I saw him. He was a genius on the field. The last real number 10 of the italian football. Legendary. He played most of his life with a leg that was not working properly and never complained. He gave up his career to save his club Juventus, and because of that he will be probably remembered in Italy for eternity.

Del Piero is a legend. He played when Serie A was the best league in the world, when defenders were way stronger than nowadays and above all they were allowed to beat the shit out of the strikers (no Var and referees were way more tolerant than now, strikers were beaten for 90 minutes). Especially before the knee injury, Del Piero was the best of his generation, in my opinion second only to Ronaldo (the Brazilian) and Baggio.
in the era he played, across europe there were so many creative and skilled players - R9, Zidane, Nedved, ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Giggsy, Scholes, Raul, Guti.. just to name a few. nowadays we less of these type of players who express themselves freely on the football pitch just to more emphasis on tactics
People says Platini (UEFA chief and Legend of Juventus) was envious of him so he Is the first football player to won the "FIFA world player" but not ballon d'or..
PS: "FIFA world player" Is the biggest individual Trophy for a football player 😉
Del Piero didn't win any of those, and Platini wasn't around when the FIFA world player of the year came into existence. What your saying makes no sense.

@@SooRetroo Well, Del Piero played in a top team like Juventus, while Totti stubbornly remained at Roma, a generally inferior team. In Italy, Totti was generally seen as a better player. Del Piero was usually Totti's sub in the national team.

ADP was not underrated… he was swept aside like most Italian greats because they choose to stay in Italy and be kings rather then get paid far more by going to other leagues for more money!
