Star MAY be able to destroy a universe. She has instructions but no proof that she has or could,or would pull it off. At least Steven's was built on feats he mirrored or surpassed. Can someone explain why they think thats a good match? A being who can casually destroy universes at will vs someone who is NOWHERE near that level. God vs an Ant, who will win in the next DEATH BATTLE!.
@@TheLastSane1 Dunno where they get their matchups from, but I think the problem is, that the "ant" is actually the "god-ant" from the "ant-universe". @@allzonedestroyer6944 in fact, I think that star has more knowledge and experience in combat than steven, lets remember that star was raised by the castle guards that .... lets be honest, they were not the best influence, they taught her to fight and handle weapons at a very early age and it is known that she has done many things in her youth that led her to have many risky situations and adapt to the circumstances, besides she never hesitates to hit someone. Steven on the other hand, was not trained until he was about 14 years old or more, he was very good for a post apocalyptic world in which the crystal gems lived and did not have real experience until very late. as far as im concerned, star has more combat experience than steven (that doesnt mean shes stronger or faster, because pink steven has already been shown to be so fast that everything seems super slow).
If this was the young Steven, that would have went SO much better Edit: To clarify, I’m not saying young Steven would have a better chance in the fight. I’m saying young optimistic Steven, would handle Star’s magic less negatively.
That's exactly what the gems did with Steven when he was younger, too. Anytime he was in a fight they thought he wasn't ready for, they'd literally just pick him up and toss him aside. He's learned well!
I like how on the surface they portray similar personality traits, but upon further analysis are actually quite different to each other, like how Steven is a pacifist and Star has no problem destroying everything in sight.

Other than the Magical High Commssion were there any species that really needed magic to survive? Like Ponyhead is still just a floating head, the only difference for her was that she didn’t leave a trail of sparkles wherever she went. If anything she just separated a lot of friends and family who might’ve been from different dimensions.
Not saying that Star Butterfly isn't ridiculously powerful, but "she can destroy a universe because she has an ancestor (who wasn't really her ancestor) who said she lost her temper and destroyed a dimension one time, so Star must be able to as well" is extremely shaky logic.
The fact that in this exists in the book as a *warning* to other users of the wand means that this isn’t something that is only possible through Skywne (and the factor of her losing her temper doesn’t matter). Which is consistent with her mother directly stating that the wand can destroy the Universe. Aside from that tho, Baby (Magic evaluator for the queens for generations) directly noted that Star’s magic prowess exceeds that of her mother and is reaching Eclipsa’s, the latter of which is also noted to exceed that of previous queens (including Skywne). They also directly noted in the top right tab of 19:22 that this was well corroborated by other stuff in the series. Such as the aforementioned statement of the wand being capable of destroying the Universes (to which Star had since surpassed the wand’s power once she dipped down). Her magic being used to one-shot Omnipraxus, a literal living Universe and the embodiment of space-time. Star restoring the realm of Magic, an entire Universe plagued with Toffee’s corruption. Mewni and Earth’s dimension merging by the end of the series. The Total Annihilation Spell being stated to be able to “consume every dimension”. And so on.
Well thing is SHE DOESNT NEED TO USE THAT SPELL. As you can see at the end, Star used a spell that can literally split planets in half. Star had plenty of not MORE power in her arsenal than Steven. Hell they even need the cluster just to destroy the planet and even that is a very slow and tedious process meanwhile can instantly do it with an ease as well so there is no way Steven gonna win this one. Before you say Steven can blitz Star, I have to remind you Star can stop time itself, watch the episode "Freeze day" where she literally freeze time itself so no even Stevens speed can't outmanauver star
Spyro: **Has a devastating laser that breaks through his enemy's super shield to obliterate that enemy anyway.** Star: Oh, hey! I can do that, too! 17:35
They actually left out some of Star's top spells specifically. Like her time powers, a spell that kills anything it touches, and a spell specifically made to stop immortals from healing and kill them. Just for comparison, Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet can only destroy the universe he's in. We don't see such limits with Star.
I mean what did you expect? Most of Steven's powers and abilities are defensive since most of his fights he would use the passive way. Mean while most of Star's magic spells are destructive from planet-dimentional. it's also the fact that Star mastered her butterfly form while Steven has troubles controlling his pink form
Mainly because I don't even think that Pink Diamond knew how to control it herself- just suppress it. It'd probably be better if both were at their full potential

I have to admit, Steven's power in pink state still scares me a bit from when he had his mental breakdown. But the fact that Star was able to overpower even that scares me even more.
Yeah, that's the main difference; Steven's Pink state gives him power, but it does jack-all to his mindset and leaves him as a mindless berserker (just look at how he literally murdered Jasper like a maniac). Star, however, retains good control over her raw magic power. Even if she's goofy and energetic, she still has a way better handle on her mental game in her Butterfly form than Steven in Pink state. Proof that a monstrous mental break (Steven) is nothing against controlled destruction (Star).

And Star just not caring and is just escalating the situation without actually meaning to. I was hoping Steven would take the win but I do understand that Star was just too much for good old Steven to handle.
Pretty much; even their fighting styles shows it. Steven, true to his calm and de-escalating nature, has mostly defensive moves, but Star's hyper levels of energy and aggressive personality ties into her _huge_ arsenal of different spells that Steven just can't properly counter.

Steven trying to convince Star to give up her wand because it was too dangerous for her to have would be an in character way to justify this fight for both characters. Steven knows how dangerous gem tech can be in the wrong hands and Star is used to villains trying to take her wand by force.

I call BS on that. When the Butterfly Wand killed Omitravix Prime the sentient universe, all it did was suck out his soul, leaving his remains behind. Since Steven has control over his soul via astral projection than he should have a counter it.
Problem is she didn't learn that spell, she actually barely learned any spell in that book because she hated studying and reading it. I think we only get to see her actually cast 3-4 spells that was actually from the book as a whole.
I get an "Unstoppable Force vs. Immovable Object" dynamic from these two. Star's magic is predominantly based on debuffs and attacks, while Steven's powers draw emphasis on defense, healing and evasion. This even reflects their weapons; Star tends to magically throw stuff at people, while Steven uses a shield. Though while Star's spells are varied and look impressive, Steven has a much more practical power-set with a lifetime's worth of experience in using them.
yeah honestly thats why i see this more as a draw since both of these characters have huge no limits situations going on when it comes to those factors and it just became if they decided stevens shield is tougher or stars full power ray is
Indeed. Unfortunately for Steven, though, Star's more hostile and hyper-energy spells were much too powerful and aggressive even for Steven's healing and defense. Despite Steven having much more actual combat training, higher speed, and his attacks are generally more practical, Star doesn't exactly need practicality or discipline when her stronger magic blasts are nonetheless more than capable of blasting straight through his defenses and with an AoE large enough to strike down on an area far too big for Steven's superior speed to allow him to move out of the way of. Ironically, it's also this dynamic that would allow Star and Steven to be an absolutely devastating team if they ever met on, y'know, _not_ death-match-causing circumstances. Steven's more level-headed attitude and sturdy defenses would certainly help to reign in Star's hyper energy and utter lack of discipline, as well as protect himself and others in their vicinity if and when her good-intended but destructive spells inevitably fly out of control. On the other side, Star's surprising empathy and bull-headedness could help Steven with his internal stress and angst, and her aggressive fighting style and higher-powered attacks would be an excellent backup and compliment to Steven's defense-based stance, and both of them possessing absolute loyalty to established allies meant that it'd be near-impossible for potential enemies to drive any wedges between them.
@@mrreyes5004 I have to agree with that. the thing about Steven is that he really doesn't defeat his opponents with his fist but with words and emotions. (except jasper lol) however, I don't think it was one-sided whatsoever. ad I love what Aza Smith is talking as it really is a clash of ideals

@@TheAverageGuyTAG The third movie kinda fucked up "Skadoosh" being Po's finisher.
Star MAY be able to destroy a universe. She has instructions but no proof that she has or could,or would pull it off. At least Steven's was built on feats he mirrored or surpassed. Btw I like Star more than Steven, but I think they are really are dropping the ball on their research. With this channel,at least in the beginning (I.E. Superman V.S. Goku) I have been fine if either won. They went on stats that both characters have matched or exceeded in their prime, and didn't go off of the assumption that because another character did it in universe it counts. It was always personal feats. Now Death Battle is kinda dropping the ball....I feel like they are leaning into popular opinion rather than facts like every other vs channel. Man Steven has some useless wacky powers, no way he can win...
Powerful within their fictional world, but just magnitudes weaker compared to another universe.
So the matches technically are not meant to be fair, but to just be for the memes and fun ;)
Can be frustrating to watch sometimes. But characters are "balanced" within their story, so mixing stories will most likely result in an unfair matchup.
@@Shuizid But thats still the point. They claim they go through and try to find somewhat balanced matches.
@@TheLastSane1 Well then they are wrong. Most matches I recall are severly unbalanced and clearly show characters put against one-another for sharing certain themes.

Toph as an old lady is still having to do Earthbender moves to bend, and she can see through the ground and vibrations. They turn her into a generic Geokinetic and claim she can sense all earth everywhere.

That's really good idea, you got made writting ability impressed, you are very right but I do like the lighthearted behavior I can see your idea working and still be light hearted
True this makes sense but the way they set up this battle was pretty good I thought
Yes
So, and sorry for bringing it up if it's a touchy subject for you, like Ben 10 VS Green Lantern?
@@MasuxAnderson maybe that’s why they gone with this
For Steven, it was the fight of his life.
For Star, it was Tuesday.
Actually, considering Steven's everyday life... it was Tuesday for him too.
Rip Steven Universe let's go Star 🌟 🤩
I watched both shows and I gotta say you are wrong, I even watched the Future episodes and the movie. The story in STFE is Captivating and creative, while SU deals with emotional topics that we relate to.
@Jermaine Samuda Forgot to @ you my bad
true
Ok but why do I love how star, being surrounded by flames and death, just childishly says “I won!”
Fr
It's because star butterfly thinks that she had already won the sandcastle contest with the 1st place ribbon automatically falling on star's head have make her think she won even though some of the judges are already dead/disappeared without a trace eh.
She's no stranger to mass murder
@@DarkPsychoMessiah
Yeah, and she’s from Disney. A company that has the worst executives and CEOs, destroyed Star Wars, and made the MCU better than the stupid and inferior DCEU.
@@multiverse_media2023 The MCU was better from the start, the DCEU was kinda dead from the start
Mario and sonic:

Steven and star:
Fights over a Sandcastle
What’s next? 😅
Steven: *placed at star level*
Star: *placed at universe level*
Ohhhhhhhhh the irony
Ow
Oh wow. You're totally right.
Oof. Poetic, right there.
Not gonna lie, that's poetic as F
Damn boiiiiii that’s pretty spot on
Fun fact, we do talk about that, a lot, fans of the show never stopped talking about Star's genocide finale.
I never even saw it. . . Crazy
No one is living it down
Guess it's a good thing the whole 'destroy all the magic thing' didn't stick, huh? It's just more evenly distributed now. I think.
Ya i never going to stop talking about how star murdered millions of people
The monsters would have been genocide by mina and the warriors
good video man really good stuff
Steven: *is innocently building a sand castle*
star: THIS IS WHAT DYING FEELS LIKE

Idk guys steven sounds kinda op. Does star even stand a cha-
"Her mother even said her wand can blow up the universe"
Alright star is gonna win
Yeah I was originally voting for Steven but then I knew it wouldn’t go that way once I heard that
LOL. i was thinking the same
@gaelan white ben probably has magic alien reality etc it be cool if ben 10 series where or alternate ben chose to have predatorix
Yup good i went with star for the start since of the universal scaling
@gaelan white i think alien x is too strong for star to contend with
I like how Star is accurately portrayed as a psychopath here.
Star Butterfly just reminds me of Mabel from Gravity Falls.
More like a sociopath
Either wise, she's not stable at all. When a man suffering PTSD is the more stable one you know that girl's got problems
@@shadowednight1600 yep
I wouldn't say psychopath, she just has a habit of getting out of control.
I didn’t think this even had to be a question 😭 she absolutely destroys him no questions asked
REAL
Princess Looma VS She-Hulk (Ben 10 VS Marvel)
Alternate Ending
*Stars sand castle falls on Steven*
Star: “Oh my god I’m so sorry!”
Steven: “It’s okay it was an accident, I’m Steven”
Star: “I’m Star! Wanna be friends?”
Steven: “Sure”
*wanna be friends
Booooo
God half of the death battles wouldn't even happen if the combatants just slowed down and USED THEIR WORDS!
They would be friends... but this is a battle to the death channel so kill or be killed!
yes thank you.
The moment I realized that she can learn to destroy an entire universe is the moment I learned that this was one sided
But when u realize that steven is can go so fast that he can slow down time really isn’t one sided
I call BS on that. When the Butterfly Wand killed Omitravix Prime the sentient universe, all it did was suck out his soul, leaving his remains behind. Since Steven has control over his soul via astral projection than he should have a counter it.
In what episode was that power established? Because I don’t remember them using it
Wouldn't say that made this one sided, more like it made it clear who was gonna win in the end
I really feel like Steven should have won this. Rose / Pink Diamond blocked the gem shattering / corrupting blast with the BASE shield, not the Hex formed one.
@@mrreyes5004
So what you're saying is, if Star and Steven ever teamed up, God help us all.
I wanted Steven to win so bad and he definitely should've but if he did win, I dont think I would be satisfied because of me seeing his reaction to killing a person, he would be so mortified
Steven wakes up every day and chooses non-violence.
Star Butterfly made the choice *once* to use violence and never changed her mind.
bruh 😆
To her violence is not the answer, it's the question, and the answer is yes.
I never finished both series
