Really like the side by side, only suggestion would be putting text that says before and after above. Looks like that speakers from around 2007, which is around the time when Klipsch bought the company in 2005 so I wonder if this is before Klipsch started molding them into what they are now which smiley face frequency curves.
+1 and patiently waiting to see the Monitor Audio Silver upgrade. Hopefully it will be an extended run time clip like Danny's Vintage -vs- Modern review a few months ago. btw, don't youtube only give priority placement to videos over 20min run time?
I bought used jamo D265 for my teenage daughter paired it with Denon PMA 6.5 Integrated amp, which was upgraded by my friend and I was really pleasantly suprised about how it all sounds for a few hundred quid I spent its a bargain. If you had an upgrade for them I would buy it roght now. Great work, really like the channel
Why not just use an electronic crossover and bi-amp? That is what we used to do with tube amps back in the 70s. Sounded much better than passive crossovers and much more tweakable.
I love my Jamo C93ii, Verry clear and airy sound, but the lower mids (male vocals) are a bit too recessed, If you figure out how to fix that I'd buy that kit in a heartbeat.
Have you ever heard of the PP 3000's from jamo? They're 40 years old. I don't know if they suck but I have a pair in my living room I'd like to repair.
When I saw the title of this video I thought you were doing the current jamo s803. The ones I have straight out of the box they sound pretty good but they could probably use a little help
I assume the graph on the right was after? The woofer breakup doesn't seem to be as suppressed as factory. Did you see any effects in HD or CSD? The upper midrange wasn't as smooth either
I was wondering that myself. I have the big tower c809, and they certainly don’t need any more issues in that area of the response. Great speaker but that upper mid/treble has some underlying thing that I reckon could be better.
I would really love to see your opinion on Nubert speakers, but they are only sold in Germany/Europe. If you ever get the chance, please analyze Nubert NuVero 60 and maybe Nubert NuVero 140 aswell. Thx, I really enjoy your channel!
Hi Danny. Love the channel. You mentioned cone breakup above the range the driver is playing. How far above the crossover point is audible with typical 7-10dB breakup modes? Can it be tamed with a notch filter?
I have a C805 tower being driven by a 4w EL84 single ended tube amp. Sufficient loudness for my bedroom. Great bang for buck these C800 series speakers.
Wondering if there’s anything you can do with the pro driver Beyma 15XA38nd coaxial as a Tannoy/Altec alternative? There is a recommended Xover but I’m sure it could be improved upon for hifi?
I recently upgraded the electrolytic caps on my C601 and C605 (on the woofer circuit), there really was no difference. The tweeters already had film caps, and the general component quality was fairly high. I kind of doubt there's much more improvement to made. Even in the video, the upgrade didn't really yield that much of a difference in measured response so it's not really worthwhile.
Hard to do at all. Of course you can´t hear how speakers sound, through you own speakers. If you could somebody could the buy the worlds best setup, record music from it, and everybody would have state of the art sound on their ghetto blasters.
You can’t accurately hear a comparison difference over UA-cam recordings. You’re mostly going to be hearing the difference due to crossover slope and this different responses of the drivers than anything to do with “better components”. That kind of stuff is minimal and due to the larger differences elsewhere, no one can really say if it helped or not over the recording
@@RennieAsh Do you actually have any experience of completing work on crossovers? I have. Recent DIY upgrade on my own speakers, replacing the iron core inductor on the midrange driver for a quality air core part provided a revelation in clarity. Replacing capacitors also provided a worthwhile improvement in detail, especially noticeable when tracks get busy. Perhaps you should have a look at your c809's and try it for yourself, I expect it will completely change your opinion on what can be achieved.
India Kilo I mean telling a difference over UA-cam recording, and I never said it makes no difference, only a minimal one compared to changing crossover slopes and frequencies. Funny how people are quick to assume I’ve never upgraded or made a crossover. Usually turns out that I’ve done more than simply throwing in “better” components of the same value. Even designed my own speaker, now not many can say they’ve done that! Changing inductor usually results in lower DCR component = slightly more output of lower frequencies which people detect as “more powerful and clear bass”. Same thing can happen with capacitors, depending on the age or type. I’ve also found that it’s very easy to have expectation or confirmation bias among other effects while comparing audio equipment. Not many people will admit such things.

I've got a pair of Jamo S801's. Overall, pretty happy with them. They're being replaced with a pair of Desktop Mini's... as soon as I get 'em done :D
Thanks Danny. Love your enthusiasm 🙂 Please can you do Monitor Audio silver series. Thanks for your efforts 🤠

Had no idea this channel or these kits existed, this is neat
Where the heck is Ron(NRD)? He's needed for the assembly line to help get those Mini's out the door!!! Lol...🤣🤣
We just hired a new guy, but what we really need are parts... Otherwise you're just hiring people to stand around & wait on parts with ya. :P
@@hoth2112 very true!! Have a good one 👍

You are doing such cool work Danny. Getting closer to deciding to start the DIY journey. Thanks for the inspiration!
Why not just use an electronic crossover and bi-amp? That is what we used to do with tube amps back in the 70s. Sounded much better than passive crossovers and much more tweakable.
When you get into higher quality parts and gear the passive approach will sound better.
I hope there will be a two-way maxi in addition to the mini. Keep up the good work!
Gotta review some FOCAL speakers

Would you say they are a good front left and right speaker pair, for a home theater set up? I don't really listen to music much. Thank you!
@@ProudPapaKY I only have a 2.1 system, but I use them for TV and movies as well music, and I think they work well.

Danny, if you have time please explain what is wrong with sandcast resistors. Thanks for the time you take to make your videos. 🙂
They degrade the sound verses other types of resistors.
Well anyone can say that really, I can say other types of resistors degrade the sound too, and no one is any better off, because both are opinions :)
@@RennieAsh The facts are some degrade the signal a lot more than others.
Danny Richie it’s still not an explanation though :)
@@RennieAsh The sand resistors are higher inductance than the Mills resistors
Good stuff! Hey, is this guy Huckleberry Hound’s long lost cousin?
Do the c93ii too... they sound great outta the box. And they're cheap. 250 for black cabinets
Hi Danny, do you have a way to measure distortion? It'd be interesting to see if that is reduced with the new crossover and other upgrades.
Distortion is not a good measuring stick for performance. Small variations there don't amount to much.
@@dannyrichie9743 So you don't measure distortion during the development of the new filters then?
@@TheDaniel85 Nope, there is no value there. Distortion has become little more than a catch phrase.

Hi there. Unrelated to this but what happens if you line the inside of speaker cabinets with the stuff you find in an anechoic chamber?
Jamo knows its stuff

Had Jamo CBR904s that I played to death and really like them ... that was a long time ago!
Hi Danny. Love the channel. You mentioned cone breakup above the range the driver is playing. How far above the crossover point is audible with typical 7-10dB breakup modes? Can it be tamed with a notch filter?
It was high enough up and low enough in amplitude not to need a notch filter. It didn't show up on a spectral decay.
Will it work with Jamo Studio Series S809 Floorstanding?
Really wish you would do a JAMO tower. Maybe the 805?
I have a C805 tower being driven by a 4w EL84 single ended tube amp. Sufficient loudness for my bedroom. Great bang for buck these C800 series speakers.
Looks like you actually *increased* the overall sensitivity by about 1/3 to 1/2 Db. Now that's unusual. Nice work.

@GR-Research Where is the cables blind test???
It's coming....
Nice set of spkrs
Have the c607s and have really enjoyed them over all. I tried the c97ii and couldn't bare to listen to them. The topend was painful
Could you take a look at Harbeth speakers please?
Hi there! Great content! I wonder if you could make a video on the NHT Zero speakers. Cheers
Only if someone sends me one.

Hey Danny, i was watching one of Pauls videos befor and realized you need a better microphone... ;)
I'd like to upgrade my Polk Audio LSiM 705's!!
Someone local give this man a epi 100, or epicure model 10. It’s got one capacitor…
My favorite speaker of all time. I had Human Speakers rebuild mine. Still haven't found any thing better.
You can raise prices. I’ll pay it.
The C803 no longer exists anywhere on the Internet. . Now what?
These were released some 16 years ago, I have a pair which I love. They were not cheap back on release, nearly $2000 Australian dollars
See you later today!

Nasty frequency response in the high-midrange before and after. I'd take a Wharfedale instead of these hands down
