I got my copy yesterday down under here in Australia and love this game already! Played a few solo games with the Tull Au Toma working terrifically well, often feeling like a real opponent. I then played with a friend who got the gist of the game very quickly when acknowledging hand management similarities from Libertalia and he managed to chain together some cool endgame victory point combos using Reds and Golds and the Sovereign Token. He also maxed out his Fleet track! Lots of fun and also the foil gold on the cards and the metal resources are topnotch 🤩 Well done to you, Alex and everyone involved in the game Jamey 😎
Well, I just watched this, yet taught it a few days ago... Good news! I taught it well and pretty close to what Jamey described. I try to mention theme a little to start and then go right into the goal (get points/how you win) and pretty much right down the steps Jamey laid out. Thanks Jamey, great game!
I love the cat! Always puts a smile on my face when I see it doing cat stuff in the background or doing cat stuff and insisting not to be in the background. And we all know: The Internet was invented to share pictures and videos of cats, so kudos for keeping the spirit up :)
Fantastic video Jamie much appreciated. Not many game designers/publishers put out videos like this. One of the many reasons I love Stonemaier Games so much. But I have to say, as good as this video was, and as many others have noted, Walter stole the show! I have to admit I got distracted multiple times watching him, had to rewind realizing I didn’t hear what you said. And I absolutely loved it. It made the video more enjoyable and entertaining. I was smiling the entire time… Thanks again!
I know - I was surprised to get the dispatch email but it arrived and has already been played. Fingers crossed that yours arrives soon! Oh and it’s a great game!
I notice that you don't explain the general powers of each caste, such as the blue's ability to manipulate the fleet track. Is this done to avoid information overload? I wonder if my gaming group in particular would have more questions throughout the first game if I avoided this explanation, but I definitely see the benefit of letting them explore and learn the cards on their own.
Yeah, I think that would be quite a bit of information overload. I do try to mention a few turns into the game that if they're looking for a certain character, Oranges can be used instead (to ease the anxiety of not finding a specific character in that big deck).
@@jameystegmaier I was going to add that it is probably worth it to say that each color/caste has a theme of abilities, which players will start to pick up over time, but not worth going into at the start. I did see a lot of comments to early videos that it seems hard to find combos at low player counts - the orange and grey abilities are a great counter to that, but that was rarely mentioned in how-to-play or reviews - so its probably important to say that pretty quickly! It may also be helpful to say there are the same of each color but 3x as many gold.
Why no deluxe version like the pre-order for foreign language? I must have a French version to be able to find players but I also wish I could order the deluxe version
Our localization partners had the option to make the Collector's Edition, but most of them decided not to. However, you will have access to an upgrade pack through our webstore if you want some of the fancy components.
Having just finished book 3, I'm hanging out for my replacement copy to play! (was sent the retail version in error - but SM have been fantastic, identifying the error before it even arrived, and promptly organising the replacement). Would it be worth mentioning a typical score? Target minimum = x, decent score = y, really good score = z? They might have some weak combos, believing them to make a decent score, and not risk leading with any to scoop up something better.
Thanks for your patience, Luke. On page 7 in the rulebook we mention that a great final score is 300+, though that depends on how long the players let the game continue.
Just got Red Rising in the mail, love that you make these videos to help in teaching. Also, is it me or did you lose some weight? Anyways, thanks for all the great content and games!
We're still estimating early April. I'm hoping the freight shipment will arrive at port tomorrow, but then it still needs to get to the fulfillment center in Toronto.
I want to learn how to play... but I'm distracted by the prowl happening in the background...

Thanks for the teaching advice. I can't wait to receive my copy in a few weeks!
Your cat made me smile ☺
Also, great video on how to teach the game.

Thanks for the teaching tips. Really useful 👌 the production quality is awesome. Colours so vibrant 👍
Received mine today! This game is so clever. Solo mode is awesome and easy to learn. Beat level 4 with 219 points

I knew Walter was back there, but I don't think I realized until now just how active he was. :)

Thank you, Steve! Ha ha...yeah, Walter got some good screen time in this video. :)
Mine’s arriving in the next two hours so v.excited!
I thought they were releasing in early April? I want mine today too! Ha ha

I pre-ordered first thing myself but haven't seen the email. Jealous.
Can you make a video to teach us how to get it faster ;) Can't wait for my preorder to arrive :)
Your cat is the star of this video! Such a cutie!
Can't wait for my preorder copy to be shipped! I tried to pay attention to this tutorial, but then an adorable cat happened. :P

Great video Jamey! If I wanted to get the collectors edition, is it possible without the pre order?
Directly from us, yes--we plan to keep it in stock. But not from retailers. They'll have the standard version.
Can't wait for my copy to arrive! In the meantime, anyone know if this is on Tabletop Simulator?
It's on Tabletopia.

Thanks Sam! I’ve been around the same weight for the last 2 years, ever since I switched to a vegetarian diet and daily exercise. I feel great! :)
That last panel with the player bending the card just makes me cringe lol
So pump to play this!!
Do you have an idea when the order in canada will be deliver???

@@jameystegmaier nice!!!
And thank you for always answering that fast
