  • ecoming a licensed doctor in Ontario, Canada, if you have completed your MBBS in India, involves several steps. Here's a detailed guide with examples:
Eligibility Assessment: Contact the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) and request an eligibility assessment of your medical degree and credentials. The MCC will review your qualifications to ensure they meet Canadian standards. You'll need to submit documents like your academic transcripts, medical degree certificate, and other relevant credentials.
Example: You submit your MBBS degree certificate, academic transcripts, and other required documents to the MCC for evaluation.
Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE): If your credentials are accepted, you must take the MCCEE. This exam assesses your medical knowledge and clinical decision-making abilities. Passing the MCCEE is a prerequisite for further steps.
Example: You register for the MCCEE and prepare for the exam, which includes reviewing medical textbooks, practice questions, and taking online courses to enhance your knowledge.
Apply for Residency Program: Apply for a medical residency program in Canada through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). Residency training is mandatory for all doctors in Canada, regardless of previous experience.
Example: You apply for a residency program in Family Medicine at a hospital in Ontario through CaRMS. You provide your CV, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement explaining your interest in the program.
Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE Part I): During your residency, you'll need to take the MCCQE Part I, which tests your medical knowledge and clinical decision-making abilities.
Example: After completing the first year of your Family Medicine residency, you register for the MCCQE Part I and study diligently to pass the exam.
Complete Residency Training: Successfully complete your residency training program. The duration of residency varies depending on the specialty you choose.
Example: You complete a two-year Family Medicine residency program, which includes rotations in various medical specialties and hands-on patient care.
Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II (MCCQE Part II): After completing your residency, you must take the MCCQE Part II, which assesses your clinical skills and abilities.
Example: You schedule the MCCQE Part II after finishing your residency. The exam includes simulated patient encounters and clinical scenarios that test your diagnostic and patient management skills.
Apply for Medical Licensure: Apply to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) for medical licensure. The CPSO is the regulatory authority for physicians in Ontario.
Example: You submit your application to the CPSO, which includes documentation of your medical education, residency training, exam scores, and other required information.
Language Proficiency: Ensure that you meet the language proficiency requirements for the CPSO. You may need to demonstrate proficiency in English or French, depending on your chosen language of practice.
Example: You take an English language proficiency test like IELTS or TOEFL and achieve the required scores as specified by the CPSO.
Completing Other Requirements: Some provinces may have additional requirements, such as a short period of supervised practice or a provincial licensing exam. Be prepared to fulfill these requirements if necessary.
Example: The CPSO may require you to undergo a short period of supervised practice to familiarize yourself with the healthcare system and standards of care in Ontario.
Continuing Professional Development: As a licensed doctor in Ontario, you'll be required to participate in continuing professional development activities to maintain your license.
Example: You attend medical conferences, workshops, and complete online courses regularly to stay updated with the latest medical advancements and maintain your medical knowledge and skills.
Please note that the process of becoming a licensed doctor in Ontario may take several years, and it's essential to stay informed about the latest requirements and guidelines from the relevant authorities. Consulting with the CPSO and seeking guidance from experienced profe

From which source are you reading out this information from? Its wrong. There is no more MCCEE examination. There is only MCCQE Part 1 and NAC examination before CaRMS. Please dont give false information. You can refer the MCC official website.

Hello Ma'am, your video is very informative. Thanks! I have a question on behalf of a friend of mine. She has completed her MBBS in India but she does not practice. Instead, her profile in India is of an Medical Advisor with Diabetes as her specialty. She has a Canadian PR. Can you please let me know if an "Medical Advisor" profile exists in Canada too and the prospective job market for that role? If Yes, can you please advise if she needs to become a licensed doctor in Canada even if she does not plan to practice and only work as an "Medical Advisor"?
    Your inputs would help! Thanks!
