Organized by EMPOWER Malaysia and 3R Media with the support of the U.S. Embassy, Creating Agents for Change was a five-month, capacity-building program that equipped 20 young women to become better advocates in their fight for equality. Involving a series of immersive capacity-building workshops, the 20 young Malaysian women received in-depth training in the foundations of human and gender rights to anchor their advocacy efforts. They also underwent media training and mentorship to incorporate creativity in promoting social change as well as how to utilize media tools effectively to run their own media-focused advocacy campaigns in the future.
The program culminated with the participants having produced their own advocacy videos on select gender issues in Malaysia such as online sexual gender-based violence, feminized work, indigenous and minority representation, and child marriage.
