  • Group singing provided solace for Freedom Riders facing the constant threat of violence. It was also an effective political tool. "Without singing, we would have lost our sense of solidarity," John Lewis says. Watch the broadcast premiere of FREEDOM RIDERS on Monday, May 16th, 2011 at 9/8c (check your local PBS listings).

EVERYONE MUST watch this program. It focuses on on of the most important eras in American history. These Freedom Riders are the real kind of heroes. Imagine the guts it took to get on those buses at that time in the South and remain calm and non-violent in the face of extreme danger and racial bigotry. THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank God for whites and blacks who fought for my freedom and equality. Real heroes don't wear capes, they get spit on and punched and pick themselves up and keep moving. I can never repay you for all you done.

I was just five years old when these heroes did this and today I feel so very proud of them. The Freedom Riders are among our nation's greatest heroes. Thank you so much.

I've visited the International Civil Rights Museum in Greensboro, NC, and I really appreciate all the brave men & women, Black & White, that non-violently fought segregation. The museum is built in the old Woolworths store where the first sit-in occured at its lunch counter.

Inspiration for unrelated struggles sometimes comes from unexpected places, including unrelated events in history.
For those who have not seen this film, it is as edge-of-your-seat gripping as any fictional drama that draws high dollar box-office patronage. Disturbing, offensive, and uncomfortable to watch at times, it is anything but boring in the way many documentaries are.
Special thanks to PBS and affiliates, WBGH Boston, American Experience, Raymond Arsenault, Stanley Nelson, John Lewis, Jim Peck, Jim Zwerg, Diane Nash, John Siegenthaler, JFK, RFK, MLK, the reporters of the time, and especially the Freedom Riders who did not back down in the face of incredible danger and cultural pressure.
It is probably safe to observe these Freedom Riders were far, far more brave than many, or perhaps most of us could ever hope to be.

Years later and some things have changed, but there are still people out there who are prejudice!
If these people call themselves Christians who are prejudice they are wrong in the sight of God! As we are all God's people no matter what our skin color is! God doesn't teach prejudice that is Satan's teaching and you can only pick one family to be in God's Family or Satan's Family. We all have a choice and prejudice and discrimination is Not of God!
I have been personally discriminated against my gender, my skin color, against my looks. People have discriminated against me for a nationality I am Not, assuming I was of a different person than who I actually am! Prejudice and discrimination needs to stop! Only fools discriminate and are prejudice!
    ❤Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
    ❤ 1 Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
    ❤ Matthew 7:1
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
    ❤ James 2:1-26❤
My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? ..
    ❤ Acts 10:34-35❤
So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
    ❤ Acts 17:26
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,
    ❤ 1 John 4:20
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
    God Bless You!
