I had this single back in the day. This was before Gramm shortened his name and hit the big time with Foreigner. I saw them at the Yellow Balloon in Syracuse a number of times. Great band and great song.
I REALLY LIKE THIS SONG. I LISTENED TO BOTH OF BLACK SHEEP ALBUMS AND LOU'S VOICE IS REALLY RICH AND SOULFUL. GREAT ALBUMS. WISH I WAS AROUND TO SEE HIM AND HIS BAND PERFORM LIVE. HIS JOURNEY IN MUSIC HAS BEEN AWE INSPIRING.SUCH AN INTERESTING MAN WITH SO MUCH TO TEACH AND TELL . MUCH RESPECT. I LOVE LOU GRAMM FOREVER
A sweet 17-year girl is mentioned in this song... His passion was in DNA because of his Italian background... My God, that guitar... My wonderful friend...
@@lady_in_blue83 Then the father says she's 15. In either case, it's statutory rape. I think Lou should be asked why he was fine with it being glorified.
Me too! I lived two houses down from Gramatico in Gates. As a kid I watched them play in my buddy’s basement as his brother was the drummer. We also stole their pot.
Lou would take that as a big compliment. His favorite singers were Paul Roger's and Marvin Gaye. Lou even said, "All right now" by FREE, turned my head 360, and I realized this is the stuff I'm after. " 👍 👍
@@waltersimmons946 Not only Lou was influenced by this band. My wonderful friend was amazed by the vibrato played by Paul Kossoff. He still uses it to play in his key. Don Mancuso was on guitar in this song... I'm really blessed to call him "my treasured friend". It's the unforgettable music journey! Lou remains to be my favorite rock vocalist and my moral mentor.
@lady_in_blue83 Lou mentioned the names I had mentioned and Paul Kassoff in his book 👉 Lou Gramm-JUKE BOX HERO MY 5 DECADES IN ROCK N ROLL . I still have the book . I bought it in 2012.
@@waltersimmons946 I'm glad that you have it. One kind woman bought it for me. Laura sent it in a package to Russia. I hope that I'll receive it and know the end of the story.
@TheJpep2424 Oh yes it is. Listen to Lou "live" back in 1977 on a song called "I WANNA BE YOUR LOVEMAKER, I WANNA BE YOUR SOUL SHAKER written by R&B singer Betty Wright (RIP) Paul Rodgers who I like has nothing on Lou especially when FOREIGNER was in their prime.

I think "rare" is relative, but obviously this was not a widely circulated hit single. As a music fan all my life, I've visited many stores, but I only ever saw the first Black Sheep album in a big collector shop yesterday. I never saw this single before.
It is rare here on UA-cam. It is rare, in the sense that Chrysalis didn't go on releasing US bands, but sticked to Europe (UFO etc.) Come on, have you nothing better to do ? Really ???? Prrrrr
Music that is still loved today. 😊
Love his infamous adlib "listen" also in many foreigner songs especially on concerts. Still does it today in 2024❤
Scooping up Lou Gramm was probably the easiest decision in Rock and Roll history.
Big Free and Paul Rodgers influence here. Brilliant. Ciao Lou Grammatico

What a voice!
He was the voice. Even back then.so much a part of the foreigner sound.
Holy shit...what a great band!
I seen black Sheep in Rochester N Y when I was 17 was crazy Awesome had single took 3 yrs to find album

I’m from Rochester NY and was fortunate enough to see Black Sheep play at a few local bars in the 70’s. I actually still have the 45.
BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SINGLE FOR YEARS. GREAT SONG CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S 40 YEARS OLD
Now 50!
pure class paul Rodgers sound but very good lou gramm perfection
When I first heard it, I myself was thinking they sort of remind the band Free!
@@kevinmskelley sorta?
It's got "Alright Now" vibes for sure.
I thought Paul Rodgers Free
Bassist is having fun
So this is early lou gramm? Wow!
I have a white label promo of this single. It has a small spindle hole and both Mono and Stereo mixes of this song.
8:54. Lou you can definitely stick around with me!! Love this song. 🎵 ❤
Chrysalis I Belive is Part of the Capital GROUP Record Labels . GREAT POST
SAW BLACKSHEEP/POORHEART 1969-1972 AT A PLACE CALLED THE CLUB ON GOULD STREET IN ROCHESTER NY
Great song. Lou Gramm is a vocal legend. Did he sleep with a 15yr old in the song? 🤔
That's my take on it that's why he couldn't stick around!

I saw them open for Crack In the Sky at that dome in Henrietta. It was a special priced WCMF concert.

excellent song.
Great band!
good shit!
Reminds me a lot of “Alright Now”
Yes, it does!!
I just said the same thing.
Song reminds me of "All Right Now" by Free, (a pre-Bad Company band).
so much so I am surprised they were not sued for Copyright, re "all right now"
*Rock and Soul Part 1*
NICE!!!
Awesome! Thanks for the post
Major Free/Bad Co influence.
Yeah - some of the vocal bits are reminiscent of "All Right Now."
Solid "Free-style" vocals for sure, but can't say I'd label it a strong composition.
Thia aong almost sounds like a remake of "All Right Now", with a little spin to it
The first American band ever signed to Chrysalis, though Tull was before that
Kind of sounds like Bad Company and Free
Black sheep sounds a lot like Free

Sounds like they copied All Alright Now. Not the music or chords but it has the same feel.
Doing a Paul Rodgers but didn't need to...his voice is stronger and has a bigger range than PR...sorry Paul but Lou got it down

Lou Gramm wasn't the band Foreigner until 1977. Maureen McGovern was part of the band Foreigner.
No, she wasn't.

Great playing talent and horrible writing talent. But I'm glad because Foreigner happened.
Agreement on all your points; bad writing in this song anyway.
