Why did Jesus speak of hell (or hellfire) over 20 times, and Paul, James, John, Jude and Peter etc never mentions it? Paul did mention hades once - bur says it has an end. Why was it ‘gentle Jesus meek and mild’ who threatened us with eternal torture? The answer is really simple …he didn’t !! The answer lies in the language they all spoke. Jesus spoke Aramaic/Hebrew. He used the word ‘she’owl’, simply meaning ‘the grave’. Check your Hebrew concordance. The writers of the gospels translated that into ‘hades’ in Greek - then into hell in English. The Greek word ‘hades’ has a different connotation - but it was NEVER what Jesus said. Jesus also used the word ‘gehenna’ - it was a well-known rubbish dump outside Jerusalem, which was perpetually burning and full of maggots. A good symbol of utter destruction. He is merciful and righteous, He is also just. He stands with His Word, He cannot lie. Why am I saying this? Because some people think God is so good that He’ll change His mind when it comes to judgement time. NOPE! If we died with sin in our heart, we are going to hell (and eventually the lake of fire) where it’s torture and torment for eternity. If we died in righteousness, God isn’t going to allow us to go to hell because of a sin we committed ages ago but asked for forgiveness for. He won’t change His mind because He can. I just really hope I can make a strong relationship with God. I feel like I sin and it’s so scary to not know where your going. Sahar Flemming Hell is an EVENT called the lake of fire. It is NOT a place, but an event. Once the fire has nothing more to consume, it goes out. There are many Bible verses that describe this event. Malachi says the ashes of the wicked will be under the feet of the saints. The lake of fire occurs after the 2nd resurrection of the damned and burns until the last living entity is consumed (like Satan, who will burn the longest). The Bible also tells us that each will be given the number of stripes deserved. Eternal fire is God’s fire. It is named so because God is a consuming fire. God does not torment and punish the wicked eternally. Only the saved are promised eternal life - not the damned. God wants sins and sinners eradicated from His universe forever. The hell fires and torment used to scare me. Now that I am older the most tragic part is the eternal separation from God. That is what is truly terrifying and scary. Whether you get destroyed completely or burn forever you will be eternally separated from God and will miss out on Heaven.

A mass murderer, child molester, Hitler, etc will not have the same punishment as a young man who dies driving drunk. He is JUST. Justice is lost in this country. But God will have mercy on some, and punish some, according to His holiness. For HOW LONG, is entirely up to Him. I’m sure after death, the punishment will fit the crime. I have never heard this description of hell that you have described. I know that in the book of Peter hell is refered as Tartarus. The Greek definition for this means "a subteranian place of divine and eternal punishment that is lower than Hades". The word subteranian means below the earth. The word eternal means forever. I dont claim to know everything at all about God's perfect word, but I will do more research on this view that is given in this video. I have always understood that when we are judged it's going to be an eternal judgment. If you aren't being punished for eternity what happens to you after you are scorched? Is that it? No more eternal suffering? Just doesn't make sense because the life after this one on Earth is your eternal being. I've never heard that you are burned up, turned to Ash and blown away with the wind. Dee Nice Gehenna is a place outside of Jerusalem where they would burn trash and dead bodies day and night. The bodies that were away from the fire to the side were eaten by the worms. Gehenna is the actual place it is often translated as hell in our bibles which can be misleading. I just watched a documentary about Hell in other channel and he mentioned that Hell is referred Hades in the Bible and it is not a purgatory. I think I'm gonna read my Bible and hope that I will be guided by God in understanding His words. Many teachings really right now that makes me question the other if they are really true. Most who read it get so confused they become frustrated or defeated trying to figure it out. This is because it isn't written to be physical understanding, but a spiritual walk through all creation from the beginning to the end of the world. And has many compound literary and symbolic meanings. The passage you pulled if written plainly would state this. Before Yeshua their judgment will commence and there will be no end to all the earth. This is a parable. I have never walked into a church and viewed Christians who took this literally and mutilated themselves. Gehenna was the cursed Valley of Hinnom. It was a warning to 1st century Jews that the temple was about to be destroyed. This is why neither John nor Paul ever mention Gehenna. Gentiles would not be in Jerusalem when the temple was destroyed and therefore could not relate to the concept.

One for the works/deeds which all mankind will go through, this is for your heavenly rewards/ losses.. and if you work is found to be “bad” it will be burned... Why did Jesus speak of hell (or hellfire) over 20 times, and Paul, James, John, Jude and Peter etc never mentions it? Paul did mention hades once - bur says it has an end.

The answer is really simple …he didn’t !!
The answer lies in the language they all spoke. Jesus spoke Aramaic/Hebrew. He used the word ‘she’owl’, simply meaning ‘the grave’. Check your Hebrew concordance. The writers of the gospels translated that into ‘hades’ in Greek - then into hell in English. The Greek word ‘hades’ has a different connotation - but it was NEVER what Jesus said.
Jesus also used the word ‘gehenna’ - it was a well-known rubbish dump outside Jerusalem, which was perpetually burning and full of maggots. A good symbol of utter destruction.
Why didn’t the apostles use this word? Because their gentile audience wouldn’t have a clue what it was.

He is merciful and righteous, He is also just. He stands with His Word, He cannot lie. Why am I saying this? Because some people think God is so good that He’ll change His mind when it comes to judgement time. NOPE! If we died with sin in our heart, we are going to hell (and eventually the lake of fire) where it’s torture and torment for eternity. If we died in righteousness, God isn’t going to allow us to go to hell because of a sin we committed ages ago but asked for forgiveness for. He won’t change His mind because He can. I have never heard this description of hell that you have described. I know that in the book of Peter hell is refered as Tartarus. The Greek definition for this means "a subteranian place of divine and eternal punishment that is lower than Hades". The word subteranian means below the earth. The word eternal means forever.
I dont claim to know everything at all about God's perfect word, but I will do more research on this view that is given in this video.
I have always understood that when we are judged it's going to be an eternal judgment. If you aren't being punished for eternity what happens to you after you are scorched? Is that it? No more eternal suffering? Just doesn't make sense because the life after this one on Earth is your eternal being. I've never heard that you are burned up, turned to Ash and blown away with the wind.

Here's the scenario:
There are two sinners. The first sinner lived and died1000 years ago and he went directly to hell after his death. Meanwhile, the other sinner died today and went to hell to be punished.
So does this mean that the first sinner who lived 1000 years ago has been tormenting/punishing in hell fire 1000 years earlier than the other?

Gehenna is the actual place it is often translated as hell in our bibles which can be misleading. I used to believe in an eternal hell but after studying scripture and humbling myself I understood this to be more faithful to the text

I just watched a documentary about Hell in other channel and he mentioned that Hell is referred Hades in the Bible and it is not a purgatory. I think I'm gonna read my Bible and hope that I will be guided by God in understanding His words. Many teachings really right now that makes me question the other if they are really true. Revelation 20 says God will use fire to destroy Gog and Magog, it says nothing about it being hellfire, or that hell is above us. He just goes on and on with lies... Sounds like the first death is physical death and second death (after judgment) is death in hell fire. This speaks of death (end of existence) in hell, not everlasting life in hell. I had a friend. She awaits Jesus in her grave. Teresa was her name.
We were talking and she said she awaited getting to Heaven and sitting at the feet of our Lord and praising Him.
I rather smartly told her I would reach down and pat her on the head because I would be sitting in His lap being comforted.
Later I saw her point. I believe the sense of peace, happiness, joy, fulfillment... name all the glorious and beautiful sensations you can think of, they will all be surpassed.
I will most happily join Teresa and all the rest of the believers at our Savior's feet.

If there is no eternal damnation, Can you please explain Rev 14:10-11 "the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the Lamb: and the smoke of their torment ascendant up forever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever received the mark of his name.". That's pretty clear to me that people will burn forever. that's why I stay on the narrow path brother and seek Him with all I have.

Revilations is not a straight forward easy understood book. Most who read it get so confused they become frustrated or defeated trying to figure it out. This is because it isn't written to be physical understanding, but a spiritual walk through all creation from the beginning to the end of the world. And has many compound literary and symbolic meanings.
The passage you pulled if written plainly would state this.
Before Yeshua their judgment will commence and there will be no end to all the earth. For all the earth will be consumed by it. And like the flood of Noah it will encompass and burn all things. In the day or sight of Yeshua, and even in the darkness where man tries to hide. And the fires of judgment will burn without ceasing until every evil of this earth is consumed. And there will be no return or salvation for this judgment because it will not be mixed with God's mercy.
Mark 9:43-44 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
This is a parable. I have never walked into a church and viewed Christians who took this literally and mutilated themselves.
Gehenna was the cursed Valley of Hinnom. It was a warning to 1st century Jews that the temple was about to be destroyed. This is why neither John nor Paul ever mention Gehenna. Gentiles would not be in Jerusalem when the temple was destroyed and therefore could not relate to the concept.
I agree if you take the mark of the beast you will drink of the cup of His indignation...full strength. And yes there is no ambiguity it says you will be tormented forever and ever with the devil and his angels.
This is why the Messiah made the sacrifice that was so great...He gave himself to spare mankind of the punishment that was intended for the devil and his angels.
