I'm a diehard fan and i loved the animation, art style, designs and almost everything about it. Though Hemsworth's voice and Brian's voice is definitely going to be hard to get used to.

I think an Optimus and Megatron origin story depicting them when they were friends is a great idea, and this trailer was quite funny. However, I think having Bumblebee be a part of it was a bad idea.
Only because it’s almost always been that Optimus is part of the wiser generation and Bee as the younger. Maybe they could’ve had someone like Ratchet to fill in that supporting role instead.

Well because in Transformers Prime, Peter Cullen literally voiced Orion Pax (When Optimus Prime sacrificed the matrix of leadership to defeat unicorn, the power of the matrix was all drained because of that and he returned back to Orion Pax and they are still using Peter Cullen to voice act Orion, making people think that Peter Cullen will gonna voice act Orion for the next continuities).

If memory serves, the original Megatron voice was made with the idea of Megatron's voice being damaged and is painful to even speak. They're probably going for a shock effect with how different he was in the past from what he becomes.
People seem to forget leaders have to be built. This is Orion pax Optimus who is young, he has to learn way before his own world was destroyed

Have loved Transformers ever since 1984, ever since the orignal series, and I will never understand why "fans" of Franchises are always such snobs when it comes to anything new within a Franchise, instead of giving it a fair chance. Nothing can, or should, ever, stay the same because it's boring, and becomes repetitive to keep rehashing, and retelling, the same exact story, over and over again, and with the same people involved as well. Absolutely love the fact that they're going so far back into the lore/history of the Franchise, and telling a new, and original, story, instead of something that we've already seen before. As for the outrage over new voice actors, which is absurd, things change, and people get older, and people retire, too. No one will ever beat the originals, or rather, the original series that each Generation grew up with, because it's a personal preference, but I think people just need to be happy that a 40 year old Franchise is still around, kicking, and trying something new.
Fans can voice an opinion it's about being passionate and caring about what works and what doesn't. I like the new Optimus voice but I don't like the new one for megaton and not because it doesn't sound like the original but because i just don't think it fits for any version of the character but I guess im still a snob oh holy acient transformers fan

i don't think people who actually are fans would be complaining much about the light heartedness of orion since orion was always more light hearted and only became more serious when taking on the mantle of a prime, even peter cullen played orion the same way.
i think the actual issue (for me at least) is that this movie was pitched as a prequel to bumblebee, so im not extatic that it doesnt look the way the bumblebee movie opening did, to be honest they more resemble Transformers prime than anything (which is a great show but is NOT the same universe as bumblebee)
What? Didn't they say that this is a completely new movie and not a prequel to anything? There's a lot of misinformation here and people are saying different things, some that it's a prequel to "Bumblebee", some that it's a new thing, but I heard about the latter from more reliable sources, so I think it's true. I mean, otherwise the movie would have been in the style of "Bumblebee" and "Rise of the Beasts", which is the its sequel.

@@jaycornu3351 Where? Perhaps I just didn’t see it, but as far as I know this is just a theory. I don't think this film is a prequel to "Bumblebee", not only for the reasons stated above, but also because the film is the first part of a planned trilogy (which hints at a new trilogy, not a conclusion to the "Bumblebee" trilogy). Although I could be completely wrong, we'll see how it goes.
Personally I didn't think Chris helmsworth's voice was the issue since he's playing orion pax not optimus prime.
My issue came from megatron's voice being so different, I know he's meant to be D-16 in this but from what I know about transformers lore is that his voice and manners don't change even after his ascension to warlord so this change had me doubting what I was seeing.
As well as bee being here as well, as it is stated quite consistently in transformers lore that bee wasn't created until after the war for cybertron started.
This is a new continuity that is neither "Aligned" nor "G1", but rather takes inspiration from these two to create something new, given that there are a lot of things that would contradict both of them, but the cool thing about Transformers is that there's no set single canon here, it varies from universe to universe, so think of this movie as an alternative "what if" universe.
Even in the original G1 cartoon episode "War Dawn", where Orion Pax was introduced as a young Optimus Prime, that incarnation was not voiced by Peter Cullen either, but someone that sounded younger.
Here's a thing that people should know: Optimus Prime wasn't always voiced by Peter Cullen. Garry Chalk did the voice for the Unicron Trilogy (Armada, Energon, Cybertron), and David Kaye took the role in Animated.
I like how they're getting someone else to do Orion Pax (young Optimus Prime) such as Chris Hemsworth to do the voice to then show us what Prime was doing before he became Optimus Prime and how Megatron and Prime got there rivalry, but all we have to do is wait until the film comes out to see how people react to the young Optimus Prime.
It's not Optimus it's Orion pax he's what's so hard about that 😅

True TF fans know what's going on. In the original G1 Cartoon, Orion Pax was voiced by someone else and not by Peter Cullen. So I don't have a problem with this. OMG, some ppl might be reading too much into a movie trailer. Movie trailers don't make/break a movie and only give some insight to what maybe you are looking into. I'm giving the movie a chance, as I want to see the full story out for this one. Quite frankly, TF One looks already better than the Bayverse TF's, as I never liked all the impossible mechanical moving parts to transform in Bayverse.

@@braddollahite Matrix didn't transform him into OP. The Matrix is basically a big ornament that grows in strength with Wisdom from one Autobot leader to next Autobot leader and so on. In the original, Alpha Trion saved Orion Pax life and he was reborn in far better designed TF as Optimus Prime. From this trailer, it appears Orion Pax discovers Alpha Trion who changes Orion Pax and his fellow Autobots into evolved robots that can transform into Cybertronic Vehicles.

I love it so far! He has the intonations just right, just a younger version. Our voices change as we get older. I welcome this and can't wait to see it!
I don’t understand why people are so upset. Optimus has been voiced by other actors before. For example Transformers: Animated, the Unicron trilogy, Beast Wars, and the Netflix’s War for Cybertron trilogy did not have Peter Cullen.
Each one has its uniqueness but the Netflix actor sounded horrible.
I think the movie is promoted as the G1 origin story but is not hence why people complain why not Peter Cullen? if a new continuity reboot ...people will not care at all.

Wrong. Majority of fans aren't complaining about Peter Cullen not voicing Prime (afterall, who expects an 82-year old man to keep voicing a character indefinitely?). What fans are complaining about is....EVERYTHING ELSE about this trailer.

@bpo1975 is correct. The change of voice actors isn't the major issue. I believe most fans were hoping for a continuation or prequel within the Bumblebee/Rise of the Beasts timeline. Transformers One seems to abandon a grounded and mature storyline/universe for what appears to be an unambiguous cashgrab.
While it is important to bring in younger and/or newer fans to the franchise, this doesn't give any impression other than a Hasbro toy parade. And, yes, that's what G1 was intended to be. However, some very talented writers, animators, and voice actors gave us something far beyond that. And what's being offered here doesn't come close.
Some of us are bummed out that Peter isn't voicing Prime in this movie...but for a younger Prime it makes sense for someone else...but idk how I feel about Hemsworth as Prime
@@CumberlandForge Each of the sequels started to ruin the continuity. Bumblebee could speak at the end of the 1st (unexplained somehow) yet never again in the following films?!? They started changing how Optimus looked in the 5th film and beyond that. The Bumblebee moving completely ruined the continuity of the franchise when it comes to the Optimus & the autobots coming to Earth.
Where did you gather the statistics that support this claim that the majority of fans aren’t complaining? Not saying you’re wrong I just wanna see the quantifiable numbers.
Even in the original series, when they did a flashback of when Prime met Megatron, Prime was still Orion Pax and had a different voice, When he became Prime is when he got his distinct voice that we all know and love. Maybe that is something they are going to do with Transformers One. Maybe towards the end of the movie, Peter will end up voicing him as Orion Pax truly becomes Optimus Prime.
Lest we not forget that Orion Pax had a very different voice from Optimus Prime in his first ever appearance: War Dawn, an episode from the original 80s cartoon. I don't know if this version is going down the same "had to be re-built by Alpha-Trion" route. Even Hot Rod's voice got deeper when he evolved into Rodimus Prime. So there could be any number of reasons why young Orion Pax would sound different from future Optimus Prime.

He’s younger. People who actually are fans of Transformers will understand this. His voice was even different when we saw Orion in G1. Some people need to get a grip. The new voice actually does sound like a young Peter Cullen Prime and it fits surprisingly well.
I have no problems with this movie. If Mario succeeded then this transformers movie has the potential.
People are not understanding that they are young and they still didnt unlock theyre full potential. Im glad optimus doesnt have the same voice, most of the times in movies they take kids version of the mc with the adult voice, like tf does that mean? As we can see whoever can transform has a different face, reflecting theyre personality and character, optimus, bee and the others will have the faces we see in the movies after thousand of years, we should think of them as kids that are growing and changing. Well personally I think it’s an intelligent move , as in the movie he’s gonna be approximately 4 million years old , as the present Optimus Prime is approximately 9 million years old. Thus making a younger voice.

I have to say, while watching it, I subconsciously kept thinking the voice was going to change to a deeper resonating sound. Didn't think about it until I was watching this.
For those "fans" of Transformers, you aren't really fans. If you were, and you were paying attention to the trailer, you would know that this movie is about Orion Pax, the precursor to Optimus Prime. Even in Gen 1, Orion had a different, younger voice; Orion Pax is going to sound different; mght as well use a different voice.

I like that they are going into the origin of Optimus prime, and Megatron, the voice is hard to adjust to but I think it’s going to be really good, the voice fits them though lol, in my opinion.

the character is pre-Prime, he’s Orion Pax. in the cartoon we learn that eons ago Orion was injured during the Decepticon uprising, Alpha Trion repaired him and upgraded him to Optimus Prime. if anyone is complaining about this character it’s really because they don’t know the full story.
No one's voice is the same from a child to an adult! So even our beloved Prime has to go through a change.

From what I have seen it’s mainly Bayverse fans that are saying this stuff as they can’t accept that Transformers is more than just violence. Also the voice makes sense, cause in G1 Orion Pax didn’t sound like Optimus Prime until he became Optimus Prime, Chris Hemsworth is doing a great job, also don’t forget he trained with Peter Cullen to get this voice, so it is in a way still Peter Cullen voice just done through Hemsworth as his kind of successor (not saying anyone would ever live up to Cullen but still). Also their more light hearted personalities makes sense as this is set before the war, everything we have seen of Transformers before has been set during the war, so of course they are going to have very different personalities.
My only problem is that Optimus Prime's and Megatron's origins were already shown in the original series, and it's nothing like what is being shown here.
He's not Optimus Prime yet. He's Orion Pax, before coming a Prime.
Think of it this way. Optimus Prime in the 80's cartoon was in his 40's, with his gravel deep in his chest. Orion Pax is 14, and his voice hasn't started to break yet.
First. "Hardcore" Transfomers fans forget that in G1 Orion Pax had different, more lighter voice provided by Laurie Faso.
Second. Peter Cullen won't be here forever. He is 82.
Third. Nobody created any fuss when Jake Foushee voiced Prime in War for Cybertron series. And he did a very good job.

Honestly I do like Chris's voice for Orion! it's obvious he tries his best to mimic the way Peter Cullen talks when voicing Optimus, and for a younger Optimus Prime, this doesn't feel bad, of course nothing will beat the participation of Peter Cullen as Optimus voice, but this one isn't bad

Why would Orion Pax sound as confident and experienced as the Optimus Prime who fought battles for eons? This is the perfect movie to change his voice.
Now that I think about it. Chris is perfect for the younger Prime. Our voice changes a lot over the years. I am 50 and I can tell my voice has matured from what I sounded like at age 20, 30 and 40.
I actually like the voice, Hemsworth is doing a great job. He sounds like a young Optimus and I could see his Optimus voice becoming Cullen's Optimus voice in-universe.
I would put it this way; They're robots, their voives wouldn't change as they get older. As long as he's Orion Pax he can have a younger voice and positive attitude that would stay true to Optimus's origins. Once he becomes Optimus Prime he should be voiced by Peter Cullen, that's when he changed both voice and deminer.
This is sort of a reality, when you have someone that is basically lived and performed a role for so long a sudden change and difference can be jarring for people. It usually isn’t their own fault, it is mostly because that people grow comfortable with how things are. Even if what comes next is an improvement there will be people that are hesitating to accept it because it isn’t what they are used to. Lots of people gave the Mario movie flack for the same reason, Mario was voiced by Chris Pratt and it caused a good deal of debate whether this is good or not.
Truth be told you see this in a lot of different stories and media. A voice change from someone very iconic can be hard to accept. I recall when the lead actor for Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) passed away from cancer and his replacement (Liam McIntyre) was cast. It was jarring to see a different actor but the performance was solid and he blended in with the character very well. But still it was a jarring thing. Any form of change like that will always have problems with it, some are irreversible. Such as when they recast the lead for Stargate SG-1 for Season 9 through 10
It really is up in the air on how well this can go, because it often comes down to how well it goes.
Peter Cullen's Optimus Prime's voice was inspired by his heroic brother, a real life soldier. His brother frowned upon the fake Hollywood hero. What made Peter's voice so iconic was how real it felt, and how it honored his brother
hes Orion Pax in this movie...literally says it in the trailer. Also we need to start getting sued to other voices, because if we become to reliant on Peter Cullen, we will be even more devsitated when he passes away. Which sadly due to his age is a major possibility.
I have been into Transformers since 1984. I have had no use for Beast Wars, LOVED the live action films, and I am currently watching War for Cybertron. And I have to say, I was hoping for a LOT more for an origin story. I'm going to pretend this doesn't exist.
It look fun something we need in theatres and Chris is at least putting in the effort to sound like Peter Cullen unlike other actors who didn't when they took a shot at a iconic role.

There have been many Jokers before and after Mark...the weird one was the CW younger Trickster, since Mark has played nearly every (perhaps even every last) version of him - except for that legacy villain learning at Mark-Trickster's feet.
The show could be set in Cybertrons golden age when prime was known as Orion pax a clerk in the iacon catacombs while Megatron known as megatronus named after the founding primes as a fighter "gladiator".
Or it's a whole new story and world....

It's not the voice that gets me as it's not actually optimus prime yet but it's entirely the vibe, the goofy feeling and the whole stupidity feeling of it. I get it's a target audience thing but this isn't transformers it's like a minions movie with go-bots. When will they get it right like machinima trilogy.... Never I guess. It's a new generation of transformers for the kids of 2024.

the way I see it is before he became a Prime where he sounds wise and such, his voice would be different due to being different time periods. I also kind of hope that at some point during the movie the original voice actor might make a scene or moment at some point cause most movie/series when Optimus voice is different, there was still at least a clip or so...anyway that's just my opinion/theory
He is Orion Pax, not yet Optimus Prime. Maybe at the very end of the movie we see him and D-16 split and stop being friends, with D-16 taking up the moniker of Megatron, and only then, once Orion Pax becomes Optimus Prime, does his voice change. Honestly I think we can still see him cameo at the very end. This seems to be a adaptation of the Transformers Prime Storylines Depiction of their Origins, showing how megatron despises the caste system of cybertronian society, and created the decepticons to basically rebel. Even the artstyle is kinda similar (arcie is closer to her OG self tho than the prime version)
This is the thing guys he's Orion Pax in this movie, he hasn't been changed into Optimus by the Alpha Trion yet. So it stands to reason he wouldn't sound like Optimus Prime. Looking forward to this movie should be a good watch.

It's consistent with the original cartoons. Orion Pax is transformed both mentally and physically by becoming Optimus Prime via the Autobot Matrix Of Leadership. You'd expect an origin version of Optimus to have shadows of the future Optimus but also different.
If it’s Orion Pax then I think it’s ok to have a different voice. In the animated series I believe the voice was different in the flashback episode and the personality definitely was.
It's definitely a Transformers movie for the Pixar Happy Meal crowd, a stark contrast to the 1986 Transformers The Movie that scarred children in the 80's with all carnage and swearing, good lord! Those of us middle age farts have to reminisce with the G1 cartoon on DVD.
I was five when G1 transformers dropped--it was amazing. Adults didn't watch the cartoons or play with the toys. Adults don't have to watch this and play with the toys--let the new kids have this new movie. G1 and Transformers the movie still exists, and we can watch them. Irony: There are whole young adults complaining about Transformers One who watched Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction and thought they were absolute gold...
These companies just don’t get it. The I- is a huge universe. They can make a show about any other robot in the universe and follow the rules of the universe, and still have a successful show. Instead they keep cling onto existing characters in the universe, and end up alienating their fans.
You can't limit a character to a voice or that character ceases to be passed on to the next generation after the voice actor can no longer give their talents to the role. Peter Cullen will always be Optimus, but that doesn't mean others can't also.
This is Prime as Orion Pax and Megs as D-13 of Tarn... Yes, Tarn is a place, not just a member of the DJD.
Most of us voicing Optimus Prime would sound somewhere between Mickey Mouse & Ace Ventura. I give him props.

According to showbizgalore Hemsworth is getting 20 million to voice Optimus, and Peter only made 500k for Rise of the Beast. This is so disrespectful to Peter pay the man. I know if Peter voiced Optimus in Transformers One it would have made more money. They just hating on the man.
I wish people talked more about the genuine criticism for the trailer because I know it’s being flooded out by little pet peeves people have for the movie whatever tho just gotta wait until it comes out
Not everyone is saying the same thing. The only fans that have a problem with Orion Pax's voice are the people that became fans without watching the original cartoon. In the original, Orion Pax literally has a younger, non-Optimus voice. It wasn't until Orion Pax was mortally injured, and completely reconstructed, that he gained the famous Optimus Prime voice.
Chris Hemsworth's doing a pretty good job as Orion Pax for what we can hear. But, don't worry, we will hear Peter Cullen's voice as Optimus Prime when he will recieve the Matrix of Leadership (it's confirmed)
we haven't finished the movie... we can't tell... he is Orion Pax in this origin.... then maybe at the end of the movie they'll let us hear his voice as Optimus prime.
Thank God someone knows it’s Orion Pax. If I’m not mistaken it’s in the episode war dawn where the aerialbots go back in time and save Orion in order for him to become Optimus
Funny how back in the day BI (before internet). We all accepted things the way they were and all was good, now in AI (after internet) people complain about EVERYTHING , and it's displayed publicly . I long for the good old days.
I think most viewers never knew that there was a short origin story of optimus in the 80’s animated series that is almost same as this new movie where he is still young and was never called “Optimus Prime” at that time before he met Alpha Trion. And even at the end of that series, Optimus Prime told the story to his fellow autobots how it was. I think If I recall correctly that story is that some Autobots returned to time accidentally when they met a young “Optimus Prime” aka Orion Pax with a love interest involved. Aso take note…he was not a Peterbuilt truck at that time of the story😊
Technically, it's a different character. It has been a long time, but I think he sounded different for the series too. I don't think we should be panicking. Wait until he becomes Prime. It was probably an intentional choice. The voice should be different, so that the change is noticeable, when OP is finally revealed.
i think they need to change the voice actors of this movie because this is the part where they are still not enemies and they are just workers
I loved it! I'm glad we are finally getting a Transformers movie, not a Humans featuring the Transformers movie. I'm excited!
i personally think this movie is entirely none cannon because of the whole concept of them having to find a T-cog to transform, naturally transformers are made with them in instead of low working class not having one at all, also they all change how they look after getting one, normally the matrix of leadership would "rebirth" them into a prime, changing the name and look of the cybertronian, so yeah that's just my take and people shouldn't take this movie seriously if they are thinking about the main timeline, i still think its gonna be a great movie for introducing more people to this genre, i hope this clears up any confusion among the fanbase
It's not Optimus! It's Orion Pax. A much younger, inexperienced bot BEFORE he became Optimus Prime. Of course he's going to sound younger. It's a semi-different character.
The origin story was already written. If you go by the original transformer Gen 1 cartoons. Megaton was never Orions friend. He killed Orion and a few others. Also megatron was created as the ultimate warrior to defeat the autobots. Particularly the ones that carried the matrix. He killed sentinel prime before leadership was passed to Optimus.
Instead of the voice, people should be irked about the "Whedonization" of the dialog.
This reminds me of the discourse around the Mario movie and the voice of Mario. I also think it's time for people to remember that humans age, their voices change over time too, and Peter Cullen may not be able to do the voice much longer. Let the man retire.
I am a huge TF fan. Every big fan in the fan base is excited a little skeptical but excited. Cullen is amazing but people didn’t care during the unicorn trilogy and they don’t really care now. Also Orion Pax’s voice in this trailer is really good his natural American accent sounds very close to Peter Cullen in a way and I think it’s a fuckin GREAT voice as Orion Pax movie will slap

They should have a full digital copy of Peters voice like they did for Earl the voice of Darth Vader.
