    Thanks for the interesting and well presented video. I recently bought this tripod and I do macro work close to the ground. I bought a 50 mm 3/8th (I think it was 3/8th) bolt and made up a washer to fit and a couple of rubber gaskets. I then removed the centre column and attached the ball head directly to the apex of the tripod, tightened up the camera to it and could then do close to the ground photography. However, care must be taken when doing this because if the bolt is too long it can puncture the camera body when tightening. The other option is to buy the Three Legged Thing (Brian, I believe) which you can screw the ball head directly to top of tripod after removing centre column. This tripod also gives you good height even without the centre column but comes in quite a bit more expensive. I like the lightness and compact size of the Manfrotto Elements mk II carbon fibre option though.

    Hi Amanda & Linus. Just writing in to say helloand thank you so much for your effort in creating this content. Came across this exact tripod (I'm from Malaysia) and am glad to have found a really good quality and fair review on this tripod. Subbed!

    First tripod. I only need it for photography on certain occasions. I got an open box deal for $47 today. It was used for display only. For my needs this should be just about perfect.

    Nice review. I own this and it is quite sturdy for my Nikon D7000 w/battery grip and Sigma150-600mm lens with no issues.
    As a reference, 28 grams = 1 ounce and 1kg = 2.2lbs. 2.5cm = 1 inch.

    You CAN take the central column out.The threaded hook accessory shows that you can take aout the similar plastic element which blocks the central column at the end by unscrewing it.

    I was looking for a video on this tripod, as it didn't come with instructions and has a lot more too it then my old tripod. I wish I has seen this video before I got it may of put me off getting it. What I don't like is the leg locks you mentioned. I used tripod for 2nd time to day and needed the legs to go lower but then had no stability. I also hate the plate that attaches to camera. I'm used to quick release, this is annoying to line up plate with tripod then have to screw it in. I've used twice and don't like this tripod but stuck with it now.

      If you get a chance to trade it or sell it consider picking up a vanguard tripod. We have done a few vanguard reviews and I am really pleased with their quality and convenience. The price is not bad at all either. We tested their Veo Go 3 235ab (149$ ish), it was surprisingly sturdy for a tiny tripod.

      I preferred this much more than the Manfrotto elements, at least in terms of a compact travel tripod.

    Does the ball head knob have friction control?

    • @soldoutmedia8025
      @soldoutmedia8025  3 роки тому

      Its pretty basic so I don’t think you have much friction control on the ball head but you can put another ball head on no problem.

    Worst tripod I’ve ever used or bought. Do not buy this. The grey locks that you use to lock it into place move themselves to a different notch and the tripod isn’t sturdy. Do not buy.

    • @soldoutmedia8025
      @soldoutmedia8025  Рік тому

      I am not surprised. Like I said this is not a tripod for a serious user I would recommend this to someone like my mother who would rarely use it- she would save money. But over all this was a very plastic tripod!

      @@soldoutmedia8025 far better ones for less price like the Benro i5. I mean the tripod itself is okay but the leg locking mechanisms are annoying and don’t stay in place.

      The tripod is not plastic, it just has some plastic parts, in fact it is very sturdy. I handles a Nikon D7000 with attached battery grip and a Sigma 150"600mm lens with no issues.
