Three lessons learned are that 1. I need to be super good at setting goals 2. visualize how I can reach the goal 3. put into practice to meet the daily goals

1:36 And a good thing, too. 6 weeks later his goggles filled with water during his 200 fly and he swam it blind. Still won gold and broke the world record.

his last 200m signature fly and lost to Chad le clos was very upsetting for me because he was leading and very ahead than le clos! the only thing that matters that time was the touching of the wall!!! he GLIDED instead to making a little stroke! its wrong timing, i'm so upset honestly that he miscalculated that finish part but he gained 4 GOLD after that event and i'm so happy for him!!! the most decorated Olympians ever!

yeah i watched it and i hold my breath because he was totally ahead to Chad le clos!!! he just made a mistake of gliding instead of stroking!!! he was totally ahead of chad but he miscalculated the finish part, the touching the wall! he was not behind he was ahead but the touching of the wall was complicated part to him on that particular race.. i was so shocked and devastated for the bad timing and gliding thing!

if you watched the race you would have seen that the reason he lost was his finish
he glided into his finish, after 16 years of practicing finishes to the point where he was probably the best finisher in the world
he blew the finish because he was afraid that he was dying in the race and could lose and that pressure psyched him out and he glided the finish
    thats called choking

  • @Craigipedia

Phelps is still winning golds in the 4x100 medley, and in the 100m and 200m fly. he will also probably take home gold in the 4x200 free relay. So i think Phelps will be just fine

  • @codeblider

O.k., all of you ladies and gentlemen supporting Michael Phelps by saying that he was under trained are acting immature. Of course it was his fault that he lost, he was not training for months and dedicating himself as much as other Olympic swimmers did, not just swimmers but other events as well. Anyone who has ever competed in any sport should know that not being disciplined and lacking training will cause you to falter. That is what we saw in Phelps. At least he can redeem himself.

If Phelps wins the 400 IM on Sunday, watch out he'll be on a roll. I have Lochte winning the 400 IM, 200 back and being on the 800 free relay. Phelps will win the 100 and 200 flys, 200 IM, 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay - five golds, silver in 400 IM and 400 free relay. That would be a great way to go out in a sport that he's dominated for over a decade. Phelps scratched the 200 free so he's only eligible to win seven medals. He and Lochte may not be in the 400 free relay.

no question a massive talent and accomplishment, however I wonder about the athleticism of the water , where humans are not native, to thye athleticism of land events, where humans are native. In other words, in my opinion, Phelps does not come close to athleticism of a Usain Bolt or the decathalon champion Ashton Eaton.
