Yes, but there are no violinists in band class, usually. They're usually in "orchestra" class, which is for some reason a different class, and smaller schools usually don't even have a string section at all.
@@ethervagabond This. My high school band had everything but strings. There was even a euphonium and a french horn, three percussionists, but no strings of any kind. Too expensive for the school to buy/rent and upkeep, I assumed.

I played baritone sax and thankfully had a harness that went around my shoulders, so it was manageable.

0:47 2 things: i highly doubt Mama Kirin put her flute away after her last concert and said "welp, no need to do anything with that for the next 20 years," and you can easily take it apart and clean/sanitize it, either at home or take it to a music/instrument shop for a professional cleaning. if you really want "ew," forget your instrument at home and be forced to use the school's "loaner" instruments

Idk. The flute players in our band didn't get the good parts. So many kids wanted to okay drums or saxophone, but then the ones that did learned that in a normal band they are the background instruments. Brass played most of the cool parts. I played trumpet and was assigned solo parts a lot.
We didn't get any snobby flautists but we had one female trumpet player who was always acting like she was better than everyone else and would get mad when I got the solo parts even though I didn't want them. For the most part I remember band being pretty chill and everyone getting along. Though most people generally stayed within their sections, the trumpets and drums got along really well for some weird reason.

The flutes did get the slower, softer melodies or small parts that only served to counterbalance the real centers of attention: the trumpets. Who, in my band, were *directly behind* the flutes. There may have been some antagonism between them.
Also, spit valves may be disgusting but once you see someone "emptying" a french horn they are not quite as bad...
Proud of her very talented as a member of marching band before the difference is that we don't use wind pipe instruments cause it's called drum and lyre band that is why I'm quite drawn to the western marching band cause they look crazy like what a description of marching band by the way I'm a drummer before the only regrets I have is that I didn't learn how to read notes that is why I'm struggling cause before as well our instructor are the one who reads it and show us how to do it so I believe that I shouldn't learn it lol M.I.L.F 💚

To gross people out less, the spit valves aren't actually full of spit, it's mostly condensation of water vapor, though there is like 1-2% of spit in there.
