Joseph Schleifstein - An Incredible Story of Young prisoner who Made the NAZIS Pay for his Suffering
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 тра 2024
- Joseph Schleifstein, the son of Jewish parents, was born on the 7 March 1941 in the Jewish ghetto in Sandomierz, which was located in the German-occupied Poland. Schleifstein and his parents - father Izrael and mother Esther - lived in the Sandomierz through its existence as a ghetto, from June 1942 through January 1943. After the liquidation of the ghetto the family was moved to the Czestochowa ghetto, where Joseph’s parents were presumably put to work in one of the HASAG factory camps.
During the Second World War, HASAG became a Nazi arms-manufacturing conglomerate with dozens of factories across German-occupied Europe using slave labour on a massive scale.

The fact that historical documents are censored for modern sensibilities is a slap in the face to all those who endured the atrocities of the Nazi folly. Reprehensible and totally disrespectful.
Exactly it pisses me off UA-cam does that now .
give them a thumbs down
Hell yeah
I agree
Gedaan
For people who want such images censored, remember it’s not about you and your feelings.
True. I feel the world must see these atrocities for them to realize this was absolutely true............especially those who refuse to believe it and has called it a lie. I stand with Israel.
and its certainly not about your lack of feelings
Why censored - these are historical documents.
Eisenhower was right to MAKE the German citizens view the camps.
I don't want these images censored, but it most definitely is about our humanity and our empathy for the suffering of other people. After all what is it to be human?
I saw this little boy in a documentary about WW2. At the time I thought, I hope he survived. Now I know he did, and I even know his name. I am so glad. ❤
❤😚
Ze boy in ze striped pajamas, he was adorable!
Be warned, this could happen again, stay alert!
It IS already happening again....on College Campuses and the halls of world politics...the evil idea is still alive and kicking....we didn't stamp it out.
Not “could”!
Has happened again! Is happening now! Wake up!

Our enemies revelled and still do so in their barbarity.
it is happening in Palestine has been for decades
I took care of an elderly Jewish man in a Jewish nursing home here in Melbourne and I remember seeing his arm tattoo.
He was a boy during the Holocaust and I remember that he was very short in adulthood.
I felt sad for him, even though he'd obviously survived. He had dementia and was unable to speak, so as I took care of him, I'd think of lots of questions about his life, that we sadly weren't able to discuss.
I didn't know for sure, but I suspected that childhood starvation had stunted his growth.
I'm so glad that I had the privilege of taking care of survivors. They will always be the Lord God of Israel's treasured possession, His Chosen People.
"The apple of His eye", as Zechariah says.
Beautiful comment.
Bless you, too, for your loving care.
Caroliner2029: Sad, sad story. May this man rest in peace. Also, so very true...Israel's people, the Jewish race, are His chosen people. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
You can't be God's chosen if you reject him
Israel is no longer the chosen people of God.
I'm an 81 year old Vietnam vet and witnessed horrible things, but absolutely nothing compared to this! All of these horrors make me want to vomit! Best of luck to mankind, even though it appears we don't deserve it!
Bless You Sir ❤ horrible I couldn't imagine what you went through Thank you for your service..I truly mean it.
Unfortunately history tends to repeat itself and some people would desire the repetition. Here’s to the future!
Thank you for your service. God bless you and yours.

@@jamesb.9155except there’s no such thing as karma. God is in control of all things. His judgements are true and righteous.

Yes, pray for alle the grilled Babies, world is stupid enough to trust any liar.
Never Again is Now!!!!
Pray for those who died in the Holodomor too, and in Armenia, the Indians, and the Native Americans.
Palestine 🇵🇸 is experiencing a genocide. Israel 🇮🇱 shame on you .
@@swissgirlie1 Nooo, we stand with Ehrlos Rotzkrakeel.
I was an adventurous youngster from England during the 1950’s but I knew two things if I was extremely hungry. One was to never be afraid to call a Romany van and ask for something to eat, I was never ever refused. And the other thing was that if ever I saw a camp tattoo on a man’s arm he would always make sure I got something to eat. I travelled the world and finally settled down in New Zealand where I still am at 83 years of age.
That last line is spot on. The problem is that a lot of people don't want to remember it because it is so painful. If history was not painful, then we would not learn anything from the past. I feel the more painful it is, the more ingrained the lesson is and the more unlikely it will be repeated.
You nailed that right. We must remember the lessons of history, even when they are painful to remember. If we forget these lessons, we are likely to repeat the atrocities.
We better remember it, otherwise it will happen again. All the signs are out there again.
Agreed. One thing that seems forgotten already is that along with the 6 million Jews that were murdered, there were 5 million others, who rarely get mentioned. They were Gypsies (Roma), communists, political opposition members, mentally and physically challenged, people who got caught trying to help the Jews, Gays and more. Pretty much never mentioned these days.
Don’t listen to AI
That is what BLM doesn’t understand. They removed civil war memorials in an attempt to erase history.
As always these real life stories need to be told over and over again in the hopes that this is never ever repeated again!
Why is this being repeated in Palestine?
Oct 7th 2023
@@thestuffoflife88 and you think it's the same thing? level of willful ignorance is staggering.
It has been repeated again, many, many times!
Again again and again!
So miraculous how Joseph Schleifstein and his parents survived the Holocaust. A poignant and inspiring story of how people can overcome adversity, even under the worst circumstances. Thank you for this eye-opening video.
If one hasn't been made already a movie would be great about his and his family's unique story. A Jewish boy being hid not only by his dad but also camp guards. Plus a great ending where he gets to be with both his parents again.
@@necromora666The film “Life Is Beautiful” is mentioned during the documentary I believe, or maybe in one of the comments. It’s evidently based on this child’s experience. An indescribably powerful wise enlightening work of art, history and education!!
Please don’t get too carried away with romantic ideas of how people “overcome adversity”. Most did not. And most of those who did simply survive (not “overcome”) suffered greatly their whole lives. Part of the legacy of the holocaust may be the atrocities of Gaza.
@@cacampbell3654no. The jewish community by far has shown resilience amidst adversity. Before they were meek and did not fight back. Now they are strong and are able to defend themselves yet the world labels them as evil for doing so. They have survived despite the overwhelming odds by working hard to prove their worth. They didnt go whine and complain about their situation but rather strived hard to make it better. Unlike the palestinians who refuse to live with them in peace, keep on terrorizing the israelis, then go whine and complain when the IDF strikes back.
@@cacampbell3654Meaning the atrocities by Humas you must mean.
My mother was at Bergen Belsen not long after it was liberated while serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force & she said she would never forget what she witnessed there and only talked with me about it one time and was very emotional about it!
Living through those horrific events would make anyone with a heart, emotional. Never Again. Down with the Cancel Culture. History must be preserved, not destroyed. Otherwise, the worst of it will be repeated.
She did her duty to humanity by passing her story to you.
Mankind can be so cruel
Did your mother mention who were the Kapo and what was their part in all of this ?
No, she did not tell you that part. I wonder why...
@user-rm8gt6qq3r The worst of that was the Sonderkommando.
I was 10 years old in 1957 when the unedited footage of the liberation of the concentration camps was released in the US and broadcast on TV on the Walter Cronkite show.
Seeing that footage at that age was profoundly traumatic and very enlightening for me.
Both my parents were WWII vets, both had experienced extreme adversity in their lives. And unfortunately the ways that they coped created a very toxic family culture. So I received no comfort whatsoever seeing the extent of human cruelty, and it helped me realize that just as no one had stopped the holocaust, just as no one had rescued millions, no one would rescue my family either.
The cruelty would go one for another five years until my dad escaped by dying.
I subsequently made a promise to my child self that I would never allow such horror to exist unchallenged, unstopped.
So throughout my life I have watched films, read books, EDUCATED myself.
This documentary is one of the best I’ve seen in my lifetime! Thanks very much for it!
My heart aches for what you’ve experienced in your life. But there is one who knows & loves you more deeply than you could possibly imagine, & His Name is Jesus. He longs for you to know Him.
Precious little Joseph ❤️
What an incredible account of survival.
I'm glad to have been introduced to him here in this video, as I've wondered about him every time I've seen his little face looking at us in documentary footage.
It's an incredible blessing for the family that Joseph's parents survived, as that precious little boy might not have survived his PTSD, and then the next precious generation of Jewish children wouldn't have been born.
Am Y'israel Chai!❤
If you don't know your history, you're doomed to repeat it... sometimes I wonder if we're headed that way again😢
Answer : Gaza

If you don't know that the Vatican is responsible...it is being and will be repeated
Unfortunately we do
Absolutely Amazing! Life is Beautiful was a very good film. However, it was also an extremely sad reminder of just how cruel human beings can be to one another. I am happy to hear that both of Joseph's parents survived the war. That was not the norm.
Thank you for telling Joseph's story. I have always been fascinated by his image.
Thank you for your kind words. We are so happy to present you his story :)
@@WorldHistoryVideos If He's Still Alive I Can Imagine His Buchenwald Uniform Being A Family Heirloom Where His Great Grandkids Wear It As Night Clothes
I have seen this little boys picture. I assumed that he died in the Holocaust like millions of other Jewish children.
@@KatherineSparkes We hope that you liked the video.
@@WorldHistoryVideos Yes I liked the video. I thought that the little boy died until I saw your video with him dressed in a miniature US army uniform.
I have seen Joseph in countless documentaries, in the video with the wooden scooter. I'd always wondered about the little boy, and what happened to him. Thank you for bringing us his, and his parents, story. Never forget.
Thank you
I saw his photo with the Scooter and it broke my heart. I was only young when I saw him so this may sound silly. I always imagined if I were there I’d scoop him up and cuddle and kiss him telling him it would be ok.

Growing up, I remember the stories of survivors, I worked with a Polish lady who had the tattoo, she never covered it up, she was a proud survivor. It still breaks my heart.
Did she was Jewish?
Australia did take in surviving children of Buchenwald.
I have a copy of the film 'Buchenwald Boys' on DVD, which I'm going to watch now.
My mother had met one of the Buchenwald Boys when he was an adult, and she spoke with great respect for him.
The Boys met together regularly and had an uplifting appreciation for life and family. Everyone who met them loved them.
STOP CENSORING HISTORY!!!!!!
These horrific stories break my heart , how people can be so cruel is beyond belief 😢
What an amazing story! The fact that this whole family survived the Holocaust, and they all went to a concentration camp, is probably one of the only families that did!
one of very few ...
Thank you WorldHistoryVideos.
We must try to always keep history intact and preserved for the sake of Truth to the future of human experience.
Denying, distorting, covering, exaggerarating and destroying history merely condemns our abilities to advance beyond the same.
My grandpa escaped from Buchenwald and wrote a book about it.
The survival story of Joseph and his parents is very touching.
Glad that the family survived the horrors of world war 2.
If Joseph is alive, he must be just over 85 now.
I wish him peaceful and happy years ahead.
Thank you for the story of Joseph Scheifstein😢😢
Well done History Channel!!Such a miraculous and moving story. Thank you for sharing it in such a tasteful manner, yet exposing the Nazi atrocities.
Once again, I beg the peoples of the world to stop their prejudices, hatred, intolerance, and "looking the other way"...

This little boy was more of a man then most men today.
Rediculous. He only survived because the they WERENT killing them. How the fk would he make it to the end of the war if not? Do people even question this crap?
@WatchmyPlaylist. CRAP you are calling the Holocaust CRAP! May the EVIL that covered Germany's death camps visit you some night until you FEEL its terrifying REALITY.

Thank you so much.
I agree!
That was more than war. It was war plus torture, slavery and genocide.
There are no "both sides" here. The jews didnt fihgt or attack no one!!!!
I disagree. The Germans KNEW what was happening. You are being false to the truth.
It's a crime to cencor away the horror! Than nobody realices how terryfiing it was!
Exactly! That's why the media refuses to show the atrocities of Oct 7th, 2023, that Hamas did to their next-door neighbors who are Jewish!
That was fascinating just proves that the human spirit endures no matter what
This needs to be shown in schools !

Thank you so much. Yes, his face is iconic and very well known ... yet not much has been done to cover his story ... We hope that thanks to this video and all amazing viewers we have, he will be known to the whole world now :)
Thank you for this information. I have seen Joseph in so many documentaries over the years and I always wondered who he was and what became of him. His face as a child was haunting and so beautiful - a reminder of how much humanity lost because of hate & violence. I hope it never happens again. These are sad days in America.. So many seem not to have learned from history
Thank you Very Much for revealing this little guy's name. I have to admit this picture did bring me to tears. I had seen him more than several times and wondered who we was.
Now I and others know!!
Many Thanks for bringing his story to the world!!!
Thank you for just another valuable contribution!
Thank you so much :)
Hopefully he has written a book about his life’s experiences. Would really appreciate hearing a lecture from him if he was willing.
This is very true, we are seeing this history trying to be repeated again now in America, but we will not allow it to happen
It's already happening. Joseph Kennedy - JFK's father was a Nazi or nazi sympathizer. That's why he could never run for President. Nazis used the Democrat's jim crowe laws and crossed out negro and put jew. Same people as today. Doing the same thing to Israel. So many people will vote for democrats not knowing what they're doing.
That’s shocking the kid was still alive! Thank you SO much for his story! In many years of studying the Holocaust, I’ve seen little Joseph’s pictures hundreads of tomes and every time broke my heart because I was so sure he had been killed. Now I know he made it I will no longer be sad when I see his pictures but smile!
Such a brave young man!
Thank you for providing his story.
I’ve always wondered about this boy. He has a name and survived to tell what happened.
Why is this being censored? These days the pictures should be seen.
I’ve always wondered about that little boy. Thank you🙂❤️
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for being with us :)
Years ago I worked as a teller in an off track betting parlor. A man came to my window and when he handed me his money I noticed the number tattooed on his arm. I locked eyes with him and he had the saddest eyes I’ve ever seen. I almost cried!
We must never forget. The shame is our history is "sanitized" for today's children.
He looks just like his father. Also, the German people knew what was going on! Look what they did to their Jewish neighbors on Kristallnacht.
How could they not know when the Jews were being taken away.
Was not disclosed to the public as to their end demise. Many local also lived in fear to speak out about anything. Same as today in any dictatorship.. puplic are brainwashed .. and or others will just keep quiet or risk their lives. Always innocents suffer for bad leaders. 😢
Thank you, hope we continue learning.
A Good Presentation on this Brave Boy🙂👋
Wow! What a story of perseverance, survival and resilience. All those other children that were executed is just too horrible to describe.
❤ FOR WHOOPIE GOLDBERG WHO SAID THE HOLOCAUST WASN'T ABOUT ELIMINATING A RACE, BUT IT WAS ABOUT " MANS INHUMANITY TO MAN!" SHE SHOULD MEET WITH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS, AND SAY THAT! LIKE TO KNOW WHO MADE HER A AUTHORITY! WHEN SOME SURVIVORS LOST EVERY MEMBER OF THEIR FAMILY! EASY TO TALK WHEN YOU NEVER LIVED IT! ❤
That there are still people who deny that this happened fills me a deep loathing. That these people who survived this were able to get on with their lives is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. May God bless them all. Never forget.
It’s unbelievably true. What some humans do to others with no remorse or feeling is awful. I love that little boy x

Smartest man i knew Rabbi Sandburg a substitute teacher in Allegany County Maryland once rolled up his sleeve to show the class his tatoo number and shared his concentration camp truism. A lot of were crying ecen the tuff guys. RIP
Thank you for showing J. Schleifstein as a little boy in Buchenwald. He has such a cute face, heartwarming. I am glad that he testified in court against the Nazi's. Good on you mate.❤❤💪💪
When I was a child a man lived down the street in Bradford, England, in the 70s kid's used to be horrible to him, because they thought that he was German. I asked my mum why they were like this, because he was from Germany. So I didn't believe her, when I saw him going to the shops. I asked him his name ( I was scared). He replied Joseph Kowlovski, he asked mine, I replied Sean. I asked him were he was from, and he replied that he was from Poland. Ah the penny dropped. I will not ever judge a book by its cover again. Always seek the truth.
03:40. Never underestimate the capacity for sentimentality among utterly brutal people.
My American History teacher, Mr. Abrams, included a unit on the nazi's attempt to kill all the Jews. The pictures were appalling and we all thought he was overdoing it because he was Jewish. He told us, we should never forget. As students we thought, how could anybody forget something so terrible. He was right and we were wrong. Thank you Mr. Abrams for making sure we would remember!
WE HAVE TO REMEMBER OUR HISTORY
The truth can never be censored if we want to live in a free society. God knows everything, evil cannot hide, JOY is here Justice Of Yahweh
I sobbed throughout the whole movie, “Life is Beautiful”…. twice.
I can't watch that movie anymore since I had kids.
Then, we are condemned to repeat it...
It's always good to hear a story with a happy ending when lost in ze darkness and fog of ze Holocaust.

Oh it saddens me how it could’ve happened. But I’m grateful to have known the truth about the atrocities committed against the Jews. Just look at how cute he was. He looked just like his father. Hated because they were Jews.
