Did this route in 1986 I led the Leaning Column and Durrance Crack pitches, as well as the Flake Crack 4th pitch, and finished via the Bailey Direct. Left me wanting more on the Tower, but life intervened otherwise with family illnesses.
The Wiessner Route was the first "Modern Technical" climb established by legendary Fritz Wiessner, a German born and educated man from Dresden, who became an American citizen in the 1930's. It's a "scary hard 5.8" climb.

Something about the way he talks is so chill. His voice has a pacifying effect.

It didn't show the cussin crack pitch. It was my favorite. I can't wait to get back there. I wish this video was longer to pacify me until then.

Frank is a Liar! The first route done on the Tower was the Stake Ladder, and I've talked to Indians that claim their people climbed it first, and he doesn't have a clue what has really taken place at Devils Tower, but is certain he does.

He clearly says durrance wasn't the first route put up. Frank is a legend, not a liar.
