TIDRADIO Wireless Programmer - Review and firmware upgrade.

- This is a quick overview of the TIDRADIO Wireless Programmer. I go through some of the main features of the ODMaster software and program a Baofeng UV-5R and a Quansheng UV-K5(8).
When programming the UV-K5(8) we run into a read error. This is a known issue that is fixed with updated firmware from TIDRADIO. We then go through the process of updating the firmware on the device with an android phone.
The ODMaster software in the video does not require you to create an account in order to read/program your radio. Although if you don't have an account you cannot store your radio configurations, use the social features or access the repeater finder abilities etc.
UPDATE: TIDRADIO just sent me this information about their new web based ODMaster.
--New features are online - you can import and export files (including CHIRP files) on the ODmaster web. No need to fill in the data one by one as before.

All you need is a laptop and mobile phone, that you can write and read your radio anytime and anywhere. That is, if you make changes on ODmaster web, those sync to the mobile app as well.

Thanks for the very informative video. I have a question about programming the very popular Baofeng UV-5. Does the Odmaster App provide access to the and for the UV-5 ? This is in order to expand the VHF receive frequencies to cover the 222MHz ham band. I would buy one of these programmers in a heart beat if it did.

From what I could tell in the ODMaster software on my phone, I did not see the option for setting the transmit range.

Great Question! I should have shown the manufacturer and radio selection screens in more detail. At the time of writing this reply, they have a picture of the supported radios on the product listing. How are you capturing your phone?
Using screen capture on either device, and then just sync the capture with the main video. :) My editor does a fantastic job! :)

There are flaws with the wireless programmer if you program the Radio through The oem brand computer software or even through chirp. If you decide to use the Bluetooth dongle To make a Quick Change it reverts all Settings back to factory even When your just pushing a Quick update like a frequency change or A repeater Change 1:10 @Never Without Knowledge
That is something to keep an eye on. I will experiment some to try to recreate this. I'm assuming this may be avoided by downloading the radio contents to ODMaster first, making the desired change and then uploading again.
@@KC4NWK I have tried that it still factory resets the radio setting its a weird flaw I have found
Shocking not encrypted 😢😢😢
From what I could see in my packet capture taken from my iPhone, the username and password IS now encrypted through https when talking with their server. The original concern was discussed quite a while ago in a video by a different youtuber.
