I’m not a hiker, I’m just going camping next week and will have to set up my gigantic tent in the rain and thought I would look on here for some tips. I found your video and got sucked in. That was so impressive! Next week when It’s pouring on me, I will try not to complain!
As annoying as the wet weather may be, the fragrances from nature are definitely much more intense and wonderful in the wet weather. Happy New Year, Mat!
I have the Dirigo 2 as well...love my tent. I was in my first thunderstorm a couple weeks ago and it held up remarkably well. I'm finding it a lot easier to get that perfect pitch now too. I got my tent in January, so HMG must have decided those hooks inside were not getting used, because I don't have them in mine. Kinda bummed about that, but oh well. I also use a small piece of Tyvek in the vestibule area, and the pole sits on top of it and holds it down. Works really well to put wet stuff in the vestibule without getting dirty. Very thorough video - loved it!
Happy to hear you've been enjoying your tent too Maryann! The perfect pitch will come with more use. I was not aware of that with the hooks. It was a good concept but I personally haven't really used them. Thanks for watching!

My least favorite is getting out of a tent and taking it DOWN in the rain.
