METALLICA is an awesome band, and to see all that they went through it surprises me that they are still here today, and they all overcame that and kept doing what they love and did best. METALLICA IS TRUE METAL, METALLICA IS LEGEND, METALLICA IS FOR LIFE

So they completely skipped Ride The Lighting and focus a whole part of the doc on Load, St Anger and that stupid therapy shit... I thought this was "When Metallica Ruled the World"... not "When Metallica fell apart and the music went to shit"..
Thank God Lulu wasn't released by the time this was made, then they'd probably put 15 minutes of that shit in there as well...

agreed, the entire 3rd section is about when they didn't " rule the world ". They ruled the world 82-93. As soon as they released Loaded, it was over.

    • @rubenick
      @rubenick 9 років тому +9

quazzie1 Yes? Hence why I stated that they waste this entire part and a bit of part 2 on Load and St. Anger...
Part 1 had a bit of Kill Em All and a bit of Master of Puppets but not a single thing about Ride the Lightning which arguably is their best album! At least that's my opinion!
Have *you* watched the other parts?

Jason seems like the coolest and most down to earth one of them all, thats why their band went to shit after he left lol, even if they didnt get along all the time, at least they had chemistry and made awesome songs, afterward they just kinda lost it

Great documentary........But 2 things: #1. I totally agree with Metallica on the Napster thing. They were having their music pretty much stolen from them. The girl at 2:15 said, "they make so much money" as an excuse. Really? So if someone has money, it's ok to steal from them? Are you serious? If those were your songs you had poured your heart into, you'd be singing a different tune. Stop being a mooching leach, stop your whining, and buy the music like everyone else........#2. I'm totally against the band for how they treated Jason. "He left the #@%*& band". YES he left the band, because you guys treated him like crap for a decade and a half. Most people (including myself) wouldn't have put up with it nearly that long. And don't give me that you were grieving as an excuse. AC/DC and Def Leppard both lost beloved band mates very tragically, but they didn't turn on the new guy like a pack of wolves. They embraced their new member and THAT was part of their healing. Even to this day, Lars is still a total jerk about Jason. Not saying Jason necessarily handled it perfectly, but the seeds for this whole mess were planted back in 1986 by James, Lars, and Kirk. If he had been treated like a human, I think they could've very possibly worked out things with Jason and his side project. Other bands have allowed that and done fine (Genesis/Phil Collins). It's just a shame to see things like this happen. Nevertheless, really enjoyable documentary and a good life lesson on how to treat others and realize me, myself, and I are not the center of the Universe.

Well when Dave went into rehab first time around megadeth were still fairly underground. And also the fact that he went in 17 times it might have become like "I'm gonna get clean!" "That's nice Dave now go make me a riff" the whole old news and shit.

Man, I love this comment! Been saying the same thing for a long, long time! Things change, people change! A band not changing is a band pretty much just bullshitting, when you grow older you change as a person, that just makes it necessary for your band to evolve as well. Got an eternal love for Metallica, all their albums and a deep respect for them still standing, still playing, and still rocking.

I watched parts 1 and 2, now I'm here on part 3. I watched up until 4:34 and hit pause to write this comment. I still love Metallica, but it's really too bad that James couldn't grasp the idea of Jason going out and doing some club dates w/ Echobrain while Metallica was idle wasn't going to hurt Metallica in any way. Now we have 3 members of Metallica and what I look at is a fill in bassist in Rob. I hope the day comes when Rob is gone and Jason refills his roll as bassist. Really hope.

Well, it's good that James' wife gave him that ultimatum. It showed she actually cares about him, not just being a rock star's wife and enjoying the lifestyle. If so, she would've just let him keep sliding down his self-destructive spiral. Sometimes the only one who can open your eyes to how much damage you're doing is your partner in everything, in life.

St. Anger wasn't like a Grammy chart topper. But it does show what they went through and some of the lyrics tell it. Hell yes. =P Metallica is one of the main influences I had to start writing my own music. And I'm just trying to be defensive toward st.Anger and other Metallica albums that are "crappy...I just hate people that are so narrow minded that they can't even appreciate bands and albums for going out on a limb and trying something new. Cause if I'm being honest, I don't like half the songs on St.Anger, but I still listen to them and respect the effort put forth into making them.

I love Metallica, and Load-St Anger I think are awesome. The image change and Napster were bad ideas, and while Lulu was an interesting concept, it didnt turn out well.

I feel sorry for cliff death and his family but also feel bad for Jason because he fulfilled that emptiness and sadness when the band most needed I think that they need to apologize to him before is too late and why not welcome him again to the band.
one more I doesn't hurt any body ( budget ) it actually helps more

JULIO BASULTO it's kinda hard to agree with that because they were merciless with Jason. They bashed on him, treating him like he was just trash. He was a punching bag, and Jason had just had just had enough of it.

They lost a lot of real fans after Load. And I was one of them...

what made it worse is that the shows sucked balls after the black album tour so even if you wanted to go to their shows and listen to the songs you do like you couldn't even do that since they sucked live after 1993

If you got lost after that, you were never really a "real fan" to begin with.

Love Metallica! If I were them, I wouldn't have the guts to start a new album after what happened during the album load.

I don't even, that has nothing to do with what I said, it was the people who were destroying their albums and stuff after the whole napster ordeal

yeah st anger wasnt the best album of them but when you consider what they had gone through the lyrics speaks of their lives.
