that baby cardigan was the most fun.
My favourite thing that I knit is actually 2: somewhere in November I decided I would knit my 2 little boys sweaters for Christmas. I chose different sweater patterns, some stash yarn and started madly knitting to get them done on time! It was actually really challenging and fun!
Unfortunately I knit nothing in 2023. I haven't knit in 4 years due to several things. But right now I'm working on a cowl for myself to get the inspo flowing and I'm loving it so much.
This was completely enjoyable as per usual, but I completely agree with your final statements about focusing less on quantity, even though I am a very fast knitter and complete quite a bit. There’s no point in doing this if we aren’t finding joy and meaning in the process. ❤ Also, I’m so happy to hear that you’re planning to write up the black tee!

There's nothing wrong with knitting quickly, if the process is joyful and meaningful. I mean, for a great deal of us, that's why we knit quickly. Becuase we're loving it! So I love that Heather. Loved seeing your finished projects! Wish I had kept track of everything I made! That said, I don't really have a "single favorite thing" I created in 2023 because I just enjoyed the process of making. I knit , crocheted, made pottery and dabbled into weaving. But you're absolutely right. Quality over quantity is always a good thing. 🧶 🧦👍
I think my favourite creative endeavour for 2023 was definitely releasing my latest book. I'd managed to burn myself out several years ago by taking on too much to the point my writing mojo died a horrible death. But it came back last year and it felt like such a relief to breathe life back into the thing that brings me the most joy. On the knitting side - I enjoyed finishing my second DRK Everyday sweater after it sat languishing for far too long!
I knit 4 hats for children for the holidays . I eel you are a talented knitter with this craft passed down not have to pay for it, but I do get the work it takes.

I knit and crochet but I'm a better crocheter. I hadn't really done either in about ten years. And I was so scared to attempt a sweater but I crocheted a sweater in 2023. First sweater, first wool project! Its so warm and lovely and it's made me so happy to work on other projects! And now I'm getting back into knitting!
Thank you for sharing your 2023 projects, I loved making a crochet blanket for my son as it’s the first thing he has actually asked me to make (he is 20 years old and rolls his eyes as our house full of yarn ) can’t wait to see what you make in 2024!

I’ve been trying to find a creative outlet for a while now that suits me. I’ve dabbled in poetry, acting, drums, drawing, beat-making, pixel art, film criticism, and probably others I’m forgetting, but none of them have really dug their claws into me like I hoped for.
I have anxiety and depression and heard many people recommend knitting as a creative, low barrier-of-entry outlet to help with that. So I’m getting my first needles and yarn in the mail tomorrow.
Your video stuck out to me for the style and design of your finished objects. They’re lovely and really inspiring. Thanks for sharing them and giving me some added enthusiasm for this upcoming foray into yet another new world of expression. Here’s hoping it takes.

My favorite knit in 2023 was my first published pattern for a circular knitting needle hanger. Writing a knitting pattern was never anything I ever planned, but when you can’t find a pattern for something you really need…. 🧶

You are so right I started knitting in 2016 wanting a sustainable wardrobe so I knit and thrifted addictively until I was swamped with far too much of everything and really confused about what to wear. I realised I needed to get analytical - what's practical, what colours work, what suits my body shape and what's my style. Massive bin bags went back to the charity shops knits have been adapted, dyed or frogged and finally I feel happy my wardrobe works. It could have been so much easier if I slowed down and thought everything through first!
this video actually gave me the idea to make a shawl that didn’t end up being as large as i wanted it into a scarf like how you made yours! it doesn’t go across my back like i expected so around my neck is perfect
I'm all about the slow fashion movement. I love both the process and the finished product, and when I make something, my intention is to wear it for years to come. That being said, I thoroughly enjoy all of the Everything I Knit videos. I always find inspiration, and I love to see how lit up people get when talking about their finished handmade items. Yours was extra special bc I've been watching you the longest, so it was like a trip down memory lane.
My favorite thing I made last year was the Hoarfrost shawl by Andrea Mowry. I used Purl Soho linen quill and it was not only fun to knit, but made for an absolutely stunning fo. I get compliments every time I wear it

I'm starting a second one this year. I am also for quality over quantity. We need to stop comparing ourselves. We don't all have the same reality. The important thing is the joy of creating (for me).

I appreciate what you said at then end of your video. I used to love watching videos of people organizing yarn, but then it would just end up a video of people talking about how having a large stash is bad and forcing their opinion. I like to watch what I finished type of videos more for inspiration, but I find more and more people choosing more harsh/strong wording for you to follow in their footsteps vs just look what I knit, look at my journey through out the year. There was one at the end of 2022 she said her goal was to knit less, and her goal at the end of 2023 was still to knit less in 2024. I love that because her knits in 2023 were more intentional then in 2022.
🌴☀️I personally LOVE to see “what I made” videos as it introduces female designers/dyers/makers I’m unaware of but mostly from people I already follow, it means ALOT bec I’m already interested in their content for ex: WNH🤭 My fav 2023 make was the Ranuculus, a wildly versatile garment bec you choose whatever yarn you want, cast on, and then after reaching a certain place in the pattern is where the sizing begins. Having the control over my knitting is all I ever wanted and this pattern provided that. Thanks so very much for this & ALL of your videos☀️🌴
I knit the Art Nouveau Fairisle sweater by Colorway Knits this year. I was absolutely in LOVE with the pattern colorway and the design. I was new to knitting sweaters and just "winged it" and it ended up being a size too small and the sleeves were about 2 inches too short for me. What was cool about this project is on of my dearest friends came over and loved the sweater and to my surprise it was EXACTLY her size! What started as a sad endeavor turned out to be an amazing gift for an amazing friend!
I finished my first ever sweater/tee knit on NYE. It's been on the needles throughout my year of maternity leave and my first 6 months back at work. It's kept me calm during some of the best and worst times, through a hospital stay away from my baby, losing half my sight, and through those insomniac nights of late pregnancy, and newborn crazy. I'm so proud of it, and of myself for finishing it. Even though I see it's flaws, I'm proud of what I managed to achieve. 🙂

Nice to see all your completed projects from 2023. Didn't you finish your Magnolia Bloom and Stripe Hype sweaters in 2023 also? My favorite project I completed in 2023 was a knitted baby blanket for a dear friend who had her first baby in 2023. Love your podcasts❤
My favorite completed project in 2023 is my temperature blanket, and for a few reasons. It is a simple garter stitch, done in 10 beautiful jewel tone colors. I started each day with a cup of coffee and knit two rows. This gave me a bit peace before having to encounter the world, and it has been a difficult year to say the least. I am from NCarolina but have been in Toronto since last March with my daughter who has been very ill (some better now). I did the high temperature from my town in NC, so this also kept me connected to what the days were like there. I'm taking this year off, but will definitely do this again in the future. Your knits are always so lovely and you are such an even keel person. I look forward to all the joy and knowledge you send our way. Thank you for your time and efforts, I know it is a lot of work.

There's probably a bias since I didn't watch that kind of videos out of my usual faves, but I enjoyed them for that reason and learned a lot.
I think that this is exactly what those videos should be. I'm here for that 100%. I think my initial gut reaction has a lot more to do with the optics of it and the emphasis placed on the "big stack of knits" in the thumbnails. And that's also because apparently I was being grouchy about it. Like it's not them, it's grumpy, sloth knitter Tayler who stands on a big quantity over quality soapbox. 😂 But yeah. I think that's great. A solid recap emphasizing the meaning and learning that was gleaned from the process is always good. ❤️

I knitted a couple of sweaters that I really love wearing. That’s not always the case. I also quilt. So I created a few quilts last year. Thanks for sharing. I agree quality over quantity. ❤
Happy you made one of these videos! I enjoyed your recap and your comment about quality over quantity. I’m there with you in that thought. However, I’ve been watching many of these 2023 recap videos…and what’s interesting to me is the feedback about the yarns used, wearability of the piece and also…to see the patterns used. I’ve already seen at least two patterns I want to make based on these videos.
I create junk journals repurposing antique books and ledgers. I've taken a 3 year break from knitting (except spa cloths) and am getting back into it.
Love your channel. I totally get the quality over quantity thing. I'm being more intentional in my consumerism and this will be a big part of it.
Hmm, I've never knit socks and am feeling this may be the year I try. I was raising my hand yelling me, me, me when you said that one pair of your socks were too big in your calves. 😂😅 😊 ❤

Since I just got back into knitting, the only thing I finished in 2023 was one sock. Don't think I can call that a favourite until I get around to making the other one 😄 However, I also knitted most of my very first sweater at the end of 2023 and finished it two weeks into 2024 and I absolutely love that piece 😊

I love that you're spinning, and your first two spins are excellent! My 2023 resolution was to finally learn to spin (I inherited my great-grandmother's spinning wheel, which is not exactly beginner friendly (especially since when we were kids, we didn't see it as a spinning wheel, but as a really fast race car and a fabulous pirate ship, and of course, we broke the footman, which is now held together with an elastic band.) I ended up getting a part time job to pay for an Ashford Kiwi 2, as well as an EEW-6, and I love them both. I've also spun up One Thursday's New Hampshire colorway (I live in NH, so I absolutely needed that!) and it's a beautiful Merino top to spin! I'm glad you jumped on the bandwagon - I love seeing what everyone has knit this past year and hearing what you like/don't like about the patterns/yarn you've used.
Hi, Tayler. Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷. My favorite 2023 knit was Belen Fernandez's Xarabia sweater. I already knit two: a pretty sedated gray and silver, and a sort of Barbie-ish orange and pink one. The pattern is so versatile that you can get creative. Thanks
This has absolutely nothing to do with knitting but I don’t think I realized how much your hair grew in a year until this video! I’m also growing my hair out but mine grows much slower probably because I get it colored so much 😅
But my favorite thing I made (I’m a crocheter) is a flower granny square esk blanket for my friend who had her first baby in October. It’s the most proud I’ve felt after finishing something since I started making in 2021
What I have liked is not a thing, it’s all the learning I did around all knitting and crocheting 🧶 All the podcasts and tutorials that have helped me. And mostly the people I know now because of our love of knitting that has brought us together ❤
Taylor, I appreciate you talking about quality instead of quantity. Being creative and especially knitting is not supposed to be rushed all of the time. It's a slow craft! Btw: I actually don't get why some knitfluencers knit 15+ sweaters or so ... nobody needs 15+ sweaters, especially when you consider how many times one can wear a woolen sweater without any need to wash it 😅
I actually have two things that I was so excited to finish last year. The first was a pair of hand-knitted (no duh), rainbow thigh-highs for my daughter (I LOVE them!!) and Petitknit Louvre Sweater for myself. I wear it ALL the time!!
I’m glad I dived into socks. I’m proud that I made one adjusted thing that I was not too fond of the feel on my feet and then decided to make the pair so while I’m not finished with the pair yet I have made valuable progress and know the things I have to consider when making patterns beyond a vanilla Sock.
I spent most of 2023 unable to knit - I hurt my arm in March and recovered from surgery in December. Most of what I made was on the Sentro because I could do that one-handed. I don't have a favorite item of 2023 - I have a favorite tool. #wnhmademedoit
I think my favorite thing I made this year was the Halibut Cowl by Boyland Knitworks. It was a challenge, but not too hard and I was blessed with lovely yarn that worked so well. It was a gift for my little brother and I know he'll get a lot of use out of it.

My favorite make of mine from last year are a pair of 2 feet tall all cotton crochet Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. They turned out soooooooo cute! Their clothes are even crocheted. ❤️
Hi Tayler. Such beautiful work. Everything is lovely. Thanks for showing us. My favorite object for 2023 was a knit cowl made with Mandala Sparkle yarn. It took one skein and cost me about 6 bucks! I have all this beautiful high end yarn in my stash but chose to buy this at Walmart on a whim and absolutely love it!😀🤗
I finally dug out and repaired and finished my Red Moon Sweater (which I hand dyed the wool for THAT pattern) and I absolutely love it. It's unique and I made a bunch of alterations that make me just so happy with it.
