Thanks for the comment. The sound is one of the things that attracted me to live steam. Very relaxing to me, compared to the electronic systems which try to make as many decibels as a full size train.
Thanks for the comment. It’s my first gas engine. My inexperience took a minute to sort out. Plus fixing a leak and a little wearing in. She does run exceptionally well now. I like all three versions: Green, black, and black with blue boiler. It’s a great engine.
@@brianb7693 I bought those skeleton log cars at a convention in AZ back in ‘98. Always had big plans to cut some branches to replace the plastic logs. Alas, life kept happening and I never got around to having a railroad upon which to run them. Three of them still had tape; had never been opened.
I just bought whatever butane they had at the hardware store. People have telling me to get isobutane; supposedly hotter. But she runs pretty well on the plain old stuff from the hardware store. I just finished installing link & pin couplers on the remaining four log cars. Did the first two about 20 years ago. Never imagined I’d have a live steam Shay with which to pull them, back when I bought them all those years ago.
I am glad that the model runs now in the way you wanted it.
It took some tuning and wearing in. Now she runs spectacularly.
Superb! It sounds so calm and just happily ticking along. Really nice!

It’s a fun engine. Runs super smooth even at very low speed. Encourage you to get it.

Also, very nice slow speed.
