You said you use size 2 and 4 owner mosquito hooks. Is that because of how clear of water you are fishing? I throw 1 and 1/0 in the Owner mosquito for smallies and am amazed at how consistent the hook penetrates the roof of the mouth just like a drop shot should. I do love Gamakatsu hooks as well but prefer the finesse wide gap over the split shot/drop shot. Personal preference though, I don't have confidence in the ss/ds hook shape. But, you are a far better fisherman and put way more hours on the water than me so I am excited to see your outcome.
I use the 2 and 4 sizes in all drop shot hooks because of the clear water and I dont like a larger hook to interfere with the movement of the bait. Even the Gama I have been using are that size now and they seem to be legit for me!
I throw a drop shot a bit here in WI, I believe the Trokars are too heavy of a hook for light line, I have lost more than I have caught on them. I have had a lot of success with the Aaron Martens hooks. I just fished Sturgeon Bay this weekend and caught most of my fish dropshotting a VMC #2 Neko hook. Every fish was hooked solidly in the top of the mouth.
AOY in the Costa just gets you a SK tackle pack and paid deposits for the 2018 season. To qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup you have to do well in the end of year championship.
The #2 mosquito hook is a pretty small hook, and from my experience smaller drop shot hooks tend to skin hook fish in the mouth. It would of been interesting if you had some larger size hooks to try out that day and see if it made any difference during that time period after the spawn.
Just started doing some drop shoting this past year....I've done it before but I don't have much confidence in it until this year. I've been using the Trokar drop shot hook and I like them alot. I want to try the Arron Martin's hook. Let us know how wich one you decide on. Good luck on Oneida...
thumbs up.. 🎣👍

Good point on the hook causing the bait to react different depending on the weight of them! I wish I could get up to Sturgeon Bay soon!
Pack up the boat and head this way between tournaments! Would love to hit the Bay and Bago with you!

The a mart and trokars are very good. What line/leader you using? Good luck
8 or 6 lb BPS Floro and Braid the leader is about 8-10 feet
What do you do for a living?
Gamagatsu a Mart hooks are best in business.
