A big part of John wick is the hand to hand stuff and just generally close combat. The main reason I think Pistol Whip isn't a good Wick game. Pavlov also suffers from the lack of anything but stabbing. I think out of this list Hard Bullet is the best Wick game because of the environmental kills (something John does a lot) and complete grabbing of enemies.
Blade and sorcery with mods can be (in my personal opinion) better than hard bullet because the base game is focused on melee and the gun mod is Pavlov level of gunplay so not great but not bad.
hard bullet feels like the most wick game ever, it has a wick weapon selection and you can enable a setting to reload without having to put the mag back into the gun, and lowering it, allowing you to hold a knife and use a gun at the same time, this ruins reloading but opens a new "tactical" path that's super fun.
This is exactly right I'm really sick of people saying superhot is a fantastic John Wick game when that's not the kind of thing that it's going for, a John Wick game is you being a badass and running around doing cool moves on people, superhot is about dodging bullets and quickly and effectively taking out enemies
If you make a part 3 I definitely recommend Contractors. There are tons of melees, the guns are very intricate, and the gameplay is similar to Pavlov imo.
Gunman Contracts (Half Life Alyx Mod is the best John Wick experience) yes there is no Melee combat but it makes up for it being tight quarters enemies shoot back and best of all some of the scenes feel like they are pulled straight out of the movies because chapter 2 has the final shootout scene where John clears a art gallery and you do that in Gunman Contracts so if you want a VR John Wick Experience i would highly recommend it to try.
Blood Trail is *very* early access, which is probably why the compatibility is really rough... along with everything else. I regularly see enemies just freeze up and stop responding, so this game still needs a lot of work H3 just got an update for paired magazine reloads, allowing you to hold your previous magazine in your hand while loading the new one so you can retain it quickly and reduce motion. This is something we see him do a lot in the films, so you might consider trying it again if you're in the mood
0:49 Agreed, I never had problems with things flying around everywhere, even during my first match, because when I held down the button to hold guns I actually kept that button held down so it doesn't fall out of my hands, I don't understand how you found it so difficult, it's very easy to learn, the hardest thing about that game was in the tutorial because I didn't know I had to use trigger to chamber a round, that and needing to take the top off an LMG to reload

These are all pretty good, although it always comes back to Boneworks, the engine they use gives every object a sense of weight. In terms of guns, the guns that are in the game feel great although there is lack of shotguns and fewer guns than games such as Pavlov, Onward, Contractors and such. The hand-to-hand combat in Boneworks is aided by weight of weapons as well as enemies, making you really feel like you're there. Its movement still leaves room for improvement, but the climbing mechanic is similar to Blade but with more player weight. All and all Boneworks fits this idea very well, and if you apply modding, you could fight any enemy, with any gun of your choosing with the aforementioned mechanics, until another game like the up and coming Bonelab comes around or a contender to the Marrow engine, Boneworks will probably stay the best choice in terms of John Wick style games. But I'm not scrutinizing you as a creator, the video was great :D

14:25 You should have seen Onward 1.6 Reloaded. I played Downfall night and forgot night vision. It was so dark I ran straight into a wall of a building and didn't even know it. When you looked around It was just slightly different shades of black that was barely noticable. Never forgot night vision on that map after that experience lol. Also that update lasted like 2 weeks before they upped the lighting on every map.
I feel it would be neat to see you make a part 3 where maybe you go through some of the criticisms you received and had a relook with that new information.
Nowadays, hard bullet is less glitchy and clunky, and has explosives and you can make guns shoot objects that span as far as trash can lids and pencils to other guns and mini shovels

I was a bit upset by how many Superhot comments I saw on the first video. It's my favorite game, but I don't see how it feels like a John Wick experience to some people.
Personally, blood trail is by far the best vr game i have ever played. It is in very early access so putting it up against these big complete games such as pistol whip and super hot just isnt fair imo. I love it because the violence is super gory and reloading is simple easy to get a hold of. and they are in the works of a campaign and i hope it is as good as it sounds.. And im not saying all these other games are bad, because they are very much amazing because i have and play all of them. Its just blood trail can make you feel like and one you want to be. A cop, swat, John wick, and lots more. Its so versatile and just makes you feel free.
I was going through the same struggle of trying to find games in the same vein - and I did find one that was kind of unexpected. You'll have to hear me out on this one. Half-Life Alyx may not have melee combat (at least not yet, but I hope it's feasible one day) - but a mod for it titled Gunman Contracts takes aim at a John Wick style campaign and attempts to execute it with 100% original assets in-engine. There's a mini-firing range at the beginning to get you in the right headspace, before departing to take on the first Contract (Contract 2 is currently in dev). It is a little janky at times, and I had to install the Black Mesa Glock 17 mod to feel a bit more Wick-y - but if you're wanting the same vibe as the dance club shootout from the first film, or the Continental lobby firefight in 3 - this mod sort of scratches that itch. The mod author also made another mod that aims to resemble the last stand of the Continental hotel (the environments are almost 1:1 in appearance), which personally I haven't tried yet due to the enemies being Combine and not NY Gangsters like Gunman Contracts - but I'm sure it's just as enjoyable. Maybe try both of those, and see what you think! Even with some crowbar or fist mods, the grabbing or melee combat in Alyx is not good, and it's more of a tactical game than a "cool shoot man" game. Don't get me wrong, Half-Life is one of my favorite series, and Half-Life Alyx is my favorite VR game

I've been playing Pavlov for awhile now as well as some of the other games you've mentioned, and a huge part of "feeling like John Wick" is most definitely the hand-to-hand combat. Pavlov is great yes, but lacks combat like that and the physics for it's melee combat aren't really good at all, I mean you just put your knife in their vicinity and they drop, you also can't use fists or anything else. John also tends to use his environment as well which most games lack, but what I saw with Hard Bullet instantly made me wanna get it. The other games I won't even comment on as I don't see them fitting it anyways, Super Hot definitely could but it's more like the Matrix than anything. Even though you may not do another one of these videos, I'd also recommend Bonelab and Half Life Alyx (modded). Amazing video tho, and thank you for giving me a new game to play
For onward you kinda can’t pick the biggest map and expect aggressive plays. You gotta join comp lobbies with suburbia or cargo and that’s where you’re fast paced hot, aggressive, and constantly being flashed gameplay is

Yoo you forgot about stride. It has sliding, jumping, parkour, big jumps, enemies and guns. It is also very fast as you can do stuff like grapple to shooting someone in mid air. although the guns are only in one mode so far, the other modes are fast and they have cool action sequences.

For part one of Best VR John Wick Games a better thing of boneworks would be bonelab but, the only things are better mod support and a button to eject a mag from a pistol.
He mentioned it in the previous video. The issue with non-VR games on the Wick scale is the fact that a lot of the coolness is put into a canned animation. Those takedowns look nice, but the player's only contribution is pressing a button. That game definitely nails the aesthetic though.
Boneworks has got to be it for me, the physics enemies makes for sick hand to hand combat with guns, although the best melee combat has got to be blade and sorcery
I just recently found out about a game called blood and truth VR. It is probably the perfect or almost perfect John wick VR game. You can even spin guns. Sadly it is not on quest
You should try sports mode it is basically boneworks without story mode and you dont fight humans but rather robots. That game fixes some issues you had with boneworks like mag eject is there and its a hip holster

If you want the closest you can get to a John Wick game, it's not VR but Suit for Hire. It is literally the best John Wick game.
He mentioned it in the previous video. The issue with non-VR games on the Wick scale is the fact that a lot of the coolness is put into a canned animation. Those takedowns look nice, but the player's only contribution is pressing a button. That game definitely nails the aesthetic though.

Boneworks has got to be it for me, the physics enemies makes for sick hand to hand combat with guns, although the best melee combat has got to be blade and sorcery

I just recently found out about a game called blood and truth VR. It is probably the perfect or almost perfect John wick VR game. You can even spin guns. Sadly it is not on quest

You should try sports mode it is basically boneworks without story mode and you dont fight humans but rather robots. That game fixes some issues you had with boneworks like mag eject is there and its a hip holster
