So good! Did your moms version have coconut too? Or just some sugar to make it sweet? We still need to make a sweet version for the channel sometime, so if you have a good recipe we'd love to know about it :)
We had these at a local Puerto Rican restaurant, and loved them, so I wanted to try to replicate them at home. I am completely new to Puerto Rican recipes, but yours made this quite easy to make, and they came out great. I used mozzarella and brie. My Puerto Rican husband approved! Thanks for making this video and sharing this recipe!
I love these, I make them once a month Saturday’s are the only day that we eat fried foods in my house. Each Saturday we pick what we are going to eat that day wether is pastelillos de queso, carne, jamón c/queso o queso y guayaba, the following weekend bacalaitos, and the next weekend the sorullitos which are my favorite and are so good with cheese inside and guayaba sauce on the side. The other weekend we do Central America fritters arepas, empanadas, etc. Thank you for sharing the recipe 🙏🏽
As a child (1960’s) my Mom would make these all the time and they were sweet and crispy. Her grandmother showed her how to make them and they never had cheese. When did they start adding cheese?
I don’t think most people add cheese inside so it’s not super common but it is really delicious and addictive. We don’t make them that often at home because we have no self control and eat them all 😝
Hola! I love, love garlic! Food could NEVER have too much garlic for me! I'm Mexican, but I love Puerto Rican food & your channel helps me tremendously when it comes to making Puerto Rican food, although my my mom & I enjoy it VERY MUCH & VERY OFTEN, my poor dad can't stand garlic so he has to eat something else for a couple of days because I usually make enough to feed an army! 😉
Zorullitos are my favorite!!! I’ll be making these for sure! My Puerto Rican grandma has tried to teach me how to make these many times but I never remember her freehand instructions lol 😆 Thanks for the videos guys!
OMG yes, abuelas always have the best recipes but somehow they never get written down! We had the same problem with Yomarie's grandmother's bistec recipe. Literally the WHOLE family raves about it, but no one knows how she did it. Now every time we make bistec, someone's like "well, its not as good as what I remember."
We actually have two Turkey recipes: Pavochon (ua-cam.com/video/XSS5r34-Ssw/v-deo.html) and Turkey in the bag (ua-cam.com/video/jyYlZ9EFBXw/v-deo.html) I would say these are the most popular methods in PR
Love your videos, because I learn new things. Is it possible to also include the measurements of every ingredient being used in your videos. Personally it's how I learn until I master something and come up with my own measurements. Thank you
Soledad! So glad to hear that you enjoy our videos. The measurements are included in the video description and we also have a blog with all of our recipes: jeffandjopr.com.
Definitely! It's all in the video description, if you click on the "Show More" button. But in any case, I've copied them below: 2.5 cups water 1 cup milk 2 tsp salt 3 tbs butter 2.5 c. cornmeal ½ cup of flour ½ cup shredded Longhorn cheddar cheese Oil for frying Cheese for stuffed sorullitos
Hi Migdalia! Add some sugar to our recipe! I would start with 2 tablespoons of white sugar, try it and add more if you want - one tablespoon at a time. Will be delicious!
You can also make the tradicional ones with cheese inside, just cut the cheese longer and thinner, thats how my grandma makes it and they are delicious!! Also is easier to dipp than the ballshape. Nice recipe tho!
I saw what you mentioned to another person asking for the measurements also lol but unfortunately I don't know why maybe because I watch you on my TV I don't get descriptions on the more. Please make it easy on us and mention measurements please makes it so much easier for us
Thanks Diana! Really appreciate the feedback and we'll see if can address it in the future. In the meantime, we've tried to make it easier for people to find the measurements through our blog (www.jeffandjopr.com/post/sorullitos-puerto-rican-corn-fritters). That has all of the measurements in a web form.
Additionally to the below, here is the list: 2.5 cups water 1 cup milk 2 tsp salt 3 tbs butter 2.5 c. cornmeal ½ cup of flour ½ cup shredded Longhorn cheddar cheese
Hi Diana, just wanted to circle back on your request from earlier and flag our newest video: ua-cam.com/video/m_Q-xSWg7bU/v-deo.html. In this video we verbally described the measurements at the beginning of the video. Would love to get your feedback on whether this addresses your concern and is helpful. Thanks!
@@JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen Awwww Thanks guys for taking the time to write me again. I appreciate it greatly you guys are awesome. May God continue to bless you in everything you do. And hey guyz...I still haven't been able to find that beautiful beige cookware you use on film...oh well, let me know if see it and where😀 DLB
I just tried this recipe really easy to follow but I just couldn't get it to work the dough in the inside would not cook and I tried about 5 different sizes can't figure it out why not🤔
I’m sorry to hear that. The dough is actually cooked when you put it in the stovetop so although the dough may feel chewy in the middle, it’s cooked so no concern. Now, if you want it to be crispy all over, try very thin cylinders. Let me know your thoughts and feel free to send pics.
That’s it? This is my favorite food and I haven’t lived in PR for 11 and I keep asking my Dad to make them and he keeps saying he doesn’t know the recipe.
Thanks for the feedback Diana, I responded to your other comment, but just in case, here are the ingredients: 2.5 cups water 1 cup milk 2 tsp salt 3 tbs butter 2.5 c. cornmeal ½ cup of flour ½ cup shredded Longhorn cheddar cheese These are also available in the video description and the blog: www.jeffandjopr.com/post/sorullitos-puerto-rican-corn-fritters Good luck!
Do you think you could share the measurements of everything you use at the beginning of your videos before you get started? Kind of like something saying for this recipe you will need: and then list the ingredients for us PLEASE? I think a lot of us would REALLY APPRECIATE IT! THANK YOU!
Hi! Thank you so much! All the ingredients are listed in the description of the video and we also have a blog where you can read the whole recipe: jeffandjopr.com

Ayyydiomio Jeff & Joe Please forgive the nuisance that I am😔but it's so much easier to hear measurements while a video is going on. Maybe its cuz I'm dumb but I went to your blog and everything is in writing and I am not a good reader😭 I know that there must be a strategy why you don't give exact measurements on your videos so that people will go to your blog but you don't know how much easier you would make it on people if you just gave the measurements while you're making a video layman's terms and stead of making a person go all the way to your blog and search for the video and have to read out the whole description... I'm sorry😭 So much easier to just get it from the video, it's like a one stop🛑 You guys are awesome tho🙏
Hi Diana, thanks again for the feedback. We definitely don't have a strategy of pushing people to our blog--all the measurements are included in the UA-cam video description, which is immediately accessible when you are watching the video. I hear you that it would be easier for you if we stated the specific measurements in the videos and will take that into consideration going forward. Obviously we can't do that with the old videos, as they have already been finalized, but we will talk it out and get some input from others to see how best to proceed. Thanks so much for your feedback!
Thanks for the feedback Peter! We are doing our best here and still have alot to learn. This was one of earlier videos, so check out some of our new stuff and let us know if we are doing any better.
Love making the sweet version in the morning with a nice cup of coffee. That’s how my mom made them. 😋😋😋

Jeff and Jo's Puerto Rican Kitchen she used sugar. It was pretty basic but good. My kids love it. It was water, salt, sugar butter and the cornmeal.
Thanks for sharing, we'll have to try it!

Yes!!!! Equally delicious

We never added flour. Also can be done/mostly made with hot water.
