You know what? I don't get why people hate him. This isn't like a Mayweather situation where he is making the game worse. He's been constantly beaten down, but irregardless of that, he's an insanely good player. People who think that he won by "just spamming" don't know the first thing about fighting games. It took him a long time to beat JWong, and when he did, it was easy pickings.
People see zoning and think its just spamming. A lot of these players are not good at the game, don't understand the strategy behind anything thats not rushdown, or are just straight up looking for something to hate so thats what they picked. Zoning is playing on a little bit of a different axis than normal but it is not just spamming tons of bullshit. Maybe you can make the argument for low level play but thats the issue of players just being bad. Winning at a high level with zoning is hard. You need extreme consistency, still need good neutral, and be a very good player regardless. Thats not to say morrigan teams are the hardest to play on the contrary there are way harder characters to use because they are simply super weak. The point being at the end of the day zoning is not brain dead and people who say that it is imo don't get it.

Maybe at low level, online play, morrigan doom can just spam without challenge, but in most high level play, good players have a plan for Chris' playstyle. KBR's team is hardcountered by Chris, and even then once he got a single opening it could be game over. So when Chris is "spamming", he's doing so with the express knowledge that it is the safest thing to do at that time against that character, and he won't do it otherwise. Admittedly it's often the safest option so it happens a lot, but when a better opportunity presents itself, Chris capitalizes on it. So even by _your_ definition of "zoning", Chris is still zoning.

So yes he definitely had the power of bullshet in his team for real. It's just that Morrigan and Magneto serve as one of the best options against his team.
