Who the hell doesn't like Korean music? Haha; personally I like foreign music since I can listen to the melodies and not have to deal with the type of shallow lyrics that dominate American music.
Don't say we dont like Korean music, let's not forget the Korean song that was at the top of our charts for fucking months and it wasn't even that serious compared to other Korean music
1) This is a generalization, most Americans don't like Korean music. Trust me, I would know, because I get mocked for it every day. 2) Gangnam style doesn't count. But it is a serious song that talked about the issues of people doing absolutely ridiculous shit to seem rich. It didn't become popular in America because people like American music. From I have seen and heard, it became popular in America because it's catch and has a "funny looking Asian guy" dancing in it.
I always thought the bassline and backing track melody of 'All About that Bass' sounded more like 'The Ballad of John & Yoko'. This song is far more elaborate and goes more places than 'All About that Bass'. But I also like Kpop, so I would prefer this. ;)
No matter who wrote it first but Koyote obvious sound the BEST!!! When scandal bursted KJM was not upset : "Due to that my voice can be heared other countries too! " He is so witty
Why are people chatting in here about the song similarities more rather than the song itself or this band since it hasn't been uploaded in youtube properly in a long time. I'm glad I got to hear this song I didn't even know it existed since music sharing from around the world was harder 9 years ago.
Yes, you're the only one. I don't want to be rude but I play a lot of musical instruments and it's like wow... totally the same. Example: 0:21 - 0:34 is the line: "You know I won't be no stick-figure, sillicon barbie doll, so if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along." The thing that might have confused you is the fact that at 0:21 the melody of the song is getting from low notes to high but the singing of Meghan is going the opposite way (don't know how to say it properly in English but it's commonly used in pop songs). Also there's a little bit difference of phrasing those two songs. Then another similarity or probably the sameness: 0:37 - 0:47 is the line of Meghan's song too: "Yeah my momma, she told me, don't worry about your size, she says boys like a little more beauty to hold at night." As you probably hear, these ten seconds are totally the same. The confusing is probably in the fact that those two parts of her song are swapped in the original song that you're listening now. And that's just the thing that confirms me that she stole it and wanted to hide it. Sooo))) that's it. Hope it helped. (Really didn't want to be rude but as a musician I just don't want to support bitchies that think "being fat and spreading the message out that though you're beautiful, is still a good thing when you're stealing music". We need to support real musicians you know... And it's not anything against other popstars I just mean - supporting the real ones playing, composing, writing lyrics etc. You may look and sing great but when you can't do the other stuff? Classical musicians had to do all by themselves and they're still doin' that, so why can't she?.... anyway, thanks for reading and sharin' your thoughts.)
Karolína Bláhová i guess i was just comparing it to the whole song, from the article i read i was under the impression that the whole song was exactly like this one not just a few seconds
A few points to clarify: 1. That melody is not a fucking masterpiece of modern music... Coincidences do exist. 2. I very much doubt whoever was behind making the music for All About That Bass (cause we all know it probably wasn't Meghan Trainor) ever heard of this band. 3. It seems a little weird to state what year it is on the beginning of the song. But then again that was 9 years ago times were different. 4. This was uploaded on a Agust and the song came out on June. All that said I dont really like either so come at me haters ;)
But the beat just seems TOO similar to be coincidence. Think about it. If you're going to plagiarize a song, part of a song, or a catchy hook from somewhere, you're obviously not going to pick a well known song. You'll go somewhere no one knows, I don't know... Maybe dig up an old foreign song from 8 years ago? No one in America would know, right?
Siddiq Ismail Actually yeah that does make sense. And after a little research I found this: /watch?v=qi9MPDK5Q10 That's from 2013 so yeah whoever's the actual composer behind Meghan Trainor probably just stole that melody I just felt like playing devil's advocate there and try to feed some trolls :)
How can Americans like a song that plagiarized Korean music but then turn around and say they don't like Korean music?
i like korean music

so the ppl u know are the general pop. of america?
i really love this song better than that other one who stole the beat from this song
this song has been released in 2006 and all about the bass was released in 2014!
but this song's original song is phish contact in 1988. but meghan trainor allowed about sampling agreement.
Contact가 먼저 입니다 all about that bass는 허가를 받았고 기쁨모드는 오히려 아니라고 하네요
Smosh brought me here
woooowwwww here i was thinking someone finally wrote a really catchy song that i liked...
It's the beat as well, not just the melody. She be a thief.
자살시도까지 갔다가 이 노래 듣고 단념했다..종민아..고맙다..신지,빽가도..
극단의 길까지 생각한 나에게..포기해야 할 순간이 언제인지 알게 해준 친구들..
I always thought the bassline and backing track melody of 'All About that Bass' sounded more like 'The Ballad of John & Yoko'.
This song is far more elaborate and goes more places than 'All About that Bass'.
But I also like Kpop, so I would prefer this. ;)
I honestly couldnt agree more

This song was released in 2006, just saying...
Sandra is being a smartass, just saying...
She is right and your point is irrelevant, just saying.
am i the only one who doesn't hear the similarities??.-.
0:34 ~ 0:40
they sing in the exact same tune

i guess i was just comparing it to the whole song, from the article i read i was under the impression that the whole song was exactly like this one not just a few seconds
I know but that part is more evident!
jennifer lopez did the same thing with her song "on the floor", she stole the melody from a brazillian song called "lambada", look it up on youtube
i hear similarities. damn this is bad for Trainor.
