This is Albanian 🇦🇱 Tsam Dance! The Sarakatsan are Vllah (Aromanian) meaning ‘latinised’ Albanians! This is why they have Albanian Traditions and Folklore such as this Tsam Dance!
First, Sarakatsanis are not vlachs but isolated greek nomads. Theres no evidence for their supposed vlach ancestry apart from unproven claims from romanian propagandists who judged their nomadic lifestyle and made the stupid conclusion that they are vlachs. Second, vlachs are very diverse, including their origins. The ones in Albania and northwest balkans (excluding istrian ones who are probably directly romanians) are illyrian in origin. The ones in central balkans are thracian and illyrian and the ones in Epirus as well as Thessaly are probably latinized local epirotes or hellenic tribes in general (romans hated the epirotes, very, very much, to the point it didnt matter if they spoke greek, which is a language they admired). Whats funny is that even if albanians are illyrians they are a specific subgroup indigenous to a different location (Western N Macedonia) and probably different people from other illyrians (as illyrian was a geographic term probably and not necessarily a term for similar tribes), so there really isnt any "latinized albanian" in the first place, only latinized illyrians who are different from you. As for sarakatsans and pindic vlachs, both are probably descendants of the ancient epirotes, but one things certain, both sarakatsanis and vlachs were there before albanian raiders who want to call themselves "autocthonous" (even though half of their land never was albanian, or illyrian for that matter, in history until recently) settled in our lands. Your origins in western North Macedonia and during that time our natives were living n Epirus just fine, until you came and outnumbered them, like you did in Kosovo. The real autocthonous people of Epirus are the Sarakatsans and vlachs, not albanians. You are foreigners in Epirus, be it chams, suliotes or hellenized albanians, and you being plural or majority in some regions doesnt indicate autocthony. As for traditions, you are probably half right, the costume could be from albanian raiders influenced by local traditions, but even if its 100% albanian that doesnt mean they are albanian by blood. Romanians and Bulgarians have similar traditions, does this mean that romanians are bulgarians or vice versa?
@@Dinosaur315 the Vllah are “latinised” Albanians, whether they live here, in greece, in Rpmania or other parts of our Illyrian peninsula! The very name “vllah” = “brother” and it is Albanian! The reason why they are called brothers by us, it is because that is precisely what they were and what they are OUR BROTHERS! Now, a brother is of the same blood to you, born in the same family as you, from the same mother as you! Meaning they are Albanians! But why were they latinised you’d ask? And the answer is The Roman Empire!!! Now, when we look at the language we identify a latinised Albanian, that is what Vllah or Romanian is. Genetically they are of the same Albanian branch! So, they are all “latinised” Albanians, everywhere including greece! Whereas the Sarakatcans lived in the same highlands and adopted our traditions! I’ve just seen a historic program where they said they are North Afrikans and came here with the Catalan pirates, but were chased out of the Albanian cities and took off scared ti the mountains, where clearly they absorbed our highlanders traditions!! This means that if they check their genetics they will be North Africans the area below Spain!
@@klajdizemblaku8256 You clearly watched a propaganda film. Romanians are not albanians and neither are the vlachs, albanians as a people emerge in the middle ages REGARDLESS which population branch they belong to (illyrians, thracians, both who knows) so it's incorrect to call Romanians (who are dacians and romans btw) albanians, because they existed before the albanians spread around (first they were isolated in western north macedonia and were a very small population before they multiplied. This is also why they are a homogenous people and share similar faces. Note this, it'll be relevant in a minute) Term Vlach originates from a celtic tribe, Volcae, which then was germanized to walhaz and then it became an exonym for latin speakers by the slavs and then for shepherds regardless of origin, though the latin speaker definition became more prevalent. Poles also call italians vlachs (Włochy) which proves that the term originated somewhere in northern Europe. Theres nothing albanian to it, it was just albanized and then locals (be it albanians or vlachs) made various bizzare theories about their origins (as every tribe does because there's no education, or theres propaganda) it just happens to sound similar to vëlla, but only a little bit, because vëlla is spelled as valla, while vlach in albanian is vlleh. Its only a coincidence and nothing more, no scholar is aware of this theory, that the word vlach is albanian in origin. Remember when I told you to note the homogenous facial features? Albanians are a homogenous people and share similar faces. Vlachs have distinct faces. This is also evidencd that their genetics, though obviously similar, coinsidering they are both balkanic, are nonetheless different from each other. As I've said, various local peoples in the roman empire were probably latinized, but albanians werent. Vlachs are probably indeed illyrians thracians, dacians and greeks but as I've said, illyrians were probably a diverse people and most likely not even similar to each other, it's like calling the french, the americans and the swedes as illyrians, thats how different they probably were, so even if the albanian vlachs are illyrians they are not albanians in origin. Albanian isnt synonym for illyrian, it's like saying thracian=bulgarian, or better yet, peloponnesian=cretan. As for Sarakatsani, idk what kind of "documentary" you've watched, but Sarakatsani are one of the oldest population in the balkans and are autocthonous in Epirus, they united with proto greek populations and emerged as greeks, but the turks expelled most of the sarakatsani everywhere in Greece and the balkans, and some mixed with other populations (like in Bulgaria, though probably because of assimilation policies imposed on them). They arent north african or spanish, if you see their faces (I recommend to search sarakatsans of epirus as they are authentic and not mixed, but even the mixed ones have european faces) they look very european. As you said, they carry traditions local to Epirus and South Albania because they are probably a mix of their own and of the incoming albanian populations' (albanians settled in Epirus in the middle ages and obviously brought their own customs, so they influenced other populations as well, like greeks and vlachs. Vice versa also happened, specifically more with greeks). In conclusion, vlachs are not albanians and neither are sarakatsani from North Africa, these are just random theories and propaganda.
1)we are not vlachs!!! We are pure ancient Greeks. 2) “tsam” dance is a Greek dance from Pindus area. Nothing to do with Albania or Albanians. 3)the Albanians of “chameria” are immigrants in Epirus, since 1600 AD. You are not native here. Your native area is north Albania and Montenegro(The ancient Illyrian mainland)
