I just want to say ive been really depressed lately and just dont want to be here but watching your videos has helped me a lot and got me into rc's your my idol i love all of your videos so i just wanted to say thank you for what you did for me
TecTalk---awesome post. myself & my wife are going threw added/deeper depression issues during these times. I know we're not the only people suffering, but depression affects us all. It feels like we are alone but there's many people who love & need us... Thank you for speaking up & bringing light into my day!!
Physics, wheels are not blowing up, it makes them smaller on diameter, so you have much slower gear ratio.... Probably need biger wheels or another gearing?
Not just having less traction from surface ,but gearing itself. Wheels travel the distance equal to perimeter of circle per rotation. These pica cuters are almost double in size of wheel , when in normal state. It means , engine has to rotate much quicker , to get the same speed with wheels, staying small. I would try to change gearing . Not so smart about electric motors, but I believe, they have some max rotations also, and ,if it is enough tourqe in that engine, it should get much faster with changing gear ratio in this case.
@@MrBOTovich quick fyi: these motors deliver a certain amount of rpm per dc voltage applied. A 3200kV motor tries to deliver 94700 rpm at 29.6 Vdc, lipo 8s voltage. If it it does not have enough torque, the amps will rise and the motor gets too hot.
I thought the same thing drag cars use the same principles they use ballooning of the tyres as variable gear ratio he probably lost 1/10 of his gearing with the tyre change
Kev, you're a huge inspiration as to why I started youtube! Your advice got me my first 100 subs! I love you and your videos, your enthusiasm is one to be desired, keep up the awesome videos man 😁❤
Might have lost top speed by adding the band to the center of the tires. In drag racing drag radial tires expand at speed which allows them to not need a transmission.
Tires are not the reason top fuel dragsters have no transmissions but yeah I do agree that tire expansion does help with top speed. It is possible that extra band is what slowed it down
But drag tires are purposely made to run at lower pressures to compensate for that expansion. I know the RC wheels don't have tire pressures but they are shaped like an inflated tyre anyway
Dragsters have a 2 gears transmission. The first one is to get better acceleration and the second one kicks in to mantain a higher speed. Idk if all dragsters have a transmission (maybe not) but i know some do
Wonderful, wonderful, your choice is very successful, the car, battery, spare parts, modification and others. Your wits are very impressive in the RC world. You are a true hero.
It could have been the the older battery but it also looked like the grass was a little taller. At that speed your probably starting to float on top of it. Also with the tires ballooning less your "gear ratio" has been reduced... also with the tires ballooning less your contact patch on the tires is wider making the car float on top of the grass more (more floating more spinning). the ballooning tires would make it more like a knife edge and make it settle down through the grass better also. Maybe try to have some wheels 3d printed that mimic the shape of the ballooned tires (no need for a rubber tire then). their are some fairly robust materials out there to 3d print out of. Also if your going to have Wheels 3d printed have a set made that are narrow all together. less wind resistance and should push through the grass better. great content I'd like to see you succeed in this 100 mph quest on grass.
Really good points, mate. Another thing that would help give you a good comparison between the two 2 set ups, would be to take an rpm reading on one of the wheels for each set up. If the wheel has higher rpm reading than old set up, pretty good confirmation that it's a grass issue. Also I like your idea about the 3d printed wheels. Since it's a grass run, like you said, Kev can ditch the rubber and have a wheel that s narrower with more of a spiky tread like cleats on the bottom of football or golf shoes.
Stumbled upon your channels about 2 weeks ago while researching the TRX-4 to try to chase some geese out of my yard and have been watching all of your vids since then and have gotten the bug to get another RC again. Sold all of mine about 6 years ago to buy a guitar (I know, LAME) but was involved with RC since early '89 up until I sold them all. Your videos have widdled down my choices to the TRX-4, and the outcast 4s although the Losi Baja rey looks pretty bad ass as well. Cheers to you sir for getting this old sumbitch back into this awesome hobby.
Did not come to a Kev Talbot video to learn Android shortcuts, but here we are: long-press a button in the pull-down menu bar and you go straight to those settings! Been on Android since version 3 and never knew that! Heh, thanks Kev! Ed. also the GoPros drive me crazy too. I use an 8 and a 10 and overheating + poor battery life is my biggest issue. Can't use em in the sun, even in late winter, for more than about 20 minutes without them shutting down from overheating as the battery discharges. A sun shade + external power supply to keep the battery at 100% seems to control it, but then you lose your portability. Gah!
@Kevin Talbot Just a thought on why it was slower. You wrapped the tires, which decreases their diameter. Maybe the motors, running at the same speed with the 'larger' tires, allowed for higher speed.
Kev delete some of the Bluetooth devices on your list on the phone. I think it's got a max memory then restart your phone and try pair it again, I done this and it worked for me. Good luck
What a complete Beast you've built Kev 👀. Loved the brace fabrication and how you shoehorned the Max5 in her 😱. Threading the fishing line.... that's serious dedication to a mission Brother. 🍻👍👍😎💪👊👊

Love every thing about this beast, nice engenieering dude. The camera isn't focusing very good and your right about the audio sounding like your talking down a cardboard tube lol.
KEVIN 🤩🤩🤩 I’ve been watching all your vids and I think the issue with the talion speed car is the GRASS! Try larger tires or decrease drag from grass. Increase ride height. The car is dragging on grass. Try it when grass is shorter maybe. Just a though. Love all you vids man! Great stuff!
I like how you glued the ESC into place. The ears on ESC's are always in the way or just snap off. I normally just use silicon to hold mine down and it holds up ok for the light bashing I do.
SUBSCRIBED!!! Kevin, get yourself an optical tachometer. It will let you check the “no load” (theoretical top speed) of the tires, test it on the bench. It sounded like the ESC was clipping full throttle power... programming point miss match? The go pros motion recovery is far superior but viewing pleasure was better on your phone. Thank you for the fun videos.
Dont forget about tekin,Poisidon, and reedy. Ive personally had all these systems in brushless and they are crazy power. Castle is my go to brand mostly
Hi Kevin. Car is going slower cause you stopped the tyre from expanding which reduced the diameter as it speeds up. So the ratio is smaller. Put a larger diameter at same rpms and you’ll go faster. Cut the line off and test my theory. Cheers from Mario. Australia.
Epic Vid as always. 👍 Maybe when you got fresh pair of Graphene Panthers might be better. The tyres strapped to limit ballooning is also effectively gearing it down, which will definitely be detrimental to top speed. Also Kevin don't know how you got your diffs set up? Maybe heavier diff fluid, so there's less diff action & less Slip.
hey Kevin... have you ever installed CV gators on your X-Maxx... I was considering installing these to keep the bearings safe and also the inner cups clean and free of debris ... I was going to fill them with a little grease and cable tie them on both ends on each gator... you think it would be worth it? It should surely make a difference when your driving in wet conditions to keep your inners gears clean and well lubricated no?
Kev, take the nylon fishing line off of the tires. It will still stretch as monofilament has a stretch factor in it. Go to the Angling shop and get some 30lb braided line. Zero stretch and very low diametre. should stop all the balloning problems.
I use venom hard case batteries. Had them for a year, bashed pretty hard, still works fine. I think you should take a look at some of their hard case lipos.
Kevin, a dremel tool makes quick clean work of cutting things. You have a lot of great tools. Any particular reason you don’t own one or use one if you do? Love your channel brother.
If your tire bows less friction is applied, if the wheel expands your wheel covers more ground, might i suggest you put super-glue on the connection between your tire and rim? Put glue on the bead and remove the fishing line on the outside.
Hi Kev, I would have to agree that batteries are standing out as the problem but maybe its the motor as you were crazy king on it pretty hard a few times trying to move it around... also must agree how terrible the gopro looked but especially sounded! Don't you hate when things are supposed to be the newer better version and they aren't even as good as the one they are replacing.... might just need to dial it in. Keep em coming Kev
You are going to have to get the chassis above the grass to get a higher speed, it looks like a lawnmower went through the patch at 70mph. Try stiffening up the rear suspension to keep the back end from dragging under power.
i think it's slower becoulse of the fishing line on the middle of the tires. it doesn't balloon as much. it has a smaller diameter compared to the previous setup at high speeds.

kev, their was definitely a change in the audio quality but most people just watch the video in 1080p so the video was fine.
Great video btw😊👍
Aarya Reacts 2 corrections, there*, and 1080p is a graphical option, no relation to audio at all, but didnt notice any audio change
