Ironic considering he’s talking about out-shining Chris Rock right after stealing an iconic Chris Rock joke- “being a minority in America is like that uncle who molested you, but paid your college tuition.”
My best memory of him was on that Def Comedy show where he had a woman (Big Lez, the choreographer) stand behind him and use her arms and hands like they were his. And had her express how they were supposed to move based on what he was saying. And of course he ended it by saying how as a black man he liked to hold his privates. To which she hesitated at 1st but then did it to the eruption of the crowd!
Ted was a beast, he would have the walls moving. I knew he had to be blackballed. This man could hang with Bernie Mac, I said he should have been one of the Kings of Comedy. When he did Mike Tyson picking cotton, the whole place erupted. He had a comedy special and man he killed it.

Whether you work a job and you watch the "kiss ass" coworker get promoted, or the girl who get pregnant by the professional athlete and now wants an enormous amount of child support, or the actor/ actress giving sexual favors to get the next role in the movie....................its all a game and everyone has a role to play. @pierre I know he said he wished he had a OG to school him but would he have listened. When we are young sometimes we think we know it all. I tried to help younger people but it’s takes them experiencing what I was trying to warm them about to really learn.
Yeah you do that now, but that is because you listened to not only your experience, but the experience of others. In my case as I am now middle-age, I had no one tell me anything and I was willing to learn. To me whether he wouldve listened or not is immaterial. He should have at least been told.
@@willia3r true you have a point on he should have been told but on the flip side too not everyone has your best interest also. I have had people older that I thought were giving advice from a loving place but it wasn’t.
@@sassysamuel4554 you have a good point there, that’s why I called of these previous generation folks _”olders”_ and not _”elders”_ because elders is a prestigious title only to be given to those who have and are willing to advise the youth in a positive forward moving direction. And that hasn’t been the case with a lot of these old folks, they dropped the ball badly and the results are now revealed obviously😕
Pierre's Panic Room is one of the best shows i have seen and it's a much needed forum for comics past and present but truth be told i have only gotten a few chuckles when it came to Teddy because majority of his jokes were recycled and flipped from past/present comic's routines. My OPINION may not be a popular one but it's an honest one.Regardless of the nature of the business there is a reason some comics go on to be superstars without having an "OG" to game them up.
Two Soufeast bammas🤣but all seriousness though, I know Pierre from Kentucky courts and the first time I heard Ted was at club in DC and they asked him to say a few words because the DJ's equipment wasn't working so he came up to tell a few jokes until the party could be restarted, that fool straight ripped it, tah had to be 87-88, Ibex club.
Teddy stole a Chris Rock joke. Chris Rock made that uncle joke about America and Black people in his "Never Scared" HBO special off of his Black Ambition tour. Teddy is a hack.
When I was with the Apollo they paid main artists around $755. The others on stage w the main artist were paid less than $400, if I remember correctly.
I remember Teddy in DC in the 90's . He was the man. He used to drive a Porsche. He was before Rock. He always gave love to his people, and he looks the same while we all aged. 😂

I'm from D.C., I remember Teddy had comedy club in Chinatown, on I.st, N.W.
Ooooooh i love me some Ted Carpenter. Still show the pic to people and my favorite joke of them all . He said my neighborhood was so bad the mail man leave/ drop mail at the corner and you sort it out yourself. I love you Ted Carpenter ❤
I remember I went to a show to see bigger names at the time and he opened! I laughed so hard I hit my head on the chair in front of me. 😂 …I was so tired after he was done I couldn’t really laugh anymore for rest of show 🤣
I appreciate his openness and his ability to see what he did right as well as what he did wrong. I love Teddy Carpenter. He definitely deserves some light and stage and screen. Burning bridges can be costly.
He’s so funny! I wondered what happened with him!
Teddy Carpenter is a full fledge'd stand up comedian and I been a follower of the comedy craft forever....but this uncle reference is Chris Rock's joke when he talked on the relationships between blacks and America.
I like that y’all talk about the business of show business. That is so interesting.
Speak your mind
Great interview 👊🏽💪🏽💯
Two Soufeast bammas🤣but all seriousness though, I know Pierre from Kentucky courts and the first time I heard Ted was at club in DC and they asked him to say a few words because the DJ's equipment wasn't working so he came up to tell a few jokes until the party could be restarted, that fool straight ripped it, tah had to be 87-88, Ibex club.
Teddy stole a Chris Rock joke. Chris Rock made that uncle joke about America and Black people in his "Never Scared" HBO special off of his Black Ambition tour. Teddy is a hack.
Yup I recognized that joke immediately
When I was with the Apollo they paid main artists around $755. The others on stage w the main artist were paid less than $400, if I remember correctly.
I’ve never heard of this guy and I love that art. It takes him a long time to answer a question.
Thanks for sharing!!!
killin' me with all them OKAYs, lol
I hope I killed you
I remember Teddy in DC in the 90's . He was the man. He used to drive a Porsche. He was before Rock. He always gave love to his people, and he looks the same while we all aged. 😂
I saw him live twice!
I always thought Teddy Carpenter was one the best out there. He's talented and real.
🥰🥰🥰 Love this man!!! So good to see him!!
This guy was his own worst enemy, he would come out and demand people clap for him and even say 'this ain't amateur night you better clap'
1:30 Tony Carpenter said joke
Chris Rock made famous!!
Even Black people; lucky to be here....
but when you're Black you gotta look at America a little different.
It's like your uncle who paid for your college, but molested you. You gotta forgive, right? You gotta forgive.
CHRIS ROCK
