Nick does the best synth demos of all synthtubers. He is very talented with coming up with beautiful melodies on the fly, not just random twisting. He feels it, Nick is the best.
With that Drumbrute pattern I'm getting a Mandalorian theme tune sort of feel. Love it! Just bought a Solar 50, can't wait to get home from working away to get stuck in with it! Also brilliant to see what you have built since those early Gas Station days Nick! Your vids are always a highlight! 😁
What a perfect example of how restrictions enhance creativity! Those single notes on the right, stacked 5 octaves high, run through the NightSky, do NOT sound like saw waves at all any more. The choice of chords is magic as well. I know it's a simple I-IV-V, but the inversions are forced by the synth, which is part of my point. This piece is mesmeric. And so very highly specific to these three pieces of kit. The IMPACT is probably the most replaceable of the three. The other two are a match made in heaven.
@@stinkypete9070 Just the receipt. I did ask them after a month how's my order and that's when they told me that my order is coming around December. There was like 8 synths left on the first batch when I ordered, so I'll be like one of the last ones to get it. If you have any doubts or worries, just mail them. They answer your questions.
@@badfreddytube Lazy comparison? Well, I'm very familiar with Cluster and Eno. Have you heard With Teeth? Maybe Ghosts? If you think this is a lazy comparison I was actually referencing to 1) The distortion of the drum beat which is usually achieved by overloading the filter (more in a MS20 like way) 2) The textures that are built with long releases and reverbs that seem to be in a completely different space then the rest of the mix and, most importantly 3) The harmonies that usually don't "reveal" the third until the last part of the melodic construction, leaving some ambiguity with dissonant notes just to reveal that it is major, although in a different mode (not ionian). Those are very characteristic things from NIN which Nick also did in this example. Now, please, enlighten me with your knowledge of how this sounds like Cluster and Eno.
@@HashMagician Well, it is the sound that a filter makes when the input is higher then what was expected. Overdriving the filter distorts the sound in a particular way depending on the design and type of filter.
So cool. I ordered one of these a while ago. It just shipped, so really looking forward to getting into it. Looks like so much fun (well, not the tuning bit).
@@tohellandbacknoface4091 I haven't made any music in a year. I have a filter sweep for last year's "February Filter Sweep" on my channel, but I haven't recorded anything in a while. I need to get out of the slump.

very inspiring, thank you - be great if they'd added a stereo spring reverb with some feedback possibilities, or some BBD circuitry as onboard effects. - still a really interesting instrument, a little too costly for me, - but I can imagine experimental composers finding it very useful. love to ALL, feel no hate

yea this is true the guys a dope musician
Wow! I always enjoy your Fridays jams but this one is specially AMAZING
Hahaha,amazing?
That Solar 50 is really something else. I don't think I've ever seen a synth before which is so explicitly _not_ to be used for anything traditional.
Uhh, well basically anything from SOMA laboratories.
Buchla, serge, ciat lombarde, bug Brand, soma, long list....

I could hear this kind of tune all day long.
Wow, that's one of your best Friday Fun jams. Definitely gonna listen to that one again.
Of course Nick can make a Drumbrute sound this good \m/
great...one of the best Solar 50 videos
Yeah, I need a Solar 50 in my life!
I like the industrial vibe you got out of that drum machine. Well done.
Bravo, Nick! Amazing what you can do with 3 synced machines... a knob tweaker’s paradise.
Imagine the pulsar and the solar together :)
Nice Jam and that Solar 50 is really cool. When i saw it i thought it was just a "Lyra-8 Variant" but now i see its potential.
Please evolve this into a single, I will buy it!
Ps- and you can call it “Dodgy Tuning” :D
LOL!
I second this! Really! Don't care what you call it, just release it! ... but "Dodgy Tuning" is funny :)
PS I bought the "Odyssey 2 step" and listen to it weekly.
Great composition Nick!
Sounds awesome
This is amazing! I'm on a waiting list for Solar 50 and will be getting it during December. I just can't wait!
Random question - did you get anything confirming order with elta? I paid for it and got nothing besides a paypal receipt, nothing more.

the real question is: will nick join the nine inch nails?
That's sad to see such a lazy comparison. This goes way back into Cluster and Eno.

Thanks for the inspiration as always:)
Couldn't understand how to sync this synth to another gear. But sounds amazing!
Sounds like an Eno/Lanois/U2 studio experiment from the Joshua Tree sessions! Very cool.
Has a bit of a vibe of those buskers you see with didge, drums and hangdrum - esp the opening few bars!
very inspiring, thank you

Ah the Behringer Bumdrute Impact.....
Briljant!
That hit the spot Monsieur Batt! Must be those Russian D-Beams!!!!!
It’s Friday already?!
Nice one
Nick's noodles make a Friday lunchtime....nice! (a la Jazz Club's Louis Balfour)
killer.
Sublime
That orange cable on the left hurts my OCD 😂. I'm I the only one? Nice sounds Nick
Thanks Nick! I'm inspired to create something similar on my cheap gear. Microfreak and Volca Drum with Nts-1 effects.
They should work nicely
“Drumbrute night solar 50 sky?”
cool
So good! Do you connect with this or the Lyra more?
Are we having fun yet ?
Nice sounds as always. Mk2 of this? hope it goes well for them :)
The DrumBrute Impact sounds quite nice provided you don't use the Hats which sound just so bad.
Agreed. I like mine a lot, very intuitive to use, very hands on. But I don't like the hats either.
@@2112jonr Wished someone did a mod to make them more palatable, something close to TR-606 hats and cymbal, the cowbell also sounds ridiculously out of place.
Does using the hats out defeat the main out hats? You could at least filter them that way.
Dumb question when the Arturia site has the information fairly well laid out.
Nice video ❤how do you sync them?
There are very few instruments as odd as that that I'd be so happy to instantly get rid of. Good video though!
Didn't the Drumbrute used to teach geography?
hi mate can you do solar 42 with digitakt please
How did he use the Brute to FM the Solar?
I dont see any patches so is it a special input on the Solar that allows it?
what could possibly offend in this video to warrent a thumbs down?
It’s too short?

I know you from somewhere.
...but you can't buy one anywhere
