I love how she sings even if she is sick or not she is such a good singer or at least that is what i think i know there may people out there who do not like her but i do not care cause she is my favorite singer so yeah.
Ryan Guillartes She's barefoot for a lot of her performances. She said in an interview once that she prefers to not wear shoes because she just doesn't like wearing shoes.
Love a cool crooner every once in a while 😉❄️☮️ The Snow Queen Formerly Known As Elsa should sing MORE Prince, (miss him so. And, YES, the acronym is rubbish... Noticed after i wrote )
I found another user who uploaded "Creep" and "Let It Go", filming the jumbotron which did show the terps and captions and looked for more and that's how I cam across yours. :)
+Kaitlyn Mielke I posted the two other videos, and I'm glad to see you appreciated the videos. Honestly, if I had been closer, I would have filmed Idina and not the screen. It's important to know that Colleen is amazing and goes out of her way to make sure Idina's fans get a chance to experience as many of her performances as possible. She is so good to us, and this video is wonderful! Such an amazing and emotional cover! Please know that this is not meant as an attack at all, and I truly hope it doesn't come across that way. Fanzels just really love our Colleen!
+ChristinaR720 No, no not at all! :) I was going to suggest to Colleen that adding captions is an option (thanks to UA-cam's awesome incentives for accessibility). I would be more than happy to help with that. (Perks of adding CC - more fans for our Ms Menzel!)
My god her singing is awful these days and her voice is shot. Defying Gravity is in a much lower key and out of tune. And her diction is lazy and slurred. And her voice is raspy and shot from years of improper technique. Lea Salonga is the same age as Idina but her voice is in excellent condition and can still sing A Whole New World and Reflection just as well and in the same key as she did back in the 90s. She also does a mean Defying Gravity.
Ejae97 *sigh* crazy fans. You two, just because someone's opinion differs from yours or is negative doesn't make it invalid or wrong. I am as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. Saying that my opinion is wrong is just ridiculous. There are many different tastes in music and many people including myself don't like Idina Menzel. And yes I did watch the video and the above were my observations. From a technical standpoint, Idina Menzel is not a world class singer by any stretch of the imagination (even 12 year old Beau Dermott on BGT sings Defying Gravity better than Idina). She has obvious technique issues. She's very nasally, very shouty on her high belts, and lacks a clean tone, and is overall harsh and screechy. She was a little better back when she originally sang Defying Gravity but her voice has deteriorated badly since then. Notice how she cannot hit the final high note of Let It Go live unless she sings in a lower key. She's the original singer yet most cover artists have an easier time with the notes than her. Almost everyone else can hit the aforementioned high note with ease. Idina is incapable of mixed belting (she either does chest belt or pure head voice but doesn't know how to mix her registers) so she makes it a lot harder for herself than it need be.
@lhdc1 I think she sounded nice on the Prince song, that one came off a lot better than "Defying Gravity"--on that one I definitely agree with you. When you start to compare her technique to someone like Lea Salonga or Willemijn Verkaik (man, her version of "Defying Gravity" at the Olivier awards is fantastic! Gorgeous rendition... look it up y'all :)) you can see that Idina is more of an actress who sings, not a singer who acts. You know what I mean? Yeah, my point is that her technique has never been all that great (look up Idina's Letterman performance of "Defying Gravity" and you'll see that she's been using some bad technique to reach the high notes for a very long time--contrast it with Willemijn's version where she is using such good resonance). For this performance, on "flying so high" you can hear her start to crack because she's pulled up too much chest and doesn't have a good healthy resonance going, which always seems to be a problem for her when she sings higher. For years I've noticed this with her... she makes things a lot more difficult for herself than they need to be by being so chesty and shout-y on the higher notes. "Is ever gonna bring me down" here is the perfect example of this--wow, it was not good.... I heard or read somewhere that Idina has a vocal coach; if that's true, she should fire that person. :( If she'd start to improve her technique, I'd enjoy listening to her because--as Colleen Uribe noted--Idina has a one-of-a-kind quality to the way her voice sounds. Her technique--or, to be more correct, lack thereof--is very distracting.
@Stage Right Yeah, I can get behind that argument to a certain extent... but not really in Idina's case. The point is really that Idina COULD have those higher notes and sing with ease in that register if she'd improve her technique issues. You can hear that she's got all the head voice notes--so she DOES have a higher range. But she needs to be able to mix the lower and upper register instead of just trying to bring up her speaking voice (chest voice) to try to reach those notes.
If you went to the Don't Rain on My Parade Video...you'd see that she explained she was battling a cold that week, so of course her voice wasn't in tip top shape, but she still gave one heck of a performance. And correct me if I'm wrong, but did Lea Salonga do two years of Wicked Workshop, two years of Broadway Wicked, another year in London Wicked, and then do a belting maniac musical like If/Then for two years? No I don't think she did.
OnceUponATimeAddict Lea Salonga has been busy with her own musical performances and concerts for many years--she started when she was like 17... Willemijn Verkaik did "Wicked" all over the world for 7 years in several different languages... I don't mean to sound harsh, but what's your point? If it's that Idina's voice is damaged, I'd disagree with you. I hear useful range and clear tonality there... I contend that she'd have an easier time and her voice would sound better if she applied better technique. Whether she had a cold or not, I kind of think that's irrelevant because I've heard her sing these songs when she was healthy and I still have a problem with her technique being too chesty and strained, which makes it difficult to be efficient, stay on key and reach the high notes easily.
Absolutly incredible! She always blows me away!
It's not possible not to love her ! 💓
I love how she sings even if she is sick or not she is such a good singer or at least that is what i think i know there may people out there who do not like her but i do not care cause she is my favorite singer so yeah.
I believe she was sick when she did that concert. I would love to sing like a sick Idina haha
Beautiful, what more can I say?
I loved this
Thank you so much! I am so grateful to you.
Well cool! Today's inspiration to go work on some music. Thanks :)

wish the video included the ASL terps and captions from the jumbotron.... :(
Sorry-I wanted to record Idina. It's sad when you share a video and people are disappointed with what you share.... :(
+Colleen Uribe Love this! Thank you so much!

She has beautiful voice with no passion or discipline
Sounds like a funeral🤕🤕🤕
Lazy
Really lazy :(
