This is something I just posted on Facebook about this story. I think this is a monumental story that everyone needs to hear! In a letter to Dr. Jeff Zeig about how to study the psychotherapy and hypnosis resources he created. (Because he felt he was too old and too sick to take him on as a student.) The really important thing is motivation for change and the fact that no human being ever fully knows their capabilities. Milton Erickson This was pure gold. I actually appreciate MORE that Erickson didn’t take Zeig as a student but subsequently let him come to stay with him (after Zeig asked....smart move 😉) To me this was eve better because he got to experience how Erickson lived and moved. He got to study his “being” and since Erickson embodied the practice this was an even better mentorship than a traditional educational approach. 😃
In spanish there is an amazing TV show that uses a lot of artistic/hypnotic patterns, "El Chavo del 8". In portuguese it also works well, here in Brazil this TV show is called "Chaves". Spanish and portuguese shares a lot of grammar, phonetics, jokes and play words it uses to work in both language as well. It might be a great source to learn a bit of Erickson work. In the portuguese version of "El Chavo" we have the pleasure to listen "Bruton Music - Kids and Cartoons" as BGM, it makes the experience so magic and healing.
