    LYRICS:
    I hear the Savior say
    Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in me thine all in all
    Chorus:
    Jesus paid it all
    All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
    Lord now indeed I find
    Thy power and thine alone
    Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone
    And when before the throne
    I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
    My lips shall still repeat
    O praise the One
    Who paid my debt
    And raised this life
    Up from the dead

    Luke 7:40-50
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
    “Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven-as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
[Praise our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the debt for our dirty, disgusting and shameful sins on that cross, giving us a new life!]

"O praise the one who paid my debt"
The Bible teaches no such thing anywhere. Nowhere!

Skinski7 Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,”
Colossians 1:13 “He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Hebrews 9:15 “Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.”
Matthew 20:28 “Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
Isaiah 53:11 “He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.”
Romans 5:9 “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
Ephesians 1:14 “who is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory.”
Not to mention other teachings of Jesus that align with this message of debt/redemption-payment:
Luke 7:42 “When they were unable to repay him, he forgave both of them. Which one, then, will love him more? 43 “I suppose the one who was forgiven more,” Simon replied. “You have judged correctly.” Jesus said.”
Matthew 18:32 “Then the master summoned him and declared, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave all your debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’”
Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors;”
Jesus has paid an eternal debt on our behalf so that we may have eternal life.
‘O PRAISE THE ONE WHO PAID MY DEBT AND RAISED THIS LIFE UP FROM THE DEAD!’

      PART 1
If what you say is the truth (ie. reality) then it will be supported by the Scriptures.
Rom 3:23-24. Eph 1:7 and Col 1:13 are the first three verses you chose to quote as evidence that "Jesus paid your debt" yet none of those verses say that do they? BE TRUTHFUL PLEASE. They simply don't say that.
      What do they say?
Romans 3:23-24.....All have sinned (both Jew and Gentile - Rom 3:9), Redemption that is IN Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:7.........In Him we have redemption through His blood, including the forgiveness of sins.
Col 1:13...................He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His Son.We have redemption IN Him, the forgiveness of sins.
Redemption - apolutrōsis (Strong's G629) - From a compound of G575 (apo' - off, away, departure) and G3083 (lutron - to loosen, redemption price/ransom), ; (the act) ransom in full, that is, (figuratively) riddance, or (specifically) Christian salvation: - deliverance, redemption.
The word "redemption" literally refers to the notion of "being set free by the payment of a ransom" and the associated "freedom" is said to be IN Jesus Christ. Let's read Romans 8:2 to give us more insight...
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Paul teaches that it is the "law of the Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ" that has made Him free from the law of sin and death. Obviously the "Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ making me free" and "Redemption IN Jesus Christ" is referring to the exact same thing. Furthermore, Paul continues...
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
      1. The law could not bring about this freedom due to the weakness of the flesh.
      2. Jesus condemned sin IN the flesh.
      3. The purpose of Jesus being sent and thus condemning sin IN the flesh is that the "righteousness of the law be fulfilled ÏN us."
      4. The "righteousness of the law" is "fulfilled IN those whom WALK after the Spirit.
There is no concept of "debt paid" anywhere in the text. Rather their is the concept of a RANSOM PAID in order to FREE YOU FROM BONDAGE/SLAVERY. The ransom is also associated with WALKING according to the Spirit which is associated with being IN Jesus Christ, the Spirit of His life.
The idea of Jesus "paying your debt" completely destroys "redemption" because it removes YOU from the picture and twists justification into an ABSTRACTION whereby salvation becomes a mere POSITION not connected to "walking after the Spirit." That is the deception here.
We have redemption IN Him through His blood (Eph 1:7) because that is a reference to a MANIFEST ABIDING STATE in the "Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ" (Rom 8:2) not some "position" based on a "transaction" (debt paid) which has NOTHING to do with your walk and true condition of your heart. This is why the "debt paid" lie can be used as an offset for ongoing wickedness. People believe they can sin and not surely die because they think their justification is related to their debt being paid in full, little understanding that the Bible actually teaches RANSOM in the context of setting them free from the BONDAGE OF SERVING SIN.
He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into His kingdom (Col 1:13) is a real rescue FROM sin (Mat 1:21). Consider that Paul wrote...
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Clearly the "freedom" is associated with a freedom from SERVING sin. We are slaves to whom be obey/serve.
One cannot be "free from sin" and at the same time "serve sin." We are slaves to whom we OBEY. Paul teaches that being "set free" is connected to "obeying from the heart the form of doctrine delivered by Jesus Christ" which results in "being set free from sin and becoming a servant of righteousness."
Those who teach "debt paid" NEVER teach that because the "sin service" NEVER stops.
Do you teach that the sin service stops? I highly doubt it, in fact I know you don't because you cannot under "debt paid" theology. "Debt paid" theology completely disconnects the Cross from the concept of "whom we serve is whom we belong to." Under "debt paid" you can "serve sin" and "belong to God" because the "payment" is PURELY an ABSTRACTION, a "cosmic transaction" so to speak. It''s the perfect deception to fool millions upon millions of people.

      PART 2
In part 1 we looked at Rom 3:23-24, Eph 1:7 and Col 1:13. I'll continue with a little more on Eph 1:7 for it says...
      Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
      Redemption THROUGH His blood.
What does the Scripture say in regards to blood? Let's look at Leviticus...
Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Life is in the blood. Physically yes indeed it is, if we drain the blood from a living organism that organism will die because it is through the medium of blood that both oxygen and nutrients are supplied to the cells as well as waste is removed. Hence, in a biological sense, blood both sustains life and cleanses it.
In the New Testament we read...
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
1Co_15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening (life giving) spirit.
True life is found in the Spirit, the Spirit of life IN Jesus Christ. Physical life in physical blood is obviously a type and shadow representing spiritual life in the Spirit, after all God seeks those whom will worship Him in Spirit and truth...
Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
      We also read...
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 9:14 is one of the verses that those whom teach "debt paid" NEVER refer to because it would contradict their theology. Heb 9:14 states very clearly that the "blood of Christ" PURGES THE CONSCIENCE from dead works that we may serve the living God. After verse 14 we read...
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
FOR THIS CAUSE! What cause? For the cause of "purging the conscience of dead works" Jesus is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death He would establish the New Testament. "Debt paid" theologians NEVER refer to Heb 9:14-17 because they associate Jesus death with "paying their sin debt" NOT "purging their conscience of dead works."
What is a "dead work?" A dead work is ANY work done apart from the Spirit. Hence...
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
It is the Spirit that brings life to any work. If we do a work apart from the Spirit then it is a dead work, it is empty, there is no life behind it. Compare to...
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
The "deeds of the law" cannot justify anyone because whilst the law brings the knowledge of sin it cannot bring life to someone whom has sinned hence...
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
The law was a good thing in that it illustrated life (ie. right conduct) but it brought death because it pointed out where one had done evil. The law couldn't restore one to life because we cannot undo our past and thus our conscience was defiled hence...
      Heb 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
The Old Testament sacrificial system could NEVER make him that did the service perfect as PERTAINING TO THE CONSCIENCE. That is the problem and "debt paid" theologians ignore (or cannot perceive) that scripture also.
Hebrews 9:9 teaches that the blood of bulls and goats could NEVER perfect us as pertaining to the conscience but in Hebrews 9:15 we read that the blood of Jesus is able to "purge our conscience of dead works." Hence...
Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Now we can serve in NEWNESS OF SPIRIT, and not in the oldness of letter. Under the New Covenant ALL our works are made alive unto God through the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ, hence REDEMPTION IN CHRIST.
"Debt paid" completely ignores and redefines this concept. Under "debt paid" one doesn't have to "walk in the Spirit" because the problem between the sinner and God is viewed as purely LEGAL and the idea of "debt paid" satisfied the "debt owed" and BINGO problem solved. People just have to trust in "debt paid" and not worry too much about their behaviour cos, well "not of works." Salvation is twisted into a mere POSITION as opposed to being s MANIFEST SPIRITUAL REALITY.
      Jesus did teach...
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin, ala we are slaves to whom we obey (Rom 6:16). Being "set free indeed" relates to being set free from serving sin.
      Shall I continue?
I would like to go through all the proof texts you posted (none of which teach "debt paid") but that depends on how you respond to what I have written so far. Most people under "debt paid" are so emotionally attached to their doctrine (ie. time invested, not wanting to be wrong, comfort in numbers) that they'll simply suppress the obvious truth in their mind. If you are going to do that then I'll just expend my efforts elsewhere.
      Let me know.
      Be well.
      Scott

No thank you. You clearly have strong convictions about this issue and this is not the platform for me to debate you on these ideas. But suffice it to say that I think you're wrong. You've inaccurately conflated the idea that just because Jesus has paid our debt in full (what you call "debt paid" theology) then that means it doesn't matter how we live. This isn't true though. Not at all. The debt is paid but we must still "show thyselves approved!"
The Bible teaches justification by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. This IS a transaction. We repent and believe the gospel and put our faith in Jesus. THEN Jesus REDEEMS us He pays our sin debt in full. THEN we are born again by the Spirit of God. THEN we begin to live in newness of life by the Holy Spirit. This is all a singular transaction. You cannot be saved without ALSO being redeemed and being born again. And no one who is born again can continue to sin because they have been born of God. (1 John 3:9)
We do not have to keep earning our justification as if it depends upon our own ability - this is to deny the gospel "good news" and to return to the error of Rome. We do NOT teach that you can continue to "serve sin." Anyone who has been redeemed and born again is a new creation that is DEAD to sin. (Romans 6) I'm perfectly fine with Hebrews 9:14. Born of the Holy Spirit the conscience, the mind, the desires, and everything else is being renewed.
You wrote: "Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin, ala we are slaves to whom we obey (Rom 6:16). Being "set free indeed" relates to being set free from serving sin." Have you read the full book of Romans? If you continued to read chapter 7 you see that all Christians (including Paul) will struggle to some degree with the sinful desires of the flesh. This does not mean they will not conquer them if they live by the Spirit, it means that we never stop this internal war of desires this side of Heaven. However:
"Romans 8:1Therefore, there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those WHO ARE IN Christ Jesus. 2For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an OFFERING for sin. Romans 8 makes it clear that those in Christ are FREE INDEED! Take Paul's warning here seriously: "Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery."
You hate the debt-payment phrasing but it is biblical. And as I've already shown in no way is it an excuse for unrighteousness or sinful living. I despise easy-believism and the hyper grace stuff being taught! That is not based on THIS teaching so don't conflate the two.
For more on the "Redeemed and Born Again so Now Forever Different and holy" discussion read through the first 3 chapters of 1 John. It couldn't be more clear. It is only those who have been genuinely born again that will bear good fruit.
