Rachael, You make me cry every time I hear you play Keith Emerson. You have no idea how much I loved that man and his piano skills. Nobody can do him justice like you do Rachael. Thank you so much for loving Keith Emerson's work.. He's my favorite Pianist of the 60's and 70's and until he passed away. What tragic shame, but I know exactly how he feels today..

I'm a musician and I learned all the songs in ELP's first songbook. But Rachel....I am speechless. She has captured the true sound of the music. That's all I can say right now.

So much of the time youtube only serves to destroy my faith in people. This is certainly not one of these times. Quite possibly the most redeeming thing I have seen or heard here, EVER. Truly inspired. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to watch this performance. Thank You!

One more thing that wonderful Rachel does is a gift to the musical community in general. By playing solo versions of Emerson's compositions she brings out the generic "compositional mechanics" of this mega genius of the rock era, offering to the younger generations of composers a rare glimpse into Keith's unique musical mind. I can't thank her enough for that joy!!
Bless you Rachel, you truly are wonderful!

Rachel has brought out essence of the music and its astonishing beauty. Classicizing ELP like this will do that, freeing it of 1970s theatrics and hysteria. It's been done for early Genesis as well (Genesis Piano Project, also here on YT). The fact that she did this by ear leaves me dumbfounded. The rest of us struggle for months or years over scores, until a piece is memorized and intuitive and sounds natural, as if we were born playing it.
The whole Prog movement from that era needs the treatment and to get the piano versions into the repertory. In that era, which I remember from when I was a kid and a young piano student, appearances were often deceiving.

I'm so happy for Keith that he found her and took her under his wing. At least through his person devastation with his contracture problem he realized he had a bit of legacy through Rachel. And I'm sure Rachel's life was so much more enriched because of this. could you imagine - to have Emerson's "Beast" sitting in your living room? And for him, to realize that it took a savant to play all that he had written?? Wow!
Rachel: Everyone loves you! And now you are a part of our lives in the way Keith had (and still) is.

I never thought I'd live to see the day. ELP's Tarkus is a masterpiece and one of my favorite albums. "There is no way anybody could ever interpret this music as well as ELP themselves." This arrangement is stunning! It left me weeping and gasping for air. Rachel, I've got to tell you that you are as good an argument for the existence of God as I ever heard. You've been touched, and now that you've shared this gift with the world... well, I just don't know what to say other than, Godbless you.

Rachel is a total genius. To perform something of such complexity so faultlessly - and with improvised parts where gaps needed filling - is talent from beyond the shores of the cosmic ocean. I SO wish she would tackle Genesis' The Cinema Show. She must be a fan, as there was a framed picture of their Trespass album cover on the wall above her keyboards (although she will never have seen it) in the electronic version of Tarkus also posted on YT. To my mind, Tony Banks' keyboard-dominated second half of that track is the greatest piece of rock keyboard ever committed to vinyl (which I want played at my funeral). It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, and I believe Rachel would do it full justice in the same way as she has with Tarkus. Please do this one, Rachel. PLEASE.

...I' m speechless about this gem called Rachel: ELP never played a mentionable roll in 70years of my German life until I discovered her a couple of days before. She knows to open ears and eyes to her own very special and wonderful cosmos of freedom, fantasy and joy...sadly her parents are living seperated...try to find music her parents played together in younger days, would like to find out from where the talent originates.I appreciate e.g. Jon Lord and specially his work after he left Deep Purple. My dream would be to hear Rachel playing on one of the fantastic pipe organs specially those historische ones you can find in English Cathedrals like Hereford or Gloucester! The musical Angel would open Heaven for us listeners. She is no 'blind Wunderkind', she is...a miracle, a person of toughness...her young words would be: pretty cool!

Seems everybody has already said everything that could be said, but I have to write something, If I wasn't watching it and hearing it I would not believe it !!! I think what Rachel is saying about the quotes has to do partly with this: there is a detachment from the Tarkus suite at the very end of 'Aquatarkus' before it reverts to the shorter version of 'Eruption' for the finale. It's an improvised variation of a small section of 'Karn Evil 9 2nd impression' (which would be her reference to 'Welcome Back') .. yet the way she ties it all together you would think it was composed just like that exactly, Jeez, what a talent !!! I guess the word mistake is not part of her vocabulary and she must think us "normal" musicians that have to learn and practice our parts are silly :) ... I haven't figured out the Spanish quote yet (and to think it's my native language ... lol ..) ... and now for something completely different: other comments indicate y'all know Keith, are you British? just curious

+Jeanie Flowers ... she had to be American, woo-hoot ! I am also American by birth, born in New York City, and by patriotism; even though both my parents are from Venezuela. I was raised as a child in Caracas, Venezuela and Mexico City, the latest where my sister had a successful career as one of Mexico's most famous night club singers. She also did movies and several recordings and a zillion TV appearances. My native language is Spanish. I am a professional guitar player mostly influenced by Santana, Clapton and Todd Rundgren and I try my luck at progressive music if it's not too difficult, but I have played a lot of Kansas and Rush and some King Crimson, Genesis, YES and Gentle Giant and a transcription of Keith Emerson's "Living Sin" doing the organ part on guitar. I actually taught myself Acoustic guitar by learning all of Greg Lake's songs and at one time I knew every single one. After that I got an electric and taught myself Rock improv and I was gone. My brother-in-law taught me a lot of tricks and shortcuts. He was one of the greatest Mexican Rock guitarists ever ... for the past 20-30 years me and my sister have played together as a duo or with many bands (she is a classically trained singer and Classical guitarist) more mellow music: Pop, Bossa-Nova, Country, Jazz and Mariachi ..... but now that I know she is a multi-instrumentalist (not just keyboards) she can do anything me and Gloria (my sis) can do together by just over-dubbing ... LOL ...one last favor for my curiosity: could you ask Rachel if my deduction was correct? that is if the quote from "Welcome Back" she mentions is that variation of "Karn Evil 9 2nd impression" at the end of "Aquatarkus" ? ... anyway, absolutely ANYTHING I can do to support Rachel, she has a devoted fan in me for life :)

and one last question, what part of USA are y'all from? I have lived in Southern California L.A. area, Central Florida and now live in Bergen County, New Jersey, about 30 minutes from the hospital where I was born. In California I went to the big outdoor festival "California Jam" in 1974 where ELP were the headliners (you may want to read an extensive review I did of that wonderful day on the youtube page that has the whole TV broadcast of ELP's performance) one of 2 times I saw them live, the other was the "Works" tour without the orchestra

I mentioned this on another of her pages, but since we are having a conversation here; How can she play music that difficult by memory and touch only ? since she can't be formally trained because of not being able to read charts .... really I don't think I have ever seen this level of musical talent in anybody ...... I'm sorry to hear about the burglary, some people just have no respect, but, regardless, the two of you are truly blessed. Again, please let me know anything I can do to help her get the fame and recognition she so greatly deserves

Brilliant playing. The transcription of the music for solo piano is impressive. Some of the subtleties in the piece are somehow richer that than the original for the synth parts.
Great work. Also happy to see such a young person carrying on the fantastic compositions of one of the most maligned musical genres and groups in contemporary music history. If someone doesn't have the attention span for something beyond a 3 minute pop song then it seems there is no grounds for criticism for a whole piece. I'm guessing these people don't appreciate classical works either.

I always thought Keith Emerson had a terrific ability to go from a frenzied state of odd time signatures at speed to a gentle flow of melody.....but the change Rachel makes at 2.20 is equal to, if not better.....!
