The American record labels and Korean record labels are completely different. In America a label will scout you and pick you up as an artist. In Korea, you audition at a company in hope of being a trainee. If you pass and become a trainee, you train for years in sing/rapping and dancing and other things to debut. The company will then decide whether or not they’ll debut u in a group or as a solo artist. You debut with people you’ve been training with. Blackpink started training together since they were 14-15 years old, and they debuted in 2016.

@@babiekoala7643 Every group that debuts starts off with a rookie contract. Most agencies use that time in the contract to get their return on investment (that is time and money spent on trainees). During the rookie contract time, artists dont have much say when it comes to the creative process. YG entertainment trained the girls to write, produce, sing, dance, act, you name it. They already know how to do everything, but cuz of their agency, they cant show their true potential. During their training process, they were evaluated each month. At any time during their training years, they couldve been sent home if they werent good. They dont write? Jennie and Jisoo were actually part of the writing process for "Stay" ; but leave it to YGE to not give them credits. Who knows how many more stuff they werent given credit for. YGE is the problem, not the girls. The hype they're getting is very well deserved and BLINKS are very much aware of how shitty YGE is for mistreating the girls. They keep promising us new music and promotions, but they keep postponing everything. It has already been over a year since Jennie's solo, and we still havent gotten Rosie's. I can go on and on about this issue, but the point is that the girls are hella fking talented but they arent given the opportunity to showcase that properly.

Even if you make it in as a trainee at a young age, you still aren’t guaranteed a spot. Jennie has mentioned that a trainee left after three years. So imagine being away from home 4 to 6 years to participate in training camp or spring training at the age of 13-17 with no certainty you’ll make the team. Rules are strict and demands are high. Doesn’t sound like plant artists.

The sad truth is that the long gap between releases is partly due to their massive success. Because they’re making so much more outside of music combined with YG’s recent financial woes, BlackPink has spent the past year touring and endorsing. Each member earned over ten million US dollars in 2019. By far the most of any artist outside of BTS. Now with the Coronavirus hitting S Korea hard, further delay is expected.

In South Korean's music industry, you have to go under a training program (learn to sing, rap, dance, even foreign languanges) without any guarantee when you can debut. There are hundreds of trainees, but only few will be picked to debut. As Jennie said in an interview, every month they (YG trainees) had an evaluation, they had to perform a solo song, a group song, a dance routine. Company executives, producers, and some YG artists would judge them. Some people left after 3 days, some people left after 3 months. The training was that hard. For BLACKPINK, it happened for years (Jennie 6 years, Jisoo and Lisa 5 years, Rosé 4 years) before their debut in 2016. They had it rough though they never talk about it bluntly. every single Kpop group is formed by the company they are signed to. next to no group personally formed their own group like in the west. when you're a trainee under a company in Korea, the company narrows down choices of trainees and picks and chooses trainees to form a group they think fits the image they want. its kind of like a survival competition for the trainees to debut in a group.
Industry plant isn't a concept that exists in the South Korean music industry. Also, all bands like this - American or otherwise - are put together by labels. Do you know one person that can sing and dance at this level, let alone a person that also has three just as talented friends? It's not a thing that happens. Anywhere.

The reason why Lisa now has bigger fandom, is that Lisa is not the typical kpop idol and attracts international fans with her kinda western vibe/swag that mostly kpop idol don't have. And it's okay to love her, to have bias on her but please don't spread hate to her or to other members or idols. When some people say “don’t compare” it’s because this fandom has CRAZY toxic “fans” that are called “Blonks” instead of Blinks. Blonks can’t stand to see their bias not be the fav of someone else. That might upset some others, but it’s 100% true. When we say “love all equally” we know everyone is going to have a Bias (most favourited) but in reality we mean, please praise all even though you might have a fav. Those crazy fans will go off if you don’t say anything about their bias. Some reaction channels feed into it to and start saying bullshit like “I think this member isn’t as good as the others” or “this is the best one out of all of them” blah blah blah. So you’ll get a lot of people saying shit because of this constant problem in this fandom. It’s mostly between Jennie and Lisa though. They try to put them against each other and it’s just giving what the Blonks want. Which is to have people say that their bias is superior to the other. Personally Jennie is my fav. The first BP mv I watched was Whistle and Jennie stood out. She has a very smooth charm when she raps and it’s definitely my type of style. Now aside from all that, Lisa is highly liked bc she does have this certain tone when she raps, swag like. It’s very likeable and so, people tend to like her more as a rapper. Which I 100% get. It’s all about preferences tbh. Jennie just can’t do anything wrong in my eyes and is VERY versatile. When given the chance, she’ll kill ANY rap and put it to rest. Lisa used to be my bias but when I got to know more about jennie and the hell she went through being hated for being loved basically... she’s been my bias bc shes a fighter, she’s just this beautiful elegant classy girl who can flip into this sexy confident strong person on stage. There’s a Netflix documentary called “light up the sky” that is a great look at their story and who they are as people. Kpop low key is fucked up and in the last had heavy links with prostitution at bars/clubs for the rich and powerful . It’s supposed to be cleaning up the industry but kpop is nothing similar to western industries. They audition to become trainees under ygs label... but they train with just groups of girls and it’s like a school for them but focused on being able to debut at some point... it’s not the same as in the US. It’s like a label school and they teach them to sing/dance and learn to speak other languages so they can market them to wider varieties. It’s not like they just auditioned to be in blackpink .... they train together and live together in dorms so it’s like boarding school kinda and I think they sign kids even like age 10. So the training s THIRTEEN HOURS a day for THIRTEEN DAYS... then they get one day off and back to train. Your company does not choose for you to debut when you sign... there’s no guarantee that you’ll debut and the rigorous training process causes most trainees to quit before they debut. Jennie was the first one at yg I believe she was 16... so she trained for 6 YEARS before she debuted , Lisa trained for 4-5, jisoo same and rose was last training 4 years before debut. The first member to be announced for a group yg was trying to make... was jennie but the group was being formed before the other three even got there to train... it was supposed to be 9 members in the group... but girls kept going home and this special group of extremely hard working , talented young women became the group and they clicked from the first day they met and had a strong bond . They said it’s hard with how they train bc its so competitive and the trainees have these performances they have to give for the people who decide if they’re going to debut or not... and they would just keep trying different combinations of girls until they found what they thought worked. But for these like monthly performances the girls would have to choose a cover song to do with whoever they were grouped with, they would have to choreograph it themselves, figure out how to split the song up and who would do what parts, they had to pick their own outfits and everything... I think they had to write their own songs to perform sometimes as well... but they would want different dances to perform too... like krumping for instance ... and this is a lot of work for such young people... which is why most end up going home... it’s hard and very harsh and they don’t care if they hurt your feelings... it’s a brutal environment. These girls worked so well bc they all specialize in different things and there was no arguing about who got to sing what parts and who choreographed and who did outfits and just everything and they just clicked and worked together seamlessly!! Also something different is the money they make... even a group like blackpink can be shocking to hear how money works there... an ex kpop idol said that typical would be the label gets 80%-90% of the money... and the group get that 10-20 percent.... and that’s the whole group... not individually... which means the groups are splitting the 10-20 percent.... even after debut these idols are extremely overworked and unlike becoming big in the US.. they have very little control over their own careers.. they’re overbooked and overworked to the point where there are like hour long compilations of kpop idols passing out on stage for each year... there is also way too many of these idols committing suicide bc of the way they’re living and treated. I mean blackpink are not allowed to date which is common in Kpop, they can’t go to bars or clubs, get a drivers license , get tattoos or plastic surgery. It’s bad for both men and women but they’re is a different way of living in their culture which is very male dominated... so it’s just so much different than here. Even being huge like blackpink and bts .... it’s really sad knowing what they go threw and it’s considered normal... these idols eat sleep breathe working ... they have all of these shows that the idols will be put on and it’s them doing crazy tasks and interviews where the point is almost to embarrass them or make them uncomfortable ... there’s just a lot of shit and every idol works harder than they should have to but see way too little reward for that. These girls are not plants... they’ve been training together for like 8 years ... they are all each other knows and they don’t get breaks, and don’t see their families... eyes are on them 24/7. I mean jennie sprained her ankle at least 9 times in like 1-2 years... but she never took time off they never cancelled any shows or performances... so she’s out there in heels dancing and performing on a sprained ankle sometimes... the other girls probably have had similar situations that were hidden better. In the US anybody who is as big as blackpink is has control of everything... and that’s just not remotely the case for kpop idols. There were rumors that yg gambled blackpinks money away... which we don’t know if that’s true but we do know that it’s why blackpink wasn’t able to release more music... they have no control over it... even like releasing anything they do on their own is not a thing. They literally are always writing and recording demos.... and nothing comes from it bc of ygs money trouble. The girls are dying to release so much more but that’s not how it works. When blackpink did Coachella... they were coming off a tour, but bc of their success there.. . They did a North American tour.... these girls were on tour for NINE months out of the year... they’re all incredible and unfortunately their journey is not unique... this is common and it’s sad to see. Blackpink seems the happiest when they’re doing their own concert for blinks... and they’re all super sweet, compassionate humble and loving people.
Blackpink had to train for 5 years and damn it was really hard. They had monthly evaluations where they had to sing, dance, write a song etc and ot just one song. They also had weekly evaluations. Had to pick out their own outfits, choreograph and style themselves and all that. Weekly and monthly. Jennie said that it was a really cold hearted world back then because she witnessed a lot of her fellow trainees leaving because it was too hard for them or YG straight out kicked them out of the trainer system because they weren't good enough. In that sense the American way (scouting an artist etc) is more luck and the korean way has definitely a lot more to do with talent and skills.
It has been Lisa from day one! Literally from the first time a saw her in their debut MV Boombayah (which og fans know that Boombayah was released first and then Whistle.....even though they were both released for their debut)

YG training is brutal, it is very hard to debut from them than from other companies. Blackpink are supposed to be a nine or more member groups like Girl’s Generation or the current Twice and their debut keep pushing back a few years until they were whittled down to four. Jennie has been always been a sure thing and she was the first trainee to be acknowledged. Before debut Lisa and Jisoo has been speculated by the fans as well as some other girls. We now know when Rosé arrived for training (she was last chosen as part of the prospects I think) she was soon considered as a secret weapon and kept under wrapped. Its true they have a bigger chance for success by being part of YG but they have to work hard to grab their chances to debut and they still have to fight to get a chance for a comeback.

blackpink members went through the yg grinder. if yall didnt know yet, kpop trainees live in a constant competitive environment just to get the chance. literally hundreds even thousands of competitors at one time fight for a spot.
The American record labels and Korean record labels are completely different. In America a label will scout you and pick you up as an artist. In Korea, you audition at a company in hope of being a trainee. If you pass and become a trainee, you train for years in sing/rapping and dancing and other things to debut. The company will then decide whether or not they’ll debut u in a group or as a solo artist. You debut with people you’ve been training with. Blackpink started training together since they were 14-15 years old, and they debuted in 2016.

@@babiekoala7643 Every group that debuts starts off with a rookie contract. Most agencies use that time in the contract to get their return on investment (that is time and money spent on trainees). During the rookie contract time, artists dont have much say when it comes to the creative process. YG entertainment trained the girls to write, produce, sing, dance, act, you name it. They already know how to do everything, but cuz of their agency, they cant show their true potential. During their training process, they were evaluated each month. At any time during their training years, they couldve been sent home if they werent good.
They dont write? Jennie and Jisoo were actually part of the writing process for "Stay" ; but leave it to YGE to not give them credits. Who knows how many more stuff they werent given credit for.
YGE is the problem, not the girls.
The hype they're getting is very well deserved and BLINKS are very much aware of how shitty YGE is for mistreating the girls.

Even if you make it in as a trainee at a young age, you still aren’t guaranteed a spot. Jennie has mentioned that a trainee left after three years. So imagine being away from home 4 to 6 years to participate in training camp or spring training at the age of 13-17 with no certainty you’ll make the team. Rules are strict and demands are high. Doesn’t sound like plant artists.

In South Korean's music industry, you have to go under a training program (learn to sing, rap, dance, even foreign languanges) without any guarantee when you can debut. There are hundreds of trainees, but only few will be picked to debut. As Jennie said in an interview, every month they (YG trainees) had an evaluation, they had to perform a solo song, a group song, a dance routine. Company executives, producers, and some YG artists would judge them. Some people left after 3 days, some people left after 3 months. The training was that hard. For BLACKPINK, it happened for years (Jennie 6 years, Jisoo and Lisa 5 years, Rosé 4 years) before their debut in 2016. They had it rough though they never talk about it bluntly. every single Kpop group is formed by the company they are signed to. next to no group personally formed their own group like in the west. when you're a trainee under a company in Korea, the company narrows down choices of trainees and picks and chooses trainees to form a group they think fits the image they want. its kind of like a survival competition for the trainees to debut in a group.

YG have a contest for trainee. Lisa got select out of 4,000 peoples from Thailand, Rose got selected in Australia, and I believe both Jennie and Jisoo in Korea. The girls work really hard before they debut.
The reason why Lisa now has bigger fandom, is that Lisa is not the typical kpop idol and attracts international fans with her kinda western vibe/swag that mostly kpop idol don't have. And it's okay to love her, to have bias on her but please don't spread hate to her or to other members or idols. She is my bias, not bc of her being swag and talented, but because of her huge and genuine heart. Through her duality from being on stage and off stage is unbelievable that you would love to get to know her more. Don't get me more for saying this, I just wan't you to know how big her heart was and keep in mind that I love love love all the members and will support them all the way. Lisa came from wealthy family and an only child. Her mom came from a wealthy family too eventho' her dad is a famous renowed chef in Switzerland and Thailand, Lisa and her family remain humble and being polite to the people around them.
When youtube reactors reacts to "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR BAND MATES?" and a question asked "WHO SPEND MOST ON SHOPPING SPREE?" was asked, youtube reactors always says that it is jennie but the members itselfs chooses lisa. And the reason why the reactors chose jennie because jennie usually looks very rich in every picture she posted on instagram, like rosé and jisoo, and lisa is very lowkey type of person like normal person.
And this is why a lot of people are loving Lisa more and more. Her professionalism-- she went to Milan for Prada's fashion show. Took a 12 hour flight back to SK, and from SK, took another 4 hour flight to Japan for their last Japan Dome concert that started just a few hours after she landed. The first thing she post on her IG after attending fashion show is guess what? Her cats. It's her birthday, and what did she post on her IG story? Her cats. At the Elle mag interview, she said she feels happy rather than realizing popularity. She's grateful and appreciative--if you didn't know, Lisa has the richest fans. Like really really rich. One fan spent hundred thousand of dollars for a birthday led ad on 9 Buildings in 9 cities in 9 days. She would get the most expensive things during a fanmeet. But you know what, regardless of the price, Lisa would still jump for joy getting gifts from fans. There's no gift too grand or too simple for her. Her reaction would still be the same regardless. She donated 200,000 baht to the victims of flood in Thailand she donated it quitely and genuinely but her cousin can't stop herself and being a proud cousin she posted how good lisa was. She was scammed by her manager for about 1 billion won or (842,123.10) United States Dollar but she didnt want anyone to know, to not worry and that time they're going to have their comeback so she keep it and settle it privately. She created a UA-cam channel as a way to give back to her fans and pay the filming, clothes, materials and choreographer with her own money. When some people say “don’t compare” it’s because this fandom has CRAZY toxic “fans” that are called “Blonks” instead of Blinks. Blonks can’t stand to see their bias not be the fav of someone else. That might upset some others, but it’s 100% true. When we say “love all equally” we know everyone is going to have a Bias (most favourited) but in reality we mean, please praise all even though you might have a fav. Those crazy fans will go off if you don’t say anything about their bias. Some reaction channels feed into it to and start saying bullshit like “I think this member isn’t as good as the others” or “this is the best one out of all of them” blah blah blah. So you’ll get a lot of people saying shit because of this constant problem in this fandom. It’s mostly between Jennie and Lisa though. They try to put them against each other and it’s just giving what the Blonks want. Which is to have people say that their bias is superior to the other. Personally Jennie is my fav. The first BP mv I watched was Whistle and Jennie stood out. She has a very smooth charm when she raps and it’s definitely my type of style. Now aside from all that, Lisa is highly liked bc she does have this certain tone when she raps, swag like. It’s very likeable and so, people tend to like her more as a rapper. Which I 100% get. It’s all about preferences tbh. Jennie just can’t do anything wrong in my eyes and is VERY versatile. When given the chance, she’ll kill ANY rap and put it to rest. yes pls do a reaction to 2ne1, i'm pretty sure you've heard some of their songs cause they are really popular back in the day along with bigbang i mean bigbang is still very popular if u know or heard of Gdragon he is the leader of Bigbang same label with blackpink and 2ne1 but a little info for 2ne1, 2ne1 debuted 2009 and they disbanded 2016, many koreans don't like 2ne1 bcs of their looks and everything but i promise u it's not just about the looks they are really talented and have great voice and skills as an artist and thats why they became popular just like bigbang, bigbang have been critized for being a group of not good looking people but man if you look where they are now they are really high up they are considered as the 'Kings Of KPOP' and 'Idols of Idols' Bigbang sets the standard and Gdragon became the fashion icon of korea and around the world despite of all the criticism and hate they are receiving, they debuted 2006 yes and they previously have 5 members but just last 2018-2019 one member had been caught in a very illegal business and issues that's why he leave the group and the company as well but the other four members are still bigbang and still active and they will perform in this years coachella in october,, i suggest you react to both of these groups they are really amazing, they have a lot of good quality songs and thir personality as well.

Lisa used to be my bias but when I got to know more about jennie and the hell she went through being hated for being loved basically... she’s been my bias bc shes a fighter, she’s just this beautiful elegant classy girl who can flip into this sexy confident strong person on stage. Honestly they all do and every other member wrecks my bias depending on the performance and a lot of people have a bias but they really love the other 3 depending on the performance ... it’s a testament to how good they are!!! So even if we are in the minority ms jennie Kim is my bias... she’s just the complete package.. she’s a little more mature than the other girls, but she’s very shy too so sometimes it comes off more mature but it’s just bc she will be shy and quiet lol Lisa is definitely spicy but she’s also the goofy one who always lightens up any place she is!! She’s known to always make people smile and she’s SO sweet and considerate... she’s the baby of the group. Jisoo is like the mom of the group and she takes care of all the other girls.. it’s super cute to see... and honestly jisoo is underrated bc she doesn’t speak English as much as the others... she understands but not comfortable speaking it but if you watch any interview or any bp content with her and read the captions... she’s hilarious and always cracking jokes, being silly and she’s super confident and flirty... it was very unexpected!!! Then sweet loving Angel rose.... she’s just the most kind hearted person!!! She is very sweet and lovey and hilarious ... I think she’s the one who guys are gonna have to work the hardest to get her to look their way... she’s definitely not impressed easily but in like a cute way... not mean at all.... that’s the whole reason they are called blackpink... they all have the duality of being pretty but savage! It’s perfect for them... and you guys should check out their new album!!!! I’m surprised you guys haven’t done too many!!! Quarantine problems? You’re not going to understand blackpink if you don’t understand the kpop industry. The kpop industry is brutal especially for women. And even tho they grew up in other countries... three of them are Korean lol only Lisa is Thai but it doesn’t matter ya know. There’s a Netflix documentary called “light up the sky” that is a great look at their story and who they are as people. Kpop low key is fucked up and in the last had heavy links with prostitution at bars/clubs for the rich and powerful . It’s supposed to be cleaning up the industry but kpop is nothing similar to western industries.
They audition to become trainees under ygs label... but they train with just groups of girls and it’s like a school for them but focused on being able to debut at some point... it’s not the same as in the US. It’s like a label school and they teach them to sing/dance and learn to speak other languages so they can market them to wider varieties. It’s not like they just auditioned to be in blackpink .... they train together and live together in dorms so it’s like boarding school kinda and I think they sign kids even like age 10. So the training s THIRTEEN HOURS a day for THIRTEEN DAYS... then they get one day off and back to train. Your company does not choose for you to debut when you sign... there’s no guarantee that you’ll debut and the rigorous training process causes most trainees to quit before they debut. Jennie was the first one at yg I believe she was 16... so she trained for 6 YEARS before she debuted , Lisa trained for 4-5, jisoo same and rose was last training 4 years before debut. The first member to be announced for a group yg was trying to make... was jennie but the group was being formed before the other three even got there to train... it was supposed to be 9 members in the group... but girls kept going home and this special group of extremely hard working , talented young women became the group and they clicked from the first day they met and had a strong bond . They said it’s hard with how they train bc its so competitive and the trainees have these performances they have to give for the people who decide if they’re going to debut or not... and they would just keep trying different combinations of girls until they found what they thought worked. But for these like monthly performances the girls would have to choose a cover song to do with whoever they were grouped with, they would have to choreograph it themselves, figure out how to split the song up and who would do what parts, they had to pick their own outfits and everything... I think they had to write their own songs to perform sometimes as well... but they would want different dances to perform too... like krumping for instance ... and this is a lot of work for such young people... which is why most end up going home... it’s hard and very harsh and they don’t care if they hurt your feelings... it’s a brutal environment. These girls worked so well bc they all specialize in different things and there was no arguing about who got to sing what parts and who choreographed and who did outfits and just everything and they just clicked and worked together seamlessly!! Also something different is the money they make... even a group like blackpink can be shocking to hear how money works there... an ex kpop idol said that typical would be the label gets 80%-90% of the money... and the group get that 10-20 percent.... and that’s the whole group... not individually... which means the groups are splitting the 10-20 percent.... even after debut these idols are extremely overworked and unlike becoming big in the US.. they have very little control over their own careers.. they’re overbooked and overworked to the point where there are like hour long compilations of kpop idols passing out on stage for each year... there is also way too many of these idols committing suicide bc of the way they’re living and treated. I mean blackpink are not allowed to date which is common in Kpop, they can’t go to bars or clubs, get a drivers license , get tattoos or plastic surgery. It’s bad for both men and women but they’re is a different way of living in their culture which is very male dominated... so it’s just so much different than here. Even being huge like blackpink and bts .... it’s really sad knowing what they go threw and it’s considered normal... these idols eat sleep breathe working ... they have all of these shows that the idols will be put on and it’s them doing crazy tasks and interviews where the point is almost to embarrass them or make them uncomfortable ... there’s just a lot of shit and every idol works harder than they should have to but see way too little reward for that. These girls are not plants... they’ve been training together for like 8 years ... they are all each other knows and they don’t get breaks, and don’t see their families... eyes are on them 24/7. I mean jennie sprained her ankle at least 9 times in like 1-2 years... but she never took time off they never cancelled any shows or performances... so she’s out there in heels dancing and performing on a sprained ankle sometimes... the other girls probably have had similar situations that were hidden better. In the US anybody who is as big as blackpink is has control of everything... and that’s just not remotely the case for kpop idols. There were rumors that yg gambled blackpinks money away... which we don’t know if that’s true but we do know that it’s why blackpink wasn’t able to release more music... they have no control over it... even like releasing anything they do on their own is not a thing. They literally are always writing and recording demos.... and nothing comes from it bc of ygs money trouble. The girls are dying to release so much more but that’s not how it works. When blackpink did Coachella... they were coming off a tour, but bc of their success there.. . They did a North American tour.... these girls were on tour for NINE months out of the year... they’re all incredible and unfortunately their journey is not unique... this is common and it’s sad to see. Blackpink seems the happiest when they’re doing their own concert for blinks... and they’re all super sweet, compassionate humble and loving people.

Blackpink had to train for 5 years and damn it was really hard. They had monthly evaluations where they had to sing, dance, write a song etc and ot just one song. They also had weekly evaluations. Had to pick out their own outfits, choreograph and style themselves and all that. Weekly and monthly. Jennie said that it was a really cold hearted world back then because she witnessed a lot of her fellow trainees leaving because it was too hard for them or YG straight out kicked them out of the trainer system because they weren't good enough. In that sense the American way (scouting an artist etc) is more luck and the korean way has definitely a lot more to do with talent and skills.
And they knew themselves for 4 - 6 years before debuting. It definitely seems weird but that's the way it works in Korea

YG training is brutal, it is very hard to debut from them than from other companies. Blackpink are supposed to be a nine or more member groups like Girl’s Generation or the current Twice and their debut keep pushing back a few years until they were whittled down to four. Jennie has been always been a sure thing and she was the first trainee to be acknowledged. Before debut Lisa and Jisoo has been speculated by the fans as well as some other girls. We now know when Rosé arrived for training (she was last chosen as part of the prospects I think) she was soon considered as a secret weapon and kept under wrapped. Its true they have a bigger chance for success by being part of YG but they have to work hard to grab their chances to debut and they still have to fight to get a chance for a comeback.

blackpink members went through the yg grinder. if yall didnt know yet, kpop trainees live in a constant competitive environment just to get the chance. literally hundreds even thousands of competitors at one time fight for a spot.
