Good one Jim , Ive taken a lot of foxes with my 452 22lr, plenty of stopping power with shot placement, the longest was 100 yds head shot. Happy New Year to you and all your family
Very true Dave bloody tropical weather 😂 and thank-you yes I had to act quick with the second shot, but yhe way it dropped with the first one I thought that was it.
G'day Jim, nice going mate, I also find long grass is bad news with IR, it reflects of the grass and blots out the target. Well you've got your winter fog and mist and we've got our mid to high 35c plus weather. Soldier on my lad🙂👍
Thanks mate and yeah I totally agree that long grass can be a nightmare with the ir torch. We had snow last night so winter definitely here but it doesn't last long. It's your summer at the moment isn't it? I'm working on another vid as we speak I'm using my 17HMR on the foxes so hopefully will be uploaded soon. 👍
@jimwood Cool , look forward to seeing it .... Yeah its bloody hot here in South Australia. The heat is dry and the Sun feels like its scratching your skin. A normal 35c day will reach about 38c out in the paddock...I've lived in SA all my life and I still hate the 7 to 14 day heatwaves, some days it gets over 40c with 45 not uncommon. As you can see in my vids, as soon as it goes over 25c the mirage makes LR even more challenging. Which reminds me , I feel like a spot.223ing, hmm maybe this Saturday👍
@cyclo360 I couldn't stand heat like that I've been spoilt with shitty UK weather all my life 😂. I have always wanted to goto Oz and hopefully I will looks an amazing place but probably not in the summer. Yeah a mirage can be a right problem and with the wind as well it certainly makes it challenging mate. Be good to see the .223 in action I haven't used mine for ages.
Nice to see a video from you Jim, and as you said ' not a bad night's outing' despite the misty/foggy weather. The rabbits showed up well on the video, as did the foxes. I was surprised that this one started to crawl away, could it have been adrenaline that caused the fox to do this?
Thanks mate and yes it could have been adrenaline that made it do that. I thought it was dead after the first shot but this happens from time to time just pleased with the follow up shot mate.
I agree completely but after the first shot I thought it was job done but quick follow up shot done the job. I certainly don't like to see it but unfortunately it does happen but not very often.

The trouble when you live on a tropical island Jimbo , fog and mist drifting in from the warm sea.
