  • I recently received the infamous C28 error code on my 2007 GSXR 750. From what I have read on the 06-07 Gsxr it is rare for the STVA to go bad so it could either be the ECU or wire harness. Here is a video off the step by step check. I am hoping someone can give me a hand in fixing this error code.

i replaced mine and have the same issue first, the only reason i replaced it the 1st time is i broke it swapping the motor, used the good one from mine, then ran into this issue, replaced it again and still the same issue, no clue what's going on

You have the secondary TPS wire plugged into your gas pump plug (just switch them). TIP: use a black and silver Sharpie pen to mark each and every plug when you take stuff apart. FWIW, I had made the exact same mistake with the exact same weird butterfly action as in your video :)

...or at the very least you need to plug the white three prong plug that is shown in the bottom left of your video into the similar plug coming from your STPS.

Paul Devlin, I haven't been on here in a while. I fixed the problem but good catch you were right, I did have my harness connected to my fuel pump. My STVA was also bad. Had to replace the whole secondary throttle. Thanks

Hey when did this start happening? mine is doing the same exact thing... i replaced the electrical harness because i thought there was a wire shorting out in the harness due to blown stators... after putting the new wire harness on i realized it wasn't the right harness... they sold me an aussie harness : \ but anyways took the aussie harness off and put the new one back on. when i turned on the bike it did the same exact thing as yours is doing... been working on this for 2 months now. have you found any more information or fixed it?? Please help! haha

BJ M, sorry to hear. It's been a long time so I hope you have figured this out by now. But it turned out my stva was bad. Had to replace the whole thing.

I had the same problem on a 07 gsxr 750.After rewiring the bike cause of an unrelated problem. After watching this video and reading the comments i found my problem. the STP sensor and fuel pump have the same plug on the end and i got them crossed up. i swapped them around and the bike runs just fine.

I replaced the stva it's doing the same thing the old one was doing it opens up then closes back up and the bike won't go passed 6K RPM

Yor problem is with the STPS. The sensor has a static circuit and a dynamic circuit. If it gets shorted internally, the ECU just sees the STVA moving crazy and thinks it's faulty. You need to test the STPS. And the instructions you're following (which I wrote), don't cover that test. I have them if you need them.

The images in the instructions were taken from an 05 600. It's possible that the pin out of the STVA connector has changed. If it worked this way before, I would suspect it is fine as long as the pairing is correct.

Charles Crabtree, someone gave me the same suggestion. Checking the STPS literally narrowed it down to the STVA. All the voltage readings from the ECU to wire harness to STPS were spot on to your instructions (which were a HUGE help). The only reading I got different was for the STVA, which I attributed it to being a harbor freight multimeter. Turns out the multimeter was fine and the STVA was actually bad. Thanks for the help

@@RobGnote was it hard to take out the throttle body? or were you able to just replace the stva?

hey charles my stps connector receives just 0.3v on one wire on other it reads 5v which is normal.Resistance of stps is fixed no matter how much is it close or open. Can it be ECU is bad?
