I do not like to wear double buttons either. I think the buttons that you used on your sweater go really well, I really like them and it really is a beautiful sweater. I'm going to share what you did in your journal with my daughter. She enjoys journaling and she's very artistic so maybe this will give her some ideas.
Omg, the needlework parade was epic. That piece that looks kind of like tiles?!? ❤❤❤ love it. I imagine that's what your geometric journal patterns would look like worked up into stitching. I can't wait to see what you come up with when you translate one of those into fiber.
