- Hampi 19 Achyutaraya Temple Bazzar ಅಚ್ಯುತರಾಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ Courtesans Street Pushkarani UNESCO world Heritage site Hampi Tourism, Bellary Tourism, Karnataka tourism, temples of Karnataka, ancient temples India, ancient Indian Architecture. The main idol worshiped in the Achyuta Raya Temple is Lord Tiruvengalanatha which is another form of Vishnu. The temple dedicated to Lord Tiruvengalanatha, a form of Vishnu , was constructed by a high officer in Achyuta Raya's court and hence the name.Achyuta Deva Raya (1529-1542 CE) was a ruler of a Vijayanagara Empire of South India. He was the younger brother of Krishna Deva Raya, whom he succeeded in 1529. The Achyuta Raya Temple is in Hampi. It was built in 1534 AD. It is one of the major, splendid and awe-inspiring temples of Hampi located between the Matanga hills and Gandhamadana. This magnificent temple depicts Vijayanagara architecture style of temples in its best and most improved form. The main shrine is located at the centre of two rectangular concentric courtyards. The inner sides of both the courtyard walls are lined with a cloisters or pillared verandah. The outer cloisters are mostly in ruins with the pillars scattered randomly along the wall base. Two huge ruined towers, one behind the other, give access to the temple courtyards.
On heading straight to the inner court you can spot a chamber facing the porch to the central hall. This tiny shrine chamber once enshrined an idol of Garuda, the eagle god and mount of the principal deity. The open hall just ahead spots some of the finest carved pillars in Hampi. On either side of the porch the pillars spot lion faced rampant Yalis standing on elephants. The armed soldiers riding the Yalis hold the chains hanging from the beast's mouth. The whole theme is carved on monolithic block of rocks. Two club-holding giant doorway guard deities stand on either side of the door to the inner sanctorum. This sanctum with the circumambulatory corridor around it is empty and dark. Though harmless the noisy bats hanging inside the dark corners can scare an unsuspecting visitor.
The Achyuta Raya temple got built during the rule of Achyuta Deva Raya, who was one of the emperors of the Vijayanagara Empire. He came to power by succeeding his elder brother Krishna Deva Raya in the year 1529.
The stunning and heavenly temple is devoted to Lord Tiruvengalanatha; he is a configuration of Lord Vishnu. Thus, this temple was initially known as Tiruvengalanatha Temple. However, later on, it came to be called after the king in whose reign it was built. Hence, it became widely known as the Achyuta Raya temple.

I love hindu temple, great 🇮🇳 induesam
Sudeesh is enlightening and educating people of the past history. One should be thankful to him for his fine efforts. There are dislikes here and that is tragic. Can’t people even appreciate good efforts when one is teaching ?
Sir please capture also ujjini marula siddeshwar mata which linked to Hampi history. That was historical location. Located at near to hospete or kottoru. Place name "ujjini"
Your Hampi series is wonderful. Mr Manjunaths knowledge and experience is too good.
I had visited first time Hampi in 1988 when I was a Manager of a bank in Hospet. One Sunday I took a scooter and went on my own. That time there was no Indian tourists except the locals. Hospet that time was a major village with no proper eateries also.I again visited in 2010 with a guide in car while staying in Hotel Mallige. I am keenly watching all your vlogs they are really intriguing. I am a Telugu person but very well versed in Kannada.
Your Mysore palace series, Srirangapatana, chitradurga etc all are competing with one another. But Hampi series is the best till now.

Mr.Manjunath Gowda Congratulations and Thanks a lot. This temple is the most elegant though in ruins. This I found to be the best video of the series.👍

Glad you liked it
Your hampi series is just superb.
Sudeesh Sir, amazing visuals. This episode is simply quite different than the other Hampi videos by you. The camera work is simply outstanding. You documented all features with so much patience. I think you didn't add much music due to Guide explaining the temple features.
If you remember, several months ago, I have requested you to have a final closing thoughts by you in each place you visit that leaves us all with spiritual, emotional and thought provoking insights. Please do that in your last video of Hampi.
Thanks from Jeddah! We are all stuck here due to No Flights but your videos are exporting us to India and our beloved Karnataka! Thanks a lot!
