Gotcha. Yeah when I tried to jam the G1 in there it was going to be really tight so I just stuck with the stock ESC in mine. Let me know when you get it fitted!
@@tktk-om8cg I think you can get some 4074 motors on Amazon that have a low enough KV to be compatible with 8S. Might want to check on there. Otherwise you'll really need to get a reverse mount in order to put anything larger on there.
@@tktk-om8cg In that case you may want to check out the G2 Max 8 system. It is quite a bit more powerful than stock and you may find that you don't actually need to run 8S with it to get the power you want.

This would be a good fit for the max though I would just maybe just getting the ESC and leaving the stock motor. Unless you're planning on running 6s the stock motor works just fine and going to a larger diameter motor limits the ability for the motor mount to slide back and forth which will decrease the number of gear combinations you can use. as a newbie in the rc world, i have been riding my JLB cheetah 120 amp for 2 years now and that thing has been costly in repairs. so i wanted to find a new toy and was doubting between this sledge or an arma kraton. so far from whatever ive seen sledge is pricey and needs many upgrades, so i thought maybe im better off getting arma roller and put these kinds of electronics in it? what are your thoughts on this? been looking at arma kraton, sledge or outcast, i rlly dislike traxxas way of bussiness with their battery etc but in the end a guy wants worth for the money so im rlly having a hard time deciding what to get >.
Don't think you would be disappointed with either vehicle. The Sledge really is a good truck out of the box. It's one of the more durable out of the box vehicles I've ever owned. It does not need a ton of upgrades to be fun. I say just get whichever one you think looks like the most fun to you and you will probably be happy either way.
I don't think it's going to fit in the stock chassis because the sensor wire is going to get in the way. It should be fine with the m2c chassis though. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
@@DoRC oh I wrote it new, few minutes ago but it's deleted again although I have written "dot" instead of "." Third try: 1) mount the ESC 180degrees twisted and put the sensorcable through the mainshaft (be aware that the cable don't touch the shaft) 2) mount the ESC normal and cut out a little bit of the tray 3) use an alternitive ESC mount from the accessories trade
I might mess with it. Honestly for me the punch feels like plenty and the more you increase the punch the more stress you put on the drivetrain so I usually like to err on the side of keeping it a little bit lower. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!
@DSCracing1320 the lag you were seeing was actually my receiver Browning out. The radio link receivers have a tendency to Brown out and my capacitor that I put on all of them to eliminate it came off when I was installing everything. I didn't really realize what was going on because I was filming at the same time as bashing and that's always very distracting.
for the price, traxxas should of included a system as good as this. if mike jenkins didn’t need to own 30 mansions, and 50 cars, they could of done it. 🤦🏻🤦🏻
Maybe. I've never really had much trouble with the Traxxas systems and to be fair a truggy that can do a standing backflip is already pretty powerful :-) that being said this is definitely an upgrade!
The combo isn't readily available anywhere right now. I bought my two pieces individually from garage life rc. They seem to be the only ones that I could find that had the motor. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
Great video...and, (almost) anything had to be better than a stock Traxxas ESC & motor (in (almost) any Traxxas vehicle. The only thing I'm not liking is the proprietary sensor cable. It seems that Hobbywing is, more and more, switching to this. Soon, it could be that only Hobbywing ESCs will be able to connect to Hobbywing motors, and vice-versa. Now...for a "comparison suggestion". How about doing a head-to-head of this ESC/motor combo against the Castle Mamba Monster 2 ESC/1515-2200Kv Motor combo (CSE010-0108-03), both in the Sledge? Compare power, speed, driveability, temps, etc. I'm figuring these are probably the top two almost-ready-to-install "packaged ESC/motor combos" (ie. both have motors w/ ESC connectors ready to plug in), so it's logical to pit them against each other.
There is an adapter cable available to run any sensored motor. That would be a decent comparison. I may do that in the future. I will say I've had that combo in the past and it is a pretty powerful one. Not sure if it's going to quite match up to this though especially in terms of features for cost. Thanks for watching!
I have both the Max 8 2250 combo and the Mamba Monster 2 1515 2200 in my EXB Kraton and My RTR BLX Kraton and the hobbywing max 8 mops the floor with the 1515 monster 2. I wish I would have gotten the max 8 G2 combo for both Kratons. I'm also using no fan on my hobbywing 4278 motor. it doesn't need it.
@@DoRC It is, let's hope hobbywing keeps on with this trend. I have spent so much money on castle systems that it makes me cringe thinking something can go up in flames at anytime. It has already happened twice. That is why I was so excited when the Max 8 G2 came out with all the insane specs for the money. I wasn't disappointed. I'm going to buy 4 more. Its also a beast on 4s when running on a short course truck on the race track. To bad its not legal for sanctioned races. Well the motor ain't. I wish hobbywing would make a sensored 1900kv race spec motor for the max 8 g2 line.
Other than the problems they initially had with the xlx2 I don't think Castle is inherently any more likely to go up in flames than any other brand. I think that in practice they may experience more failures that we see simply because a lot of the top speed guys run castle and when stuff gets pushed to its absolute limit it's going to be more likely to experience a failure.
Which one? I know the three that I've used maxed out at 8 volts. That being said I haven't used all of them. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
Ah. Yes that one looks like it's the exception and does have a higher Bec output. All the other ones as far as I know are 8 volt. It's possible that the latest and greatest ones that they come out with are higher but I haven't messed with those.

@@DoRC ok :) Yeah, looks total overkill lol, but I'm Sensible with my Tekno's... This is just for fun. Have all the m2c parts to hold her together.. might change to the XL\Krojave so not quite as front lifty :P
I've heard a lot of people like that combination.
What are your controller settings? Did you fully lock the center differential?
I'm not running the stock rx/tx but everything's pretty much standard and default. Not fully locked center differential but I did stick a bit at your plug in there to supplement what was already in there when I got it. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
Which rx/tx and what the settings
I'm using a radio link rc4gs with radio link 6 channel receiver. What settings are you looking for?
I want to do backflips like you too
The truck will do standing backflips on concrete with the stock system and good enough batteries. No need to change anything.
What you're seeing in the video is primarily due to the upgraded power system.
What punch level you have set in this video, the old max 8 only went to five and the new g2 goes to ten
In that video it was set at the default but I since pumped it up to I think seven. It was a little sluggish at the default punch. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
@@DoRC OK thanks, just hit that sub button 👌
@@jrollj thanks!
how much does the sledge weigh??
Not sure but all the specifications should be on the Traxxas website
Love the new max 8 just hate that you have it in a frigging traxxas pos
The sledge is actually a good car. This is of course separate from Traxxas business practices which haven't been great as of late.
I just ordered this setup for my sledge, I do off-road/bashing on 6s and curious of what gearing I should run, any help is appreciated!
I would start with stock and see how it goes from there. I ran stock on mine and was pretty happy with it
Great vid..yeah this should be good for the Radix 4.

I think it'll make it scream :-)

Nice, which bumper is that in front?
Slash. I have a video on installing it. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated!
What is I am not using the sensored wire will my brusheless still work?
Yes. It will work just fine in sensorless mode just like if it didn't have the feature. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
Of course I'm having issue fitting my G2 motor and esc into my Savage X v2, so frustrated lol
What kind of problems?
If you aren't ready to subscribed a sub is appreciated!
@@DoRC Been subbed a min now. The Savage is just different. The space for esc and motor mount are measured to stock exact. I've squeezed the motor clamps on bottom but tops won't screw on so I gotta get a mount and the esc square space for esc is causing the sensor wire to block it dropping down so I have that too
Gotcha. Yeah when I tried to jam the G1 in there it was going to be really tight so I just stuck with the stock ESC in mine. Let me know when you get it fitted!
Cool kid right here 👉 😎 👈
For sure!

Are you subbed?
Can I just buy the motor ?
Or would I need to buy the other thing too ?
You can buy just the motor but you wouldn't get the full benefit from it.

Or you just replace those 2 parts and I will get all the benefits ?

Will motor handle 8s
Technically no but you might be able to get away with it as long as you don't over rev it
@DoRC I had my stock sledge motor on 8s but it just went out so I'm looking for replacement that will fit stock motor mount
@@tktk-om8cg I think you can get some 4074 motors on Amazon that have a low enough KV to be compatible with 8S. Might want to check on there.
Otherwise you'll really need to get a reverse mount in order to put anything larger on there.
@@DoRC really appreciate your opinion, and I'm trying to keep it as close to stock looking as I can, but thanks
@@tktk-om8cg In that case you may want to check out the G2 Max 8 system. It is quite a bit more powerful than stock and you may find that you don't actually need to run 8S with it to get the power you want.
Did you gain any power or torque ?
Yes this combination is quite a bit more powerful than the stock one. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated! Check out my latest video I'm doing a giveaway :-)
Would this system be a good fit for the maxx? Just subscribed 😄
Thanks for subbing!
as a newbie in the rc world, i have been riding my JLB cheetah 120 amp for 2 years now and that thing has been costly in repairs.
so i wanted to find a new toy and was doubting between this sledge or an arma kraton.
so far from whatever ive seen sledge is pricey and needs many upgrades, so i thought maybe im better off getting arma roller and put these kinds of electronics in it?
what are your thoughts on this?
been looking at arma kraton, sledge or outcast, i rlly dislike traxxas way of bussiness with their battery etc but in the end a guy wants worth for the money so im rlly having a hard time deciding what to get >.
Will this system fit in that tekno mt410?
I don't think it's going to fit in the stock chassis because the sensor wire is going to get in the way. It should be fine with the m2c chassis though. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
@@GeckoRC yeah unfortunately UA-cam does not allow linking in comments.
@@DoRC oh I wrote it new, few minutes ago but it's deleted again although I have written "dot" instead of "."
Third try:
1) mount the ESC 180degrees twisted and put the sensorcable through the mainshaft (be aware that the cable don't touch the shaft)
2) mount the ESC normal and cut out a little bit of the tray
3) use an alternitive ESC mount from the accessories trade
The length of the motor is fitting in any case... even if VERY close :)
@@GeckoRC good!
Punch looks like u need to bump it up 1 or 2. It'll take away to small it of lag / delay apon initial acceleration
I might mess with it. Honestly for me the punch feels like plenty and the more you increase the punch the more stress you put on the drivetrain so I usually like to err on the side of keeping it a little bit lower. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!
@Do RC it more about air control really. With the lag you can't correct fast enough. But u do u
What gearing are you running with this setup?
Stock 13/52.
Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is greatly appreciated :-)
for the price, traxxas should of included a system as good as this. if mike jenkins didn’t need to own 30 mansions, and 50 cars, they could of done it. 🤦🏻🤦🏻
Maybe. I've never really had much trouble with the Traxxas systems and to be fair a truggy that can do a standing backflip is already pretty powerful :-) that being said this is definitely an upgrade!
Having problems finding this combo
Were can i get one ??
By the way excellent video !!!
The combo isn't readily available anywhere right now. I bought my two pieces individually from garage life rc. They seem to be the only ones that I could find that had the motor.

Garage life RC has the combo available now. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated!
The max 8 G2 definitely is a step up from the max 8!
My castle has 8.5v bec
Which one? I know the three that I've used maxed out at 8 volts. That being said I haven't used all of them. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)

I've never really had that much bad luck with Traxxas electronics. Their servos are junk for the most part but everything else has been good for me.
I run Castle on a few things but I primarily run hobbywing and to be honest for a basher hobbywing really represents good value for money. This is especially true with this new system that they just came out with. It has essentially every feature that the castle system does plus a couple of advantages at a lower price. I've never run anything tekin because their stuff isn't waterproof and I like to be able to wash my trucks off. I've probably run 30 or more hobbywing systems over the years and Ive had really good luck with them.
