Where was the dead-man's switch? Obviously NOT in the master controller if he could release it while the car is still running. I'm accustomed to the NYC subway cars of yesterday where the master controller handle had to be held down continuously to prevent the emergency brakes from being applied.
715's dead-man only cuts power to the motors; it does not apply the brake. When operating 715, we hold down the handle down while advancing through the acceleration points on the controller. Once we have reached the desired speed, we bring the handle back to the idle position and release it.
