This episode on CBP: with a silly grin to his plastic face, Dummieson starts explaining his plan.
“Here’s the deal: the stone head thingie seems to be an ancient kind of elder god… or something. However, it operates either with an electric plug OR 18726537236478962 AAA batteries, which were NOT provided.”
“Elder gods do NOT need batteries, sheriff…” - Marge replied, rolling her eyes.
“This was probably a pre-war sentry. Those, according to historians, were popular in rich peoples’ houses back then. They were designed to protect places with an assortment of weapons and other defense mechanisms, while still keeping the place they were installed in pretty.” - Capelli completed.
“Heck no. For ‘smart’ people, you can be really dense! The thing spoke to me… mostly called me names. It can only be an Elder god.”
“That is an AI module, it was made to troubleshoot issues with the equipment, as well as using verbal warning to trespassers. It probably saw you as a…” - Capelli tried to explain, before being interrupted by Dummieson.
“Well… I guess that’s how it starts, isn’t it? Before humans gave life to First Dummy Ivanovich somehow, dummies used to be just big dolls.”
Capelli thinks a bit.
“Then, if dummies were inanimate before, but then gained life… this thing could be like the sentient vehicles too. Depending on how advanced that AI module is, the darned thing would be no different from Genghis Car! Does it mean then that’s it’d be wrong of us to just use it as a weapon, since it has a will of its own, as well as intelligence? That’d be akin to kidnapping.”
That makes Dummieson think a bit, and then he freaked out.
“REEEEEEEEEE!” - said the sheriff, while putting his handcuffs on his own wrists. “Either you die a hero or you live enough to become the baddie...”
Facepalming hard, Capelli and Marge free Dummieson from his handcuffs, not by unlocking them, but by detaching his hands temporarily, sliding the cuffs off, then putting his hands back in place.
“Oh. So that’s how baddies escape handcuffs so easily!?” - the sheriff said, his dummy mind blown at that revelation.
“Don’t freak out, PLEASE. Let’s just turn that sentry on, see if its really sentient, thenwe’ll see what we can do, okay?” - Capelli suggests.
“Uhh… Sounds like a plan…”
