I honestly think it is in the very near future, at most, 2 years from now, that iPad could replace 14-16inch Wacom tablets. (I've heard rumors that there are plans for a bigger set of iPad Pros, directed to Creatives)
At the moment, you can connect your iPad to a desktop display and turn it into a mirror display, and draw with it like a Wacom Intuos or see a bigger display of your artwork.
Also, when you are tired of your desk, you can move to your couch and just draw at your leisure.
I have a huge feeling more pro apps will be moving to create iPad versions of their softwares. Even Davinci has already started with this.

@@alpha8hereI still prefer apple to do it though. They've done so well with the design to appeal to and cater to creatives. They are truly just generally better than other brand on that aspect. Price and repairing may not be as competitive, but the User interface and experience and such, when they decide to really focus on it they always come up with something better.

@@holohuloloI have both used android tablets and iPads, there is no better tablet between the two. People say iPads are better because of the software support, but both tablets have basically the same apps for a long time now. Then people say that iPads have procreate; while procreate is a decent app, its actually quite limited on the features it gives and there are still tons of missing features that the procreate devs still have not implemented.

I use both, a mobile tablet and a graphics tablet with my laptop.

The exact reason why I want a screen tablet. My 2017 ipad is great for sketching in bed and doing small drawings but now that I’m working on comics, the RAM is way too small and my ipad’s battery has the lifespan of a fly. I’m so sick of always needing to charge other because the charging port has a bad contact and disconnects. (Thus I cant mirror my screen, it doesn’t connect
) I’m just tired of being held back so ill deffo invest in a wacom or huion with a screen so I can use it with my macbook

I come from the PC side and I have a couple of things to say.
One handed keyboard is a must for shortcuts, file management is easier, bigger screen for lesser the price (Check out XP-Pen and Huion lineup) and now you can connect them to an smartphone/tablet which kinda removes the need for a PC.
I later tried iPad and legit couldn't get used to, had to buy some ad-ons to make it more bearable, which meant Bellemond paper like protector and Astropad Blackboard, still I felt something was off...

@@Gross126well, yes and no. its not always about not affording a wacom, but rather getting alot more value. i could have gotten a "cheap" wacom but instead of a $100 huion. its very big, has battery-free pen with tilt support and 8000 pressure points, wired and wireless support, 9 shortcut buttons and a dial. the equivalently priced wacom would have been 5 times smaller, have 4 buttons and no dial, battery pen, 4k pressure and no tilt. and the equivalent wacom with those features and size costs ~$400. it just doesnt make sense.

How do I use zbrush, maya, substance painter, unreal engine, and photoshop on an ipad you tell me how? Exactly not possible digital artists dont just do 2d art. I do 3d stuff, render, composite. Ipads are just for illustrators that wont be needed a lot of power. At the end of the day power and quality wins, thats the name of the game.

I respectfully disagree. I believe that iPad Pro have already proven capable of replacing a Wacom tablet for many digital artists and designers (with the exception of artists who may prefer larger screen real estate). I’ve heavily considered investing in a Wacom throughout my journey as a digital illustrator, and after I learned about the iPad Pro back in 2015, I knew that this had the potential to completely transform the digital art industry. Before then, I was using an Intuos, and I despised almost every second of the learning curve since my hand-eye coordination was not as great as I thought it was. I bought the first iPad Pro a year after it initially released, and I have never loved any other art tool more than this. I now own the 2022 M2 iPad Pro, and I replaced my 14” M1 MacBook Pro with it. It worked for me, and for what I can say, it absolutely doesn’t influence me to consider a graphics tablet. 8 years later and technology has leapt into what we at once thought was impossible. Not only can the latest iPad Pro run faster than most productivity laptops, but it has now brought us innovations that creatives can use to their full advantage. We have Astropad, which can turn your iPad into a graphics tablet. You have Sidecar (which is not as fluid as Astropad), which can mirror or extend your desktop screen. But even then, apps like Procreate have made leaps and bounds with their software, that now you have the ability to do most if not nearly anything you can do in Photoshop. Adobe even created their own digital drawing app just to compete with Procreate and tailor to digital illustrators. I know I’m a bit on my soap box here, as I am passionate about my iPad artists; bottom line however, I strongly believe that digital artists can very well replace their graphics tablet with an iPad without compromising the quality of their work, or having to use too many workarounds. The only problem I foresee is the size of the iPad. With understanding for those who own a Cintiq, an iPad simply won’t replace that much of an investment. To the first commenters point though, hopefully we do see an increase to size with the Pro line. Only time will tell. Thank you for tuning into my mini TED talk. 😅

If I were a fan of expensive equipment such as the iPad, I would write that it is better, but opinions are divided. Not everyone likes to create their work on iPads, and in turn, not everyone likes to create on graphics tablets such as Wacom. However, I am of the opinion that everyone works what they like and are comfortable with, And it is wrong to impose on someone that "he is weaker because he works on this and that". For example, I work on Xppen and Wacom with Windows, because I'm comfortable with these devices, and I'm used to it, and I don't have to mess around with it, because I use Windows at work. But that's just my opinion, And I don't force anyone to choose equipment for work/hobby. Work on whatever you want, whatever is convenient for you.
I know it's a chaotic comment because I'm writing it using a translator, but I think I conveyed the main idea
