NORTH CAROLINA is the best state with the best BBQ and the best people and the best cities and the best sites and the best weather and the best sense of humor and the best attitudes, and of course, the most humble. If you dont believe me, fine, just ask anyone else in NORTH CAROLINA and they'll tell ya.
Yes, from the blue ridge parkway to the bright sunny beaches, we got it all.
Have a nice day, ya hear.

fun fact about the KDH (this is what ive heard when i lived in kitty hawk and went to school there) that back when the pirates were still a thing like black beard and shit, the shipwrecks would have their rum wash up on the sand dunes and ferment in the sun so it was said that the rum was strong enough to kill the devil hence kill devil hills. pretty fun story imo

Don't know if it's true, but Nags Head might have been named after an old wrecker trick of leading around a lame horse with a lantern by its head to fool boats into thinking it was a safe harbor - a lame horse will often bob his head up and down.

That's one of several local legends about KDH. Another one is that a local made a deal with the devil and to save his soul he tricked the devil into falling into a pit trap he dug in on of the local dunes (aka hills).
And third legend that is actually probably the most honest is that in the days of sail the stretch of Roanoke Sound that was behind the modern day KDH would "kill the devil" to navigate.

@@poisonsumc7426 that legend has been in place for years but it's probably untrue. Nags Head has gotten an enormous amount of tourism mileage out of it though.

We also just have a random town named Bath for some reason, and then we also have Blowing Rock and Morehead City. I have never been more proud of my state.

Personally, I'm a fan of Bolivia getting its name from shipping crates that were hanging around the area so when they needed a name for the place, Bolivia it became.

Finally a NC video, and yeah that's pretty accurate representation of us, we're a mix of obvious and odd, although we did name a town Mt. Misery still not to sure on why we did that.
Also Gov can't give us too much crap, they did rename Fort Bragg to Fort Liberty, I mean at least pick a good name, they did pretty good with the Ft Benning rename, and apparently just ran out of hero names for us.
