I have no doubt he would be, except that his unashamed Christian faith and morality will keep the mainstream and most progressive fans from accepting him. I mean, look at The Neal Morse Band. Gillette, Portnoy, and of course Neal Morse who led one of the most well-respected prog bands throughout the nineties, and The Neal Morse Band can't get an audience any bigger than a few hundred people even though they are probably making the most incredible and original progressive music out there. Opeth can't even touch these guys, but, you know, Christians suck so let's not even give them the respect they are most certainly due.
