As a primarily Xbox user, it hurts that that the JRPG genre often skips this console. But over the years, Xbox has been doing so much better in having RPGs to play. I'm personally most excited about Expedition 33.
I'm also a primarily Xbox player, but I understand not bringing every JRPG to Xbox when there's only about 10 of us buying them. @TheGamingShelf That doesn't make any sense. South Park Stick of Truth, Ruined King, Undertale and a few others were also inspired by the genre also. They don't go around calling themselves JRPGs lmao Whatever you say.
Final Fantasy IX was made in Hawaii with a lot of American staff. Is that now not a JRPG either? Also FWIW, they call it a JRPG on their website: kepler-interactive.com/games/clair-obscur-expedition-33
@@TheGamingShelf OK, describe the style you're calling JRPG then. Aside from the turn-based combat (which is not exclusive to JRPGs), I struggle to see any other characteristics that would suggest this. Maybe I’m just a hater but of the known JRPGs for this year, I’m not really excited for many at all. And it’s almost a relief after having so many must play titles the last two years.
I hope Suikoden 3 remaster comes soon cause it's the best Suikoden and I hope they finally fix the silly issues and qol issues. E.g. the rune distribution was bs, some runes can be equipped to only specific rune slots between head and left / right hand or runes could be usable by only specific characters and there was a bunch of mismatch among major characters you used a lot like only 4-5 characters n the game being able to use a rune but 2 of them not having the head slot available the rune requires, so still not able to use it. Or some melee character having a rare head rune slot but not being able to equip runes useful for melee characters in it. Likewise, the game constantly broke up your party without warning so characters would take some of your best gear and runes with them for 1-2 hours when you really needed them cause the game instead forced new characters half your lvl into the party using crap as gear. Lvling was also iffy since new characters always joined at way too low lvls and lvling them was tedious because youi were forced to use at least one major story character you were lvling from very early on and that meant characters 10-20 lvls lower than the enemies got the same greatly reduced amount of exp as the forced party member that was 10-20lvls higher than the enemies and while there was rubberbanding, it was super slow and did not affect party members so you constantly had some low lvl characters in the party that lacked the lvls and the gear to be useful. The game was not hard but rpgs are about making your party stronger, not seeing your party stay weak because of bs and not being able to use your best gear and arbitrary bs limitations. The army battles also applied fixed stats for all characters so it only mattered if you recruited them but not if you lvled them up, which is really boring and means that having 108 characters in the game is utterly meaningless and only inconvenient at every turn and corner.
Man i was so excited for Anantas and Neverness to Everness until I learned they were free to play online games, why can't they make a huge cool jrpg in that style for single player 😭
