Thanks for the video, can I use saw dust or coffee husks instead of rice husks.
Thanks alot
Good and informative video! :)
Hello, can wheat bran be used instead of rice husk?
I think the husk is mainly used for aeration. I use vermiculite for that and for moisture retention.
@@valamaas thanks for the answer Valamas
thank you for the information
Why did you add manure and carbonized rice husk?
Well-decomposed manure (not the fresh or dried one) is used as an additional nutrient source and to add better water holding capacity, especially if the top soil/garden soil in the area is sandy. Carbonized rice husk, if available in area, can be added to give better porosity for seedling media - especially if the top soil/garden soil is clayey. This is just one sample of farmer's mixture used in the area where commercial seedling substrates are not available. Other materials like vermicompost can be used too as long as it provides the needed requirements for seedling production - good water holding capacity, good nutrient source, free from insect pests and pathogens.
Thanks allot, nice video.
please how long does it take for manure to be considered as well decomposed? how do you carbonize rice husk?
Very useful guide. I'd like to donate my macopa seeds.it's to prevent soil erosion..i have no wide area of land to plant.hope you can help.
It depends on your compost set up. Like on vermicompost you can already harvest after a month and also when you apply microorganisms that help in decomposition like Trichoderma. To check if it is well decomposed, it should look like soil and has no foul smell.
